Act as a Business Analyst for the unit: offering regular competitor and stakeholder insights, alongside horizon scanning for key opportunities (events, profile engagements, lead generation). Provides project management of key internal and external initiatives, coordinating cross functional stakeholders and ensuring accountability.

Enhanced Business Development alignment: Work with the Chief of Staff & Strategic Initiatives to strengthen alignment between CEO priorities, business development activity, and the Foundation’s external positioning.

Executive communications support: Collect and develop Foundation materials (presentations, spreadsheets, data visualisations), assist in research and intelligence gathering, horizon scan for speaking opportunities, and support internal and external communications. Event logistics and execution: Project manage quarterly Town Halls logistics, coordinate Foundation Awards, organise End of Year Events, and manage other organisational events logistics as needed. Support the effective delivery of external events and speaking engagements that have CEO-level engagement.

Job Summary
The Development Manager will be a dynamic and experienced fundraiser with strong technical skills in grant and funding solicitation, management and stewardship across Crisis Action’s current donor targets including major foundations, governments, and High Net Wealth Individuals (HNWI). They will serve as the anchor of a newly configured fundraising team designed to support Crisis Action to nurture its existing donors and secure the next generation of support for its ground-breaking work.
This role is pivotal in ensuring excellence in our outreach, proposals, reporting and communication to drive resource mobilisation that is essential for the organisation’s financial sustainability at a time when our distinct model and way of working is needed more than ever.
Principal responsibilities
Donor engagement and communications
- Oversee and coordinate day-to-day engagement with current and prospective foundation, government and individual donors by members of the Crisis Action team
- Represent the organisation vis-à-vis donor representatives
- Support HNWI donor benefits structure and cultivation plans
- Prepare compelling and timely donor reports, donor updates, letters of receipt and other outreach materials in collaboration with finance and campaign teams.
Grant management and oversight
- Ensuring timely and skilled drafting, consultation and sign off of high-quality grant proposals
- Timely acknowledgement of all contributions and compliance with donor requirements
- Preparation of high-quality proposal budgets and financial reports for donors in compliance with grant specifications and deadlines, in close cooperation with the Finance Team
- Review all grant agreements and monitor/ensure the organization's adherence to its contractual commitments.
Strategic vision and guidance:
- Provide strategic support to the Chief Executive Officer on short- and long-term fundraising strategies and broader resource mobilisation initiatives to ensure our fundraising strategy and its implementation helps achieve organisational goals

Research and intelligence:
- Carry out donor research and provide strategic insights and donor related updates and background information to relevant colleagues.

Team coordination and collaboration
- Ensure that there is a clear workplan that anticipates what has to happen when to guide team resource allocation and workload management
- Ensure effective and efficient processes of gathering and sharing information across the team to support timely donor engagement and stewardship with clear protocols on the cadence of team calls and written updates

Communications
- Ensuring effective and timely communications to donors, Crisis Action’s board and team

Data and Systems Management
- Sustain, manage and where possible further develop the relevant administrative infrastructure, including grant tracking and reporting systems, Salesforce contact database, events calendars, contact lists, donor profiles, website and annual report donor acknowledgement lists and meeting minutes
Job Specifications
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in fundraising, donor relations, or development within the non-profit or international advocacy sector
- A proven track record of engaging with foundations and government officials to secure and manage grants
- Demonstrated ability to forge new donor partnerships, and a track record of bringing in new revenue
- Strong understanding of government and foundation funding landscapes with at least some familiarity with differences between them and the stewardship of major gifts from individual giving
- Experience in drafting compelling fundraising proposals, reports and donor updates for a variety of donors – foundations, governments and individuals
- Strong all-round communication and storytelling skills
- Experience producing a range of communications materials for different audiences
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate organisational goals into actionable fundraising plans

Salary & Benefits
Salary: We have set bands for the salary range for all positions at Crisis Action. The baseline of our salary range for this position is £40K per annum.
Benefits: 25 annual leave days (30 days after 3 years). Up to 6% contribution to pension. 3-month long service leave after 6 years and one-month sabbatical leave in year 10. CA additionally offers an annual inflationary increase, and 2% salary increase in year 2, 4 and 8 subject to availability of funds.

About this role, and your main responsibilities
Our current CEO is moving on after nine years in role, leaving the organisation, team and wider movement in a strong and empowered position to deliver on the next phase of our development.
Your opportunity is to lead the organisation, and to deliver on our new five-year strategy setting an ambitious course for the future during a period of major transformation for our railways and the wider transport system. You will ensure that we are:

Other information
The role will involve extensive travel within Britain as part of building your profile and that of the organisation with central and devolved government in Scotland and Wales, and increasingly with the devolved regions of England.
There is flexibility on location given the requirement to travel and that your office will be home-based. You will need to travel to in-person quarterly team meetings (usually in London or West Yorkshire) and to Board meetings which alternate between online and London. It is expected that travel will be by public transport and easy access to the rail network is therefore required to ensure journeys can be made sustainably.
This is a full-time position, 37 hours per week. We use a flexi-time system with core hours 10am-3pm, and are committed to being a flexible, supportive and understanding employer. This is a permanent position with a probationary period of six months.

• A strong track record of securing new Local Authority commissioned contracts and re securing existing contracts, with experience of commissioning and procurement processes in health, social care or the voluntary sector.
• Proven experience of leading bid development activity and bid teams, producing high quality, persuasive proposals within tight deadlines.
• Experience of senior stakeholder engagement and relationship management with commissioners, funders and partner organisations.
• A good understanding of health and care systems, including Local Authority and Integrated Care System priorities and pressures.

Oceana UK is focused on some of the biggest threats facing UK seas, including protecting seabed habitats, ending overfishing, and preventing new offshore oil and gas developments. Job Purpose
The Development Manager will manage our fundraising and partnerships portfolio, supporting the stewardship of relationships with some of the world’s biggest environmental foundations and philanthropists. They will manage new and existing relationships, prepare grant applications and reporting, and evolve our outreach to support the growth and diversification of our fundraising opportunities. The role will work closely with the Executive Director, our UK team, and our US based global development department, to secure sustainable resources to strengthen Oceana UK and help drive positive impact for our seas.
Eligible candidates should have a passion for fundraising and a track record in securing major grants and donations, with a focus on trusts, foundations, and philanthropy. They will foster strong relationships with high-level partners, co-deliver excellent funding applications and reports, and provide written and verbal updates with precision and confidence. They will demonstrate a strategic mindset, alongside strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail. They must have experience in growing and diversifying income streams and converting new interest into long-term, sustainable, support.
The position will be hybrid, based three days per week (Tues-Thurs) from Oceana’s UK offices in Newquay, Cornwall or Paddington, London. Regular national, and occasional international, travel will be required to meet team members and stakeholders in geographically diverse locations, including Washington, DC.
Responsibilities
- Manage relationships and reporting to existing funders alongside the international development team and Executive Director. This will primarily be with trusts and foundations, individual philanthropists, and some corporate supporters.
- Manage successful grant applications and budgets, co-ordinating and collaborating with the international development team.
- Work closely with the finance, policy, communications, and campaigns team to ensure all relevant stakeholders are consulted in grant applications and reporting.
- Manage and deliver timely reporting, communications, and updates to funding partners and stakeholders.
- Manage and develop other existing UK income streams, including mass giving alongside the communications team.
- Identify, develop and manage additional UK income opportunities, including with smaller trusts and foundations.
- Collaborate with the Director of Finance and People, and international development and budgeting teams, to manage income forecasts and grant financial reporting.
- Maintain appropriate development records and database for all UK activity.
- Ensure compliance with UK fundraising regulations and best practice.
- Develop and manage key fundraising and partnerships events.
- Work with Executive Director to develop our outreach with funders at international events.
- Attend and represent the UK in monthly development meetings with the international team.
- Plan and manage UK development priorities, calendar, and budget.
- Be present in person in the London or Cornwall office 3 days per week (Tues-Thurs), promoting a positive working culture.
- Ensure a strong commitment to the organisation’s values and vision, as set out by Oceana globally.
- Travel occasionally, both nationally and internationally, to meet with team members and wider internal and external stakeholders.
- Other tasks as needed to support development and organisational objectives.
Candidate Requirements
Education and work experience:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in fundraising and development, ideally in the ocean or the environmental space (essential).
- Experience writing successful multi-year grant applications, alongside robust budgets, for trusts and foundations (essential).
- Experience managing charitable foundation relationships, delivering detailed and timely reports, and managing ongoing communications as required (essential).
- Experience managing major and corporate giving.
- Experience prospe cting, managing and analysing research on fundraising opportunities.
- Experience co-developing and diversifying fundraising opportunities.
- Good existing relationships with environmental trusts and foundations (preferred).
Skills & Knowledge:
- Excellent external relationship building, including confident networking skills, and organised and positive relationships with funders outside of scheduled reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to understand and distill complex scientific issues and detailed campaigns for fundraising purposes.
- Strong focus on spotting and cultivating new institutional fundraising opportunities
- Strong internal stakeholder management, adept at involving relevant teams (leadership, campaigns, finance, international) to develop funding applications.
- Confident and proficient using CRM platforms or other grant management tools.
- Good understanding of data privacy, code of fundraising practice, and other relevant regulations.
- Strong prioritisation and project management skills, with ability to manage multiple tasks and workstreams effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong drive to meet and exceed fundraising targets.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a small, close-knit team.
- Good understanding of the principles of Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and a proven commitment to improving these in the environmental space.

What the job involves
We’re looking for a Senior Evidence Officer to join our Data and Evidence team, who make sure our work is informed by the latest prostate cancer research. The team build and maintain our evidence base and turn complex findings into clear insight that helps drive change and improve outcomes for men.
As our Senior Evidence Officer, you’ll review and interpret clinical and scientific evidence on prostate cancer to inform Prostate Cancer UK’s positions and priorities. You’ll lead projects that ensure our strategic activity is underpinned by robust evidence, helping identify the health policy and clinical practice changes that will make the biggest difference for men.
You’ll analyse new and emerging research, making sure clinically effective advances are reflected in our strategic work. You’ll also design and lead in‑house research studies from start to finish, from developing objectives and writing protocols through to analysing and interpreting results, alongside carrying out evidence reviews to address gaps in knowledge.
Working closely with colleagues across the charity, you’ll contribute to horizon scanning so we stay informed about developments in research and clinical practice. You’ll support teams to use evidence accurately and confidently, work with policy and health influencing colleagues on technology appraisals and consultations such as NICE and SMC and respond quickly to evidence requests from across the organisation, including the media team.

What we want from you
We’re looking for a Senior Evidence Officer who enjoys working with evidence and using it to inform meaningful change. You’ll be confident critically appraising a wide range of evidence sources and drawing balanced conclusions about how that evidence should be used. You’ll be comfortable working with both qualitative and quantitative data, including interpreting statistical outputs from clinical trials and audits. You’ll likely have experience working at postgraduate level in health sciences, or equivalent practical experience gained through your career.
You’ll have experience designing and leading research or analysis projects that generate new evidence, and you’ll feel confident supporting others to develop sound research methods. You’ll also have a good understanding of how health services and systems work across the UK, including the data sources that support them.
You’ll be a clear and credible communicator, able to explain evidence in a way that lands with a wide range of audiences. You can move easily between writing technical research papers and creating accessible summaries for non‑specialist audiences, translating complex information into plain English. You’re comfortable working across teams, juggling different requests for evidence and responding accurately and on time.
Experience of conducting literature reviews, including rapid, semi‑systematic or full systematic reviews and broader evidence syntheses, would be a bonus.

In addition, they should have senior management training or equivalent experience and a clear record of continuing professional development. Accountable to our Board of Trustees and the wider membership, the new CEO will develop the strategic direction of the Association and lead the organisation to deliver a rolling medium-term Strategic Business Plan, balanced budgets and effective governance in compliance with company and charity law. An ability to prioritise planned and reactive work programmes to meet the needs of our membership is required, alongside the sourcing and delivery of timely bids for external funding together with the management of staff and resources to ensure value for money and staff wellbeing.
