The Office of Philanthropic Partnerships and Alumni (OPPA)
Office of Philanthropic Partnerships and Alumni (OPPA) works with a community of global alumni and donors to deepen their ties with York and each other, and encourage them to support the University through York Giving. This role is part of the Individual Philanthropy Team, which manages major individual philanthropy and the legacy giving programme, working closely with the other OPPA teams:
Corporate and Foundation Philanthropy: developing long term, strategic partnerships with philanthropic corporate and foundation supporters.
Fundraising Programmes: managing mass fundraising appeals, crowdfunding campaigns, community fundraising and student projects.
Operations and Experience: providing business intelligence, information and insight, governance and stewardship of supporter and alumni relationships, and managing all mass communications with alumni and supporters.
York for Life: developing alumni communities, volunteering and alumni engagement programmes in support of the University’s strategic aims.
OPPA is part of the University’s Directorate of External Relations, and works closely with other sections of the directorate, which are Marketing, Recruitment, Outreach and Admissions, Communications, Public Engagement and Events, and International Student Recruitment, Partnerships and Mobility.
About the Role
The role of Philanthropy Manager is to inspire and encourage philanthropic income from major individual donors to the University of York. You will work to build engagement and involvement of potential major donors and colleagues across the University to develop and deliver a pipeline of significant philanthropic gifts to York Giving’s priority projects.
You will manage a portfolio of major donor prospects and have responsibility and accountability for fund management and other priority projects for philanthropic funding, including liaising with academic theme coordinators.
This is a demanding and rewarding role that requires resilience and a long term view. The post holder will work to individual financial cash and pledge targets and KPIs based on meetings, moves, proposals and asks made.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
- Proven experience in a relationship management role, with both internal and external stakeholders. Ease at working with people and developing personable relationships with a wide range of people.
- Experience of fundraising or role generating new business.
- Knowledge and understanding of the principles related to donor cultivation, asking and stewardship
- Experience of organising events
- Experience of working in a high education or not for profit fundraising environment.
- Knowledge of data protection laws as they related to donor information
- Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge / NXT database or similar relationship management database

Tender is an arts charity working with children and young people to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence through creative projects. Our programmes are safe, enjoyable, age-appropriate spaces where young people can engage with sensitive topics and “rehearse” for real-life scenarios. Participants are encouraged to be both consumers and producers of learning through script-work, role-play and creative media such as films and art. Throughout, we enable young people to explore their choices, rights and expectations in relationships and to recognise the early warning signs of abuse.
We have an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in both research and converting that research into compelling data and stories to support our policy and influencing work.
This role will sit within our Research & Impact team, but will work across our communications, fundraising, and policy & influencing teams, particularly working closely with our senior leadership team to support our policy & influencing work. By converting the evidence and research from the research & impact team in to actionable insights and recommendations which can be shared with our funders, supporters and key decision makers such as policy makers and civil servants, you will play an important role in promoting the importance of prevention work as a tool to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence.
We are looking for someone with some experience in research and evaluation who has a passion for communication and storytelling. You will enjoy exploring quantitative and qualitative data to pull out meaningful insights, building relationships with a range of internal and external partners, and using data and evidence to persuade others to prioritise prevention-focused approaches to addressing societal issues.
Key responsibilities
The main responsibilities of this role are:
- EnsuringTender’s projects implement Tender’s Theory of Change and evaluation processes, and ensure learnings from evaluations are used to improve Tender’s work
- Analysing Tender’s evaluation results and carrying out secondary research to produce reports and guidance on best practice approaches to preventing domestic abuse and sexual violence
- Using the findings from Tender’s evaluations and research to author and disseminate (on behalf of Tender and working in partnership with other organisations) recommendations for policy makers on preventing domestic abuse and sexual violence

The opportunity

We’re looking for a motivated and detail-focused Supporter Experience Officer to help deliver an exceptional experience for our donors and event supporters. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our supporter data is accurate and meaningful, enabling us to communicate in a personal, timely, and inspiring way.
Working closely with the wider fundraising team, you’ll help develop creative and engaging supporter journeys, automate processes, and develop lasting relationships with the people who make our work possible.
What you’ll do:
- Manage supporter data and segmentation for mailings, e-newsletters, and campaigns
- Deliver timely, personalised thank-you messages and donor communications
- Support donor retention by monitoring giving patterns and engaging lapsed supporters
- Develop supporter journeys and automated touchpoints across email and CRM
- Help ensure every donor feels valued and connected to Treloar’s mission
- Contribute to events and fundraising campaigns, occasionally outside office hours
Salary:
£27,532 per annum (Term-time only contract — pro rata for part-time, based on 42 hours)

By partnering with primary schools, we support thousands of families across the UK to enjoy learning together at home. Our child-led videos and hands-on family activities replace traditional homework. Through behavioural insight research, innovative technology and teacher training we ensure that as many families as possible are supported effectively.
We are working to improve parental engagement across the sector, by producing evidence of parents’ impact and generating insights into how schools can best support them. Learnings are disseminated through the Parental Engagement Forum and amplified through the Fair Education Alliance.
About the Role
The Curriculum Leads are responsible for developing new content and updating existing content to ensure that it is accessible, curriculum-aligned and fun to help promote positive parent-child interactions. The Early Years role will continue the development of our school readiness programme, Ready Teddy beyond its pilot phase to ensure that it has the greatest impact on the schools and families that use it.
We see this person being our Early Years Lead initially focussed on the development of Ready Teddy as a full programme, in the future they will have the opportunity to explore other early years programmes we may seek to undertake.
Core areas of responsibility
Ready Teddy Programme Design
- Use existing evaluation findings to expand on the current Ready teddy programme content.
- Build on the programme structure from the pilot to create a full programme design
- Ensure the Ready Teddy Programme links well with our other programme to maintain coverage beyond it
- Design and implement the logistic elements of the Ready Teddy Programme
Content development
- Plan scope of content required, both in terms of creating new content and updating existing content.
- Use subject and pedagogical knowledge to design and create new activities for the website which align to the curriculum for Early Years.
- Ensure that all activities promote fun parent-child interactions and will be accessible to and engage disadvantaged families.
- Maintain and update the content database.
- Review existing topics and activities to identify areas for improvement on an ongoing basis.
- Develop new supporting materials, including PDFs and imagery, and update existing materials as required.
- Write or contribute to external programmatic materials that explain our pedagogical approach.
- Work with the wider teams, for example tech or schools, to ensure the programmes are delivered to all users in a consistent way.
- Keep up to date with sector developments and changes in curriculum.
- Feed into and support evaluation of our programmes.
Filming content
- Manage the logistics of filming, including agreeing dates with schools, securing appropriate permissions, booking travel and follow up communications.
- Plan and script videos and create or provide resources needed for filming.
- Work with school age children and their parents to film the videos and lead the filming day(s) within the school environment.
- Own the relationship with the videographer to film all videos and ensure the completed videos are delivered within agreed timescales.
- Oversee the editing and subtitling of new videos
- Quality assure videos
Organisational input
- Feed into or lead on partnership discussions where relevant based on content and curriculum expertise.
- Based on content and curriculum expertise, feed into strategic discussions as required.
- Contribute to organisational conversations outside of the programme content when required.
Represent the charity externally
- Represent the charity at external events such as conferences or forums where there is opportunity.
- Network and build relationships that are placed to support our work and share knowledge around parental engagement.
- Present at events such as webinars where relevant based on content and curriculum expertise.
- Write external facing materials for example reports or blogs where relevant.
About You
A successful Curriculum Lead – Early Years will be eager to work in a small team, have a can-do attitude, and be keen to get stuck in to support the charity’s growth and impact.
Our ideal candidate would also be able to provide examples of when they have used the following skills and experience:
- Knowledge of the Early Years curricula
- Creative thinking about different ways of teaching and learning subjects
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with a range of stakeholders

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Children & Young People area at IRMO as an ESOL Tutor working with Spanish and Portuguese-speaking children and young people who have recently arrived in the country, speak little English and whose families are often still navigating the school admissions processes to enable them to access compulsory education in the UK. The overall aim of IRMO ESOL provision is to equip children with the English Language skills they need to: thrive and perform well at school and beyond; build their social, emotional and communication skills; reach their full potential; make new friends and reduce isolation.
The Children ESOL Tutor will lead on the delivery of weekly creative ESOL classes for three age groups: 5-8, 8-12 and 13-19 year olds alongside the help of volunteers. The post-holder will focus solely on delivering engaging ESOL classes to our children and young people, supporting their language development and confidence in a welcoming and inclusive environment. This role is supported by a lead ESOL tutor, and all class planning and resource development will be provided.
The teacher will also work closely with volunteers and contribute to short session reflections and brief/debrief discussions with the lead teacher before and after classes. The only administrative responsibility will be to complete class registers and occasional written reflections on individual children’s participation and progress.
The post-holder will have had ESOL experience working with children and young people (including online teaching) and will be familiar with the issues faced by migrant, asylum-seeking and refugee children in the UK. Ability to speak intermediate Spanish is essential for the role and knowledge of Portuguese or willingness to learn is a bonus. Availability during term-time and after-school hours is essential.
To ensure continuity of delivery, the postholder is expected to work during all Lambeth school term teaching weeks.
