We are seeking a committed and detail-oriented Volunteer Archivist to join our team. As a Volunteer Archivist, you will play a crucial role in preserving, organising and maintaining our archives, encompassing both digital and physical assets.

Our archive and library are permanently housed at our London Office. This role would suit someone working towards an archive or record management qualification, with an interest in social and cultural archives and history.

Main Duties

• To assist in maintaining a comprehensive archive and library encompassing both digital and physical assets representing the rich history CPAG.
• Collaborating closely with the Office Manager and CEO, your role will involve developing an efficient and user-friendly framework for the ongoing management and preservation of the archive.
• Listing, describing and boxing records.
• To develop a basic ‘collections policy’ outlining future collecting and simple archiving procedures for organisational maintenance.
• To use your knowledge of archiving processes to support staff with cataloguing archive contents.
• To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.
• This includes applying archival principles and standards, enhancing the archives research and historical value.

Commitment
The role requires a minimum commitment of at least 3 months, 7-10 hours per week during our working hours (Monday-Friday, 9.00am to 4.30pm).

About the Donated Stock Team

The Donated Stock Team is responsible for driving stock donations across the whole of retail and stimulating partnerships that will lead to stock donations. We also work on for brand awareness through social media.

The team is incredibly passionate about the work they do and are proud of their achievements, including increasing stock donations by +50% year to date and winning the Sense Team Award for Professional Excellence. This role provides our team the support to help raise income through our shops with a focus organisation administrative support.

Key duties

· Supporting Sense Shops to grow their social media presence with a focus on encouraging people to donate their stock.

· Creating support material to encourage people to recycle, reuse and declutter pre-loved clothing and items within local communities around our shops.

· Plan activities to increase growth through targeted outreach.

Our publicity team leaders have the important role of supporting a wider team of publicity volunteers. Prison-based volunteers are the backbone of Fine Cell Work (FCW). Supported by the Fine Cell Work programmes team and by other staff at the FCW office, they teach and administer FCW stitching groups in prisons.

Prison volunteers work in teams to organise classes and teach our stitchers, as well as providing groups information to the prison and to the FCW office. The precise mix of skills will vary from prison to prison.

Volunteering in prison for Fine Cell Work requires ideally a good level of needlework skill (or a willingness to learn), some teaching experience and/or experience of working with socially-excluded groups. Volunteers must be patient and non-judgemental in order to work effectively.

Purpose of the Role

 This volunteer role is a key part of the HFEH Mind team delivering a range of services across Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow. We support clients with mental health with both clinical and non-clinical interventions.

The volunteer will coordinate a network of volunteers who, alongside the local team, delivering a range of services.

The volunteer will onboard, induct, and provide ongoing support for the volunteers and provide oversight of the relationship volunteers have with the service users we work with.

Main Responsibilities

To work closely with the HFEH Mind team and service managers and support the services with volunteer recruitment, supervision and retention.

Tasks

• Work with the service managers and central support team to support the journey and retention of volunteers.
• Provide volunteers with 1:1s or group support on a monthly basis.
• Support Director of Adult Services to administer reflective practice sessions.
• Work with the service managers and central support to log and administer volunteer availability, and resolve any volunteering related issues or complaints.
• Encourage people to volunteer through a variety of local marketing and promotion approaches, including social media and engage with our Head of Well at Work to develop a marketing and communications strategy for volunteers.
• Develop, coordinate and engage a network of around 30 active volunteers for the service.

We are looking for warm, child-friendly volunteers to help with activities at YMCA Doncaster. 

Our programme of activities is quite new and still developing. At present, activities include arts and crafts, music and drama. 

We work with children and young people from the age of 5 upwards, with our activity sessions being led by YMCA staff. 

Joining us as a volunteer will involve helping with preparation and tidying up as well as supporting anyone who needs a bit of extra help to join in. 

Sessions take place on Monday and Tuesday evenings at the YMCA between 3pm and 8.30pm, and we’re looking for volunteers who can help out with one or both evenings each week. Having regular volunteers will mean that we can grow the activities, offer more places and build some extra informal sessions into our programme. 

We think that this opportunity would be great for people with an interest in working with children and young people, wherever you are in your career – we welcome people of any age over 18.

As a Visual Content Creator, you will have the opportunity to produce captivating images and graphics for marketing, social media, and webpage design purposes, helping to enhance the visual appeal of the Eyeniversum platform and attract users.

The RNLI is the lifeboats chairty that saves lives at sea and on the Thames. We have groups of volunteers all over the UK working with our volunteer lifeboat crews to raise awareness of water safety as well as raising vital funds to help to keep our lifeboats in the water. 

The ask:

Our fundraising team in Kensington is being led by a new team who are keen to build a programme of events that capitalises on the groups past successes as well as creating new events that appeal to a more diverse audience. The team are currently looking for:

Event support volunteers - to come along and support on the day of an event - events range from collections to orchestras and dinner dances - ad hoc - we'd hope you'd be able to support one or two events per year

Role Summary

Roots Academy is in the process of registering as a charity. As part of this process, the team are working towards creating policies, procedures and frameworks to ensure Roots is meeting charity governance requirements, and to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

The teams currently include:

• Executive team – will become the Trustee Board, once registered
• Leadership team – Team Leads include Finance, HR, Marketing, Fundraising, Academic, Delivery

As our Governance Lead, you will work closely with the Executive Team / Trustee Board, to establish a governance framework for the charity. You will also work closely with the relevant team leads to ensure each team has policies and procedures in place.

Key tasks

• Working closely with the Exec team, support the Trustee on-boarding process, to ensure all required documentation is obtained, and stored securely
• Support with trustee meetings, ensuring accurate record keeping of meeting agendas and minutes
• Manage registers; register of members of the board, register of interests, register of gifts, policy register, risk register, submitting to relevant regulators and responding to appropriate requests.
• Oversee the development of governance polices, such as Complaints Policy, Conflict of Interest Policy, Risk Management Policy, and Whistleblowing Policy.
• Work with the leadership team to ensure policies and procedures are in place, in line with best practice, and signed off by the Trustee board. This includes but is not limited to:

It changes again when they realise they must consider end of life care, and again, when they finally lose their child.

As a volunteer, you could be involved in various activities depending on your preferences, skills and experience, these include:

• Collecting and servicing donation boxes in your area and finding new places to place them

• Attending cheque presentations and giving talks about our work to local groups or schools

• Helping out at bucket collections and other fundraising events throughout the year

• Spreading the word about Tŷ Hafan's campaigns and events to your friends, family and contacts 

• Sharing your passion for what we do with your community

To be a Community Fundraising Volunteer, you need to have a good knowledge of your local area and potential supporters, and a genuine enthusiasm for our cause. It would also be helpful if you are:

• Able to speak Welsh (not essential for all volunteers, but we welcome Welsh speakers)

• Confident and comfortable speaking in public about what we do

• Familiar with using social media

Here's what you can expect from our training program:

• A comprehensive induction by a member of the Fundraising team, including a tour of the hospice to see the impact of your support

• An annual training day at the hospice with tips on delivering talks, updates on policies and procedures, and a celebration of your achievements 

• Regular contact from your Regional Fundraiser and invitations to team meetings and social events

• GDPR training on how to handle donations and cash safely and securely

• Exclusive access to some of our events as our guest;

• Reimbursement for travel expenses

We will ask you to provide us with the details of two referees and a Basic DBS check is required for this role.

Tŷ Hafan will cover the costs of any background checks and we will contact you with details on completing a DBS, once your application is successful.

A bit about this role

As a charity we are only able to help thousands of cats and kittens each year thanks to the donations we receive from generous members of the public. Our online fundraisers help our volunteer groups raise vital funds by organising online sales of goods, using social media to encourage donations and any other innovative ways to raise funds they can think of! Making a difference can mean as little as raising 18p, which is enough to feed one cat in our care for a day.

What can you expect to be doing? 

• Organising online donations and selling products to raise funds
• Raising funds through social networking sites and websites
• Asking for pledges and raising awareness of how donated funds are used at Cats Protection
• Sharing fundraising ideas and putting these ideas into practice

You will develop new skills, expand your knowledge and make a significant contribution to improving the lives of cats and kittens by using your online skills to raise funds to help cats in your local community. You will also meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers.

We’re looking for someone with

• Good IT skills 
• Good understanding of spelling, punctuation and grammar  
• Willingness to be part of a team
• The ability to use own initiative 
• Good communication skills
• Knowledge of online fundraising (would be an advantage)

Time expectation 

Our online fundraisers usually spend 2 to 3 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Support, guidance and keeping you safe

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.
