What does this role do?
As a Welfare Manager you will:

Job Title: Clinical Lead
Location: Based in our Central Office in Islington which is around a 10 minute walk from Highbury and Islington station. You will also work across multiple services in and around London, Kent, Brighton, Luton and Bedford. Please be kindly aware there is no step free access at this location and some of our other sites.
Salary: Full time equivalent salary is £61,800
Shift Pattern: 15 hours per week working 5 to 7.5 hour shifts Monday to Friday between 09:00 - 17:00, set days and shifts can be discussed in the recruitment process with the hiring team. You may be required to work outside these hours as per service and organisational needs.
About the role
As a Clinical Led, you will be responsible for shaping, leading, and delivering our Clinical strategy. You will drive clinical excellence and innovation across our services by providing leadership, knowledge, and your skills to upskill and empower our wider teams. You will champion best practice, compliance, and continuous improvement to ensure we are providing meaningful outcomes for our residents and participants.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Take lead on developing and implementing healthy and safe clinical strategies, policies, and procedures across the organisation.
- Provide expert clinical oversight across all relevant services.
- Lead on research initiatives to evidence the effectiveness of our clinical offer that will provide ongoing evaluations and reviews for SIG.
- Manage ongoing clinical projects, research projects, and audits.
- Provide hands on support to managers throughout resident and participant interactions with SIG.
- Support teams with cases and medication issues, working alongside external clinical teams.
- Complete and manage serious case reviews, in collaboration with various teams internally and externally to complete thorough evaluation and make recommendations.
- Lead on risk management and risk assessments, in line with SIG’s theory of change, carry out strengths-based assessments of need and risk and deliver holistic support and risk management plans, enabling residents/participants to achieve their aspirations and keep themselves safe.
About you
We are looking for someone who can proactively take leadership and ownership of creating safer and compliant clinical services for our residents and participants. You will be able to communicate highly complex and sensitive information effectively, and able to upskill others to be empowered to perform within their roles, with knowledge of clinical excellence. You will have:
- Registered Clinical Profession; Specialist Registered Mental Health Nurse, Non Medical Prescriber qualification or equivalent
- Proven leadership in clinical service delivery within health, social care, or third sector settings
- Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and driving service excellence
- Ability to teach, train, consult, and deliver clinical supervision
- Thorough understanding of risk management and able to share this with colleagues at all levels through training, meetings and one to one support
- Ability to translate industry standards into internal practices, updating relevant people on any updates on a regular basis. Keep in line with regulations and relevant trends
- Understanding of interplay between physical health, mental health, and substance use
- Ability to understand and apply safeguarding protocols as they arise

MediCinema is a unique national, UK registered charity that improves the wellbeing and enriches the quality of life of NHS patients, their families and carers through the power of the shared cinema experience and the magic of film. We achieve this by building and running cinemas in hospitals and places of care equipped with space for beds, wheelchairs and medical equipment, and providing free films and activities for patients of all ages. The Role
We are looking for a Cinema Manager to build and run our brand new service at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
The post-holder will build their team of nurses and volunteers and will work closely with them, the hospital, and with central office operations team to prepare for and run successful film screenings each week.
We will run four regular inpatient screenings each week – exact times and dates to be agreed with all stakeholders, but will include evenings and weekends. There will also be a programme of additional Tailored and Personal screenings on top of these four regular inpatient screenings.
The role offers a unique, exciting and extremely rewarding opportunity for someone interested in a service delivery role at the heart of our charity, involving direct contact with the patients and families we support.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
The role of the Cinema Manager is essential to ensure the effective and safe delivery of our service. Based at Birmingham Children’s Hospital the role is responsible for all operational aspects of the service. This includes ensuring screenings happen on schedule and as planned, recruiting and managing volunteers and nurses, and developing relationships with a variety of hospital staff and departments to ensure the service is widely promoted and utilised, and to work together on developing Tailored Screening groups and identify candidates for Personal Screenings.
The position would be part of the larger cinema managers team (all of whom operate remotely at various hospital sites) and report to the National Cinema Manager who is based in our central office in London. This position would suit someone who is self-motivated, wants a varied and interesting role and has an interest in film, healthcare and helping to improve people’s wellbeing.
Service Delivery
- Deliver a programme of screenings each week as agreed according to the operating procedures of a MediCinema, including running and managing screenings on your own. Most screenings are held in the evenings so the role requires regular evening working.
- Be responsible for:
- Marketing the service throughout the hospital, organising collecting and returning patients, and for safety and care in the cinema itself.
- Taking responsibility for health and safety of patients coming to the cinema, and the safety and appearance of the cinema space itself.
- Preparing and operating the digital projection equipment for the screening, ensuring that films are screened to the highest technical standards at all times. Training and ongoing technical support will be provided for this.
- Ensuring that all operational, welfare and safeguarding policies set out by MediCinema are followed accordingly, and that consent forms are obtained for photographic or filmed records.
- Ensuring that all aspects of the operation comply with relevant health and safety legislation, and that areas where MediCinema might be in breach of such are dealt with immediately or brought to the attention of the appropriate authorities for rectification.
- Keeping accurate monitoring and operational records, including contacts and database updating as required
- Collate, analyse and report back on agreed metrics and KPI’s
- Support with arranging and running any special events and special screenings
- When required, arrange and run additional personal screenings for patients unable to attend regular screenings, plus special tailored screenings with particular hospital departments and patient groups.
- Manage the local development and roll out of different Tailored Screening patient groups. Also any other potential new type of screenings we embark on.
- Support the delivery of our ‘Beyond the Big Screen’ bedside services, such as our Disney ‘Moments that Matter’ work.
Nurse & Volunteer Management
- Build, manage and support the team of nurses and volunteers to assist in the duties outlined above and to ensure that screenings run safely and smoothly – this will include managing recruitment and creating monthly rotas.
- Work closely with Voluntary Services Department of the hospital about all the checks and training required for volunteers.
Marketing and Relationship Management
- Be proactive in marketing the service within the hospital, and building key relationships with hospital staff and our partner Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.
- Develop and manage effective partnerships throughout the hospital and community.
- Represent the organisation effectively and compellingly at all times.
- Support the programming and development of the MediCinema as a centre for entertainment, being pro-active in developing a creative programme of sustainable events at each site. This could include supporter events, live performance and other relevant activities.
Administration and other duties
- Provide holiday or emergency screening cover when required.
- Manage the collection, loading and returning of films.
- Champion the work of MediCinema within the hospital and cinema environment, as well as confidently and positively representing MediCinema in all interactions and at any meetings and events, including supporter visits.
- Contribute to the strategic development of the Birmingham MediCinema, operations and MediCinema as a wider organisation
- Communicate effectively with all team members, ensuring an inclusive and whole organisation approach
- Undertake other tasks, projects and duties as reasonably required.
MediCinema is a small team and staff members are expected to support each other and share cross-organisational work in addition to fulfilling individual responsibilities.
The Person
We are looking for a high energy, enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who is passionate about helping people and delivering impactful and effective services. They should be a warm, welcoming and positive person who can demonstrate the following skills and qualities:
- Strong organisational skills with an excellent attention to detail.
- A proactive, resourceful, problem-solving approach.
- An ability to work both on their own and as part of a team.
- Experience in using IT and an ability to quickly learn and understand new systems and technology. Please note full training on ingesting films and running the projection equipment will be provided so direct projection experience, while beneficial, is not required.
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to caringly and openly relate to and build relationships with a wide variety of people, from children, family members, volunteers and hospital staff.
- Flexibility and adaptability, and enjoyment of a working environment where no two days are the same.
- Demonstrate tact and sensitivity when dealing with people with a variety of needs and be aware of issues relating to confidentiality and safeguarding.
- Interest in healthcare, wellbeing and/or film & cinema.
- A sense of humour and congenial demeanour to help patients and families feel at ease and enjoy their MediCinema experience.

Key Responsibilities
Oversight of the Spear Programme
- As a confident communicator, you will lead group sessions of around 10 young people each, using coaching skills to transform attitudes to their own ability and the workplace, and to raise their awareness and maximise potential in stepping into the world of work
- Prepare and coach group and 1-1 sessions with the Spear Coach
- Ensure the programme is delivered in line with agreed targets, and report KPIs on recruitment, retention and completion of Spear Trainees to Resurgo and the Spear Trust, as well as their ongoing progress and sustainment of work or education
Partnership liaison and relationship management
- Establish the primary local referral agencies and steward relationships with these, overseeing and building a strategy to ensure recruitment of young people onto the Spear programme is effective
- Maintain and develop relationships with local partners to form a strong referral network
Line Management and training
- Manage the Spear Coach, using a coaching approach to invest in their growth and development
- Be line managed by Resurgo on Spear Programme performance and ongoing operations of the centre, and report back on KPIs
Church Community
- The Spear Centre Manager is directly employed by Alive Church, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community
- You will be required to establish strong relationships with key people at the church to ensure the engagement and backing of church members and help the Spear Coach to establish a strong presence at the church to build a network of supporters for the Spear programme
- Ensure the Spear programme is a key missional feature of the work of the church; this may involve attending church events and speaking at services
Site management
- Work with the Church to coordinate the training room and any infrastructure needs for the Spear Centre
- Liaise with relevant staff locally on-site issues and work to resolve them as soon as possible, ensuring the office and training room are safe and tidy working spaces in line with health and safety policies

About the role:
We are looking for nurses with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to join our team. You will work closely with the Clinical Leads to ensure more people achieve a peaceful and comfortable death in their preferred place of care.
We offer a flexible approach to rostering and we will consider part-time applications; early, late, twilight shifts are available, however please note that night shifts are currently a mandatory requirement of the position (usually 2-3 per month pro rata). Trinity, the UK’s oldest hospice, was founded in 1891, and we have been an innovator and a leader in the hospice sector ever since.
Today, we provide expert specialist palliative and end of life care to over 2,500 patients each year from our state-of-the-art inpatient unit and in the community across seven central & south London boroughs.
In August 2019, the Care Quality Commission rated our care as Outstanding, and the impact of our new clinical model of care introduced in 2022 was recognised with a national Palliative and End of Life Care Award in 2025.
We are renowned for our patient-centred care and have an optimal nurse-to-patient ratio. This allows us to focus on high-quality nursing standards, giving clinicians the time and space to deliver the patient care that inspired them to join the profession.
We are an ambitious and forward-looking organisation with a clear strategic vision, with the goal of reaching even more people in our community who would benefit from our care.
We are working to do this within the context of the national hospice funding crisis and have a creative and robust financial plan to continue expanding our offer to beneficiaries.
This is an exciting time to be joining our organisation. We are looking for two trustees to join our Board, who will bring financial expertise, particularly in investments and fundraising, with the view that one individual will become the new Honorary Treasurer.
By joining the Board of Trinity, you’ll be joining a dedicated team with a shared ambition to provide the best quality care for our patients, helping them to make the best of every moment.
Potential Trustees should be able to demonstrate they have the following:
• Commitment to the charity and its vision and charitable objectives • Strategic vision suitable to support the charitable objectives
• Ability to make independent judgements and think creatively
• Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of charity trusteeship
• Ability to work effectively in a team
• Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort, including 10 meetings a year (4 Board; 4 sub-committee meetings; 2 Board Away Days)
• Willingness to attend fundraising and awareness raising events on behalf of the charity at least three times a year.
Our meetings:
• Our Board meetings are held four-times per year on Tuesday evenings, 17.00-19.00, in person at the hospice
• We run two whole-day Board Away Days each year to provide additional time for strategic discussion and trustee development
• We have four Committees which all meet four-times per year, with meetings on Tuesday afternoons and evenings, and Wednesday evenings
