Please note: This is a volunteer role with expenses covered with prior agreement. Multiple shifts are available and shifts are 9am - 1pm and 1pm - 5pm, Monday to Saturday. We are also looking for people to work 12-4pm on Sundays in the run up to Christmas.
We’re seeking friendly, reliable individuals aged 18 or over who want to make a difference in their community. No prior experience is needed, as we provide full training. If you’re open to learning, enjoy working with others, and have a passion for helping people, you’ll fit right in!

By volunteering with us in one of our amazing bookshops you will be raising essential funds for Oxfam – all whilst learning new skills and meeting some incredible people.
What you will be doing
- Undertaking shop related tasks agreed with the Manager, for example:
- Selecting, sorting, and pricing donated stock.
- Chatting to customers, giving great service on the till.
- Researching valuable and vintage stock.
- Visual merchandising: creating eye-catching window and in-store displays.
- Photographing and listing items for the online shop.
- This role may include occasionally lifting boxes. We prioritise a safe working environment and provide comprehensive health and safety training to all volunteers.

What will you be doing?
This role involves leading on Human Resources (HR) within the organisation, ensuring the highest standards of governance in policies and practice related to employee relations, recruitment, retention, reward, recognition and staff/trustee development.
It is the HR trustee’s responsibility to assess risks and measure the impact of HR interventions, implement organisational policies and practices in the context of furthering charitable objectives and evaluating how they impact beneficiaries and staff. The HR trustee needs to ensure the long-term strategic oversight of the organisation’s staffing requirements in relation to the goals of the charity.
HR Lead Responsibilities:
- To review and recommend current and future strategic resourcing, training and development and annual budgets and plans to the Trustee Board
- To actively contribute to policy setting, strategic direction, goal and target setting, and evaluate performance against targets, budgets, plans and charitable objectives
- To ensure that HR activities and interventions are linked to the organisation’s charitable objectives and complement the organisational culture
- To ensure the Trustee Board monitors and reviews the performance of the charity’s Chief Executive, rewards performance accordingly and identifies development opportunities
- To monitor whether the service complies with its governing document and standards and if the needs of the beneficiaries are being met

- To work alongside the Treasurer and the Trustee Board to ensure the organisation’s financial dealings are systematically accounted for and on time, independently examined (on income over £25k) and made publicly available when necessary

- To ensure appropriate financial plans are in place for future budget allocations as well as looking after contractual agreements with external partners that award money for core costs and additional projects
- To help promote the organisation to a wider audience of potential funders and beneficiaries
- To ensure the food bank has appropriate procedures to: comply with current legislation and good practice; including employment, health and safety, equal opportunities, safeguarding & GDPR compliance/data protection etc.

Trustees play a vital role in ensuring Airdrie Foodbank meets its core purpose by overseeing the management and administration of the charity and ensuring that the foodbank has a clear strategy in line with our vision and goals.
What will you be doing?
Trustees have collective responsibility for the governance of the organisation and for all decisions made by the Board. They set the strategic direction for the organisation, ensuring alignment to our values, and are responsible for setting organisational policy, defining goals, agreeing the financial plan, evaluating performance, and ensuring that strong relationships are maintained between the Trustees and the Management & Volunteer Team.
Key tasks:

- To ensure the board regularly reviews its structures, roles, relationship to staff and implementing changes if and when necessary.

Overview of the role
Airdrie Foodbank are seeking someone with fundraising and grant applications experience at board level, ensuring that the Board of Trustees are aware of and kept up to date with any fundraising or grant developments and build a sound fundraising strategy as we move forward. This role involves leading on fundraising affairs for the food bank and ensuring that they are conducted within good practice frameworks.
Responsibilities
As a trustee you will share collective responsibility for the governance of the food bank and all decisions made by the board, ensuring the organisation is well run, fulfils its mission, is compliant with charity law and that the charity is open and accountable. What will you be doing?

- to regularly communicate to the rest of the trustee board via trustee meetings or any other communication, any relevant information and/or developments regarding fund raising or grant applications.

Debt Advice Foundation is a registered national debt advice and education charity, based in Darwen, Lancashire.
The charity aims to tackle the causes and impact of problem debt. We do this through our DebtAware education programme, which provides children with the knowledge and skills they’ll need to manage their money with confidence in years to come and through our free debt advice telephone helpline, for those that are impacted by debt today.
The role
Our trutees play a vital role in making sure that Debt Advice Foundation achieves its objectives.

Newport Citizens Advice provides free advice services to thousands of people of every year
We are seeking Trustees, particularly those with experience in income generation, finance, leadership/governance, change management, and communications.
What will you be doing?
As a trustee you will have an essential role in supporting the organisation at a time of many exciting and challenging developments
We are in the process of securing new accommodation with the intention of moving to newly designed and refurbished premises for the whole organisation within the next year.
We are also currently developing new services in immigration - the first of their kind in any Citizens Advice organisation in Wales and we are also developing new services in housing and homelessness.
Our partnership work is also a key area for further development as we move towards delivering more and more services collaboratively.
Our governance structure consists of a Trustee Board and sub-committees for finance and personnel and for performance, risk and compliance. Trustee input is also encouraged in the Research and Campaigns Group, Health and Safety Committee and throughout the annual Business Development and Planning process.

The Royal British Legion (RBL) stands at a pivotal and inspiring moment in its history. As we deliver Our Strategy to 2035, we are evolving to meet the changing needs of the entire Armed Forces community – serving personnel, veterans, families, and the bereaved. Our vision is clear: to bring society together to recognise, remember and support the Armed Forces community, ensuring their unique contribution is never forgotten.
To help drive this transformation, we are seeking to appoint two Trustees to join our Board.

Who we’re looking for
We are seeking candidates with senior-level experience and strategic insight who can provide constructive challenge, independent judgement and guidance as RBL continues to modernise.
In addition to strong governance skills, we are particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:
· Strategic transformation and technology: guiding organisations through complex change programmes and digital evolution.
· Government and public policy: operating at a senior level in government or a devolved administration, with experience of ministerial engagement, policy development, or public affairs.
· Brand, marketing, or income generation: delivering sustainable growth through engagement, communication, and innovation.
Candidates will also have:
· The ability to collaborate effectively with others.
· Strong influencing and communication skills.
· Genuine commitment to RBL’s mission and values.
· Sound and relevant knowledge of good governance practices, law and fiduciary duties.
· Good powers of judgement, insight, and vision.
· Excellent listening skills and openness to diverse perspectives.
Successful candidates will be expected to attend six Board meetings per year and actively contribute as a member of at least one Board committee. Trustees also participate in commemorative and membership events throughout the year. Overall, the anticipated time commitment is approximately 20 days annually, including preparation and engagement outside of formal meetings.
