Volunteering in one of our Sense Shops will involve a variety of tasks that you can get involved with. These include:

- Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
- Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
- Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
- Processing sales and serving on the till
- Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
- Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
- Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
- Following new health, safety and social distancing measures to ensure the safety of everyone

Shop Assistant Volunteer needed! - Lewes
Would you like to be a part of your local community? Are you looking for a volunteering opportunity and making a difference? Do you enjoy the retail environment and have some unique skills you would like to put to good use? If any of these resonated with you, then you are in the right place!
The role
We are looking for Shop Assistant volunteers to support our shop teams in our Furniture Now! Lewes store. The best thing about this is that you can make this role entirely your own: from serving customers at the till, to taking care of bookings, mending items that need a bit of love or bringing your incredible knowledge and passion to our Book section, there is always something to do on the shopfloor!
You will join a wonderful team made of a Shop Manager, Assistant Manager, van driver and van assistants as well as some volunteers. Free hot beverage and biscuits always available on site as well as bi-annual shop team events!
Shift patterns
We are looking for support on Saturdays as a priority but would be grateful to receive help any day of the week. The shift pattern is either a half day (morning shift: 8.30am – 12pm or afternoon shit: 12pm – 4.30pm) or a full day (8.30am – 4.30pm).

About the Charity
Furniture Now! is an East Sussex chain of charity furniture stores, part of the Now! charity group Ltd. We aim to end local poverty and fight for the environment. We act at different levels by making furniture accessible to those most in need through our special two tier discount, working in partnership with social funds to furnish refugees’ homes and issue grants to environmentally and socially focused local actions.
We recently started providing free sanitary products in all 3 of our stores in a bid to end Period Poverty. This is an exciting time to join our charity as we are also about to open a Community Shed in our Hailsham store to provide the local community with a third space, where people can meet, hang out and upcycle furniture.

Every PDSA shop needs an amazing team of volunteers to make it a success and we’re on the lookout for people to join us.
Our shops raise funds to support our pet 48 hospitals and increase awareness of the work we do to get the nation PetWise.
There are many different ways you can help and even a couple of hours a week will make a difference.
As a Volunteer Customer Service Assistant in one of our shops, you will be the face of PDSA. You will make sure that our customers receive a warm welcome and help us to achieve our ambition of delivering the best customer service of any UK charity. You will also be helping us to exceed our income targets.

About this role
You will be vital to the work of your local Scope shop, generating income and raising awareness of our work in your local community. You will receive all training and support you need to get involved and enjoy your time volunteering.
Your role may include:
- sorting and organising goods for sale
- helping to display stock and window dressing
- tidying and cleaning the shop
- welcoming and supporting customers
- using the till and taking payments
- steaming clothes so they look better for customers
- pricing and tagging new donations
When and where
You will be in our Scope Dewsbury shop at 134 to 36 Daisy Hill, Dewsbury, WF13 1LH. We are flexible on the times you would like to volunteer. We’d love your help for as little as 1 hour a week, but if you can give more time that would help us even more.
Who we’re looking for
We welcome anyone who is friendly and passionate about disability equality!
Some volunteers want to learn more about charities or about retail. Others want to make a difference to the lives of disabled people. Other volunteers are interested in our training and development opportunities. Some people join us to meet new people and make friends. Sometimes people want to help a charity shop they like shopping in, while also getting a discount in the shop!

Behind the scenes, volunteers get involved with sorting through donations to find those hidden gems and preparing goods for sale by sorting, steaming and pricing
We provide training, so you don’t need experience – and we reimburse travel expenses so you won’t be out of pocket.
We’re looking for people who are 18 years of age or over that enjoy working as part of a team and making a difference.
