Summer play worker jobs
Are you a solution-focused individual with great customer service skills, interested in developing your experience in a People Team function for a leading UK homelessness charity?
If the answer is yes, then we have the ideal role for you!
Temporary workers are vital to the continuous and effective running of St Mungo’s services. We have our bank of around 370 casual locum workers who, along with a range of temporary agency partners, cover staffing gaps across the organisation.
Working as part of a small sub-team within the wider Resourcing Team you will join us as a Resourcing Administrator and play a pivotal role in supporting the recruitment, onboarding and retention of casual workers and temporary agency staff across the organisation.
In this varied and interesting role, you will:
- Provide administrative support for a range of People activities relating to temporary staff, including recruitment, compliance, onboarding, payroll, L&D and offboarding.
- Carry out all pre-employment checks for casual workers to St Mungo’s Locum Bank, processing a high volume of applications from various sources including staff leavers, agency workers, students, volunteers and external applicants.
- Be the first point of contact for day-to-day queries from locums, managers and agencies, dealing promptly and effectively by phone, email and in person.
- Conduct agency audits and contribute to the ongoing compliance monitoring of agencies on St Mungo’s Agency Preferred Supplier List (PSL).
In this role you will be required to work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in London. This allows for training, in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. We support a flexible approach to work with opportunities for agile working for the rest of your week; from home, or other St Mungo’s London or regional locations.
About you
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have exceptional customer-service skills and proven experience working in a busy service environment.
- Strong planning and organisational skills and the ability to work on and prioritise a range of different and competing tasks.
- A close eye for detail and an appreciation of the importance of accuracy when monitoring and inputting People data.
- Some experience of working with database management systems – this may be a staff booking system, a core People system, ATS or LMS.
- The ability to problem-solve and the tenacity to see tasks through to completion.
Whilst advantageous, you don’t necessarily need to have extensive experience in a Recruitment or People role; what’s important is having a pro-active, ‘can do’ attitude, along with a willingness to learn!

Do you want to help bring modern contraception to women who have been excluded from access their entire lives? Join Lafiya as we scale a proven, community-based model that already reaches women in some of the hardest-to-serve areas of northern Nigeria.
Lafiya trains and supports government-employed female health workers to deliver self-injectable contraception directly in their own communities. More than 300,000 women have already been reached through this model. We are now strengthening our supply chain, expanding to new states, and building systems for long-term government co-financing. As we grow, smooth and reliable operations are essential to our impact.
About the role
This role sits at the centre of that effort. You will strengthen Lafiya’s internal systems, ensure compliance across our UK and Nigeria entities, support our people processes, and keep our logistics and supply chain moving. Your work will multiply the effectiveness of the whole organisation.
What you’ll do
- Support procurement and distribution systems for contraceptives, including SOPs and basic data dashboards
- Run end-to-end recruitment rounds, onboarding and offboarding, benefits administration, and performance reviews
- Lead key parts of UK charity compliance, including annual audit preparation and policy updates
- Drive process improvements that make the organisation faster, clearer, and more scalable
- Coordinate internal events, retreats, travel logistics and tech onboarding for the team
This job is for you if you…
- Spot problems early and enjoy fixing them fast
- Prefer doing to talking, and keep things moving without needing supervision
- Are organised and comfortable switching between many tasks
- Communicate clearly across different cultures and contexts
- Enjoy start-up environments where systems are still being built
- Are comfortable with spreadsheets and digital tools, or quick to learn them
We welcome early-career candidates as well as more experienced operations professionals. You don’t need to meet every point to apply.
Why join us
You will help shape a fast-growing organisation at a pivotal moment. We offer 30 days of annual leave, fully paid parental leave, flexible working arrangements, a weekly co-working day in London, and visa sponsorship where required.
