A Safer Neighbourhood Board is established in every borough giving local Londoners and victims a greater voice.

Barnet’s Safer Neighbourhood Board entails a team of volunteers and local agencies who will work together to advise the Borough Commander.

 The Board consists of a wide range of individuals representing Barnet’s diverse communities alongside the statutory positions defined in the MOPAC Guidance, involving people of all ages and from all sections of the community. This includes those who may not have been actively involved before, who may be vulnerable or who have been a victim of crime.

Barnet’s Safer Neighbourhood Board will be required to:

 · Help identify and advise on Barnet’s local policing

· Monitor police statistical data, performance and confidence

· Fulfil a range of specific functions.

The Role: Treasurer

As Treasurer, you will play a vital role in ensuring MiEB’s financial health, sustainability, and transparency. You will:

• Guide and advise the Board on financial strategy, budgeting, and risk management
• Chair the Finance & HR Sub-Committee, ensuring robust oversight of financial and operational matters
• Support the Head of Finance and CEO, offering expert insight and challenge on financial planning and reporting
• Ensure compliance with charity and company law, and that financial statements meet statutory and funder requirements
• Champion good governance, transparency, and accountability across the organisation

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone with:

• A professional finance qualification or equivalent senior-level financial management experience
• A strong understanding of charity finance and governance
• Experience managing complex budgets and financial reporting
• The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial audiences
• Experience of chairing meetings and working collaboratively with senior teams

Previous experience as a Treasurer is welcome but not essential – we’ll support you with induction, training, and mentoring.

About the Role

Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that The Connection achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that The Connection has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision and mission.

While trustees share collective responsibility, the Chair of the Board of Trustees leads the board, ensuring it functions effectively and fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of the charity.

The Chair also acts as a lead point of contact with the Chief Executive, providing line management—as well as support and challenge. In the context of the cross-site community at St Martin-in-the-Fields and externally, the Chair plays an important ambassadorial role for The Connection

The Board of Trustees at the Connection have adopted the Charity Governance Code for larger charities which sets out the principles and key elements of good governance.
