We’re the MS Society – a community of people living with MS, volunteers, scientists, campaigners, listeners, organisers, ambassadors and fundraisers. Join us today so that together we can stop MS.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team. As a volunteer you will play a crucial part in helping us deliver our EDI work. By attending four monthly meetings you will provide advice, feedback, guidance and personal opinion on our work. You will act as a bridge between our EDI activity group and our EDI reference group.

The EDI reference group is a group of people affected by MS who helped develop our EDI strategy and now help support our work towards its delivery. The EDI activity group is a staff group who have responsibility and accountability for the delivery of our EDI strategy.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are at the heart of our work. We work with volunteers, professionals and people with lived experience of MS to guide and direct our approach to EDI.

This role is a home-based role, which will require attending four online monthly meetings, and up to an hour of pre-reading before each one. One of these meetings will be between 12-5pm.

Are you interested in animal welfare and want to make a positive difference in your community? ROLDA UK are now seeking Volunteer Community Outreach Officer to help reach out to local volunteers, facilitate small activities in the community, and raise awareness of our charity's mission to rescue and rehabilitate stray and abandoned animals.

Your Role

• Help ROLDA UK build a local presence within your community by networking and growing local volunteers who are interested in animal welfare and ask them to join you.

ROLDA does not support visa applications for volunteers. All in-person volunteers must have the legal right to volunteer in the country where they are located. It is the volunteer's responsibility to ensure they meet the necessary visa and work authorisation requirements before participating in any activities with ROLDA. However, remote volunteer roles do not require a visa, as they can be performed from anywhere.

A bit about this role

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best – whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

What can you expect to be doing?

This is a really flexible role – you can choose what you’d like to get involved with:

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins
• Online fundraising – setting up online appeals, increasing social media engagement to maximise funds raised
• Marketing – spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  
• Championing our work – getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

Support, guidance and keeping you safe

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

Background  

The Four Nations Advisory Panel (FNAP) has been established by the National Emergencies Trust (The Trust) as a panel of representatives from each of the UK four nations that are able to advise on and support the development and delivery of the work of the National Emergencies Trust (the Trust), between and during emergency appeals.  

Contributions from the panel and individual members will help enable the Trust to continuously improve its knowledge and understanding of the four nations and their communities, so that it can be better informed when supporting survivors of UK emergencies. It will complement the work of the Mental Health, Equity and Survivors Advisory Panels in supporting a collaborative and inclusive approach by the Trust.  

The Terms of Reference for the Panel, which will report directly to the Trust’s Board can be found here. 

The Panel does not hold any decision-making powers in relation to operational and financial decisions by the Trust. 

Role Description  

The role: 

• Ensure each of the four nations are represented on the panel to ensure that relevant differences of culture, communities, administration and capacity are considered and taken account of by the Trust in its activities. 

• Advise the Board and Executive to enhance our reach, networks, and local understanding in each nation. 

• Brokering relationships with relevant organisations and individuals within the relevant home nation. 

• Representing and promoting the work of the Trust. 

• To inform and support the work of the Trust’s other Advisory Panels.  

During appeals:  

• Providing access to relevant intelligence, data and information networks. 

• Working with the emergency funding advisory board in Scotland and similar bodies which may be set up by the Government of each nation. 

• Co-opting additional members, particularly those that have valuable and relevant knowledge and networks (relevant to a nation and/or the type of emergency).

Members of the panel will be drawn from across the statutory and voluntary sectors, and it is anticipated that there will be a member from both sectors for each nation.  Individuals will hold existing roles and responsibilities that cover the whole of the nation they represent.

Quilombo UK is looking for a Bid Writer - Commercial Proposal Volunteer to join their team. Ideal candidates will assist Quilombo UK in preparing funding bids that contribute to their further development. They should be well-organized, with a proactive attitude to deliver work that adheres to the key objectives of the organization. Candidates should be willing to volunteer at least 12 hours a week, for a duration of 16 weeks.

You will be volunteering as part of the team who are responsible for creating the bids to attract funding for our new or existing projects. About Access Academia

Access Academia is the charitable umbrella which was created out of the creation of the student-led publication, the Journal of Intersectional Social Justice. When Journal of Intersectional Social Justice (JISJ) was created, there were not any expectations for the project to be any more than that: a student-led academic publication. However, as it rolled on, attention for the project widened and it began to cover other topics and get involved in other realms of knowledge sharing, activism, and content creation. The creation of the seminal Access Series on the Intersections blog springboarded the idea for the JISJ to turn into something much more than a simple academic publication. Now as we have restructured the JISJ into Access Academia, we are finalising our official registration as a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) in the UK. 

Our core purpose is to Make Academia More Accessible. We plan to accomplish this by many different avenues, as obviously it is a very wide-ranging goal! The main ways we plan to do this are through encouraging Open Access academia and knowledge sharing through the Access Series, expanding the themes covered on Intersections with additions such as Mental Health Mondays and Colonialism in Subject, creating accessible content across our social media platforms which encourages truthful and accurate knowledge sharing and activism, running research events to encourage students to publish and interact with academia, covering inside stories of academia, running student engagement programmes to try and make academia less of an Ivory Tower, and much more!

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Event Planning & Execution:

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of monthly charity events. This is a minimum of 1 online event per month.

  • Work closely with team members to ensure events are organized efficiently, within budget, and aligned with the charity’s mission.

  • Help with logistics, setup, and support during events.

  • Manage guest lists, invitations, and event communications.

• Annual Research Programme Coordination:

  • Support the coordination of the charity’s annual research programme. This is currently an annual programme, the Social Justice Research Fellowship, running in 2025 from June 2nd - August 8th.

  • Assist in organizing logistics, outreach, and scheduling for research participants.

  • Ensure that resources and materials are available for programme participants.

  • Track the progress of the programme and report on key milestones.

  • Contribute to planing and logistical initiatives surrounding expanding the provisions of research programmes, including brainstorming and coordination for potential new programmes.

• Collaboration & Teamwork:

  • Collaborate with internal teams and volunteers to ensure smooth event and programme execution.

  • Participate in regular team meetings, contributing ideas and insights.

  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improving the efficiency of events and programmes.

About us: GT Scholars is a charitable social enterprise that tackles educational inequality by giving ambitious young people the support, skills and strategies they need to achieve aspirations. Could you help to raise vital funds for SSAFA in your local area? You don’t need a military background, just the ability to get on with all kinds of people and some occasional free time.

What is a Branch Fundraiser?

As part of a local team, our fundraisers represent SSAFA at events, and in public. The role includes helping at fayres, street collections, concerts, quizzes, raffles, sporting events etc.

Why do we need you?

We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.

There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.

SSAFA branches rely on regular charitable income to fund all the necessities behind our support for clients. This includes volunteer travel expenses, phone bills, publicity, and grants for clients in urgent need. A varied programme of fundraising also keeps the SSAFA profile high in the local community, so everyone knows who we are and how we can help.

When would you be needed and where would you be based?

This role involves being out and about at public events and would suit someone looking to give the occasional day, half day or evening to support SSAFA; when and where would be flexible to suit you.

What would you be doing?

• Be part of a team with collection/buckets tins at events, supermarkets, shopping centres, etc.
• Acting as a marshal at a public event e.g., handing out water to runners, supervising parking etc.
• Being part of a team running a stall at an event, Armed Forces Day, fayre, county show etc.
• Helping with putting up posters, building gazebos, serving refreshments, packing/unpacking cars etc.
• Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA, engaging people of all backgrounds and interests
• Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA including observing our policies such as the Volunteering policy and data protection policy (these will be covered in your training and local induction.)

The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

If you are an undergraduate or graduate, you could make a difference by joining us as a volunteer tutor. As a volunteer tutor, you’ll need to:

• Provide online one-to-one tutoring support for 1 hour week

• Build pupil confidence in English.

• Have strong subject knowledge (confident enough to tutor up to GCSE)

• Work collaboratively with other tutors and mentors

• Have a minimum of an undergraduate degree or be working towards this

Who we are.

For almost 30 years, Hope and Homes for Children has been driven by an unwavering belief: every child deserves to grow up in a loving family, never in orphanages. We’re working to transform care systems and eliminate orphanages worldwide because we know that the last thing an orphanage can provide is the first thing a child needs – someone to love them. We help to bring millions of separated children back to family.

Our unique strength lies in our practice base – hands-on experience in successfully closing orphanages and reforming childcare systems. An estimated 5.4 million children live in institutions around the world. We’ve already helped reduce the number of children in Romanian institutions from over 100,000 to less than 4,000, and we’re close to eliminating ALL orphanages entirely in Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova and Rwanda whilst scaling our work across India, Nepal, South Africa, Kenya, and Ukraine to support overhauling their child care systems.

Our advocacy reached a watershed moment when all 193 UN member states unanimously agreed that orphanages must be eliminated – a historic first in global child welfare. Now, with refreshed branding and strategic partnerships that amplify our impact, we’re embarking on our most ambitious decade yet. Our goal? To create a decisive shift in how policymakers, businesses, and society view institutional care, establishing family-based care as the only acceptable standard.

We’re architects of systemic change, successfully influencing EU funding regulations to prioritise family-based care over institutions. We’re also working closely with governments to ensure child care reform remains central to Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts, and spearheading major conferences across Asia.  We’re building unstoppable momentum for change.

The opportunity.

As poverty deepens and discrimination persists, an estimated 5.4 million children remain confined in orphanages – 80% of whom have at least one living family member who could care for them with the right support. This is why our work has never been more critical.

We stand at a pivotal moment. By 2030, we aim to build a global consensus that orphanages are an unacceptable way to care for children. Working as a catalyst, our strategy ‘Alive With Hope’ focuses on three key objectives:

• Implementing national reform across 9 countries.
• Building influential partnerships to secure significant commitments to make child care reform a human imperative.
• Developing innovative financing mechanisms to support global reform.

To help drive this ambitious agenda forward, we’re seeking three exceptional individuals who share our unwavering commitment to transforming children’s lives to join us as trustees.

Who we are looking for.

As we drive toward this ambitious goal, and current board members come to the end of their terms, we are looking for someone to join us with the following skills and experiences:

• Strategic Leader: We’re seeking an individual with significant experience in one or more of the following areas; governance, risk management, partnerships, advocacy, or NGO leadership to strengthen our strategic oversight and help drive our ambitious plans forward. Understanding of the charity sector would be particularly valuable.

While Board meetings are usually held in London, there are options to join virtually, and we are open to applications from individuals based in any location.

We’re looking for individuals who:

• Bring energy, rigour, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
• Can act as critical friends, asking the challenging questions while remaining supportive.
• Are willing to invest time in understanding our work.

Time commitment.

Our Board meets quarterly in London (with an option to join virtually), with meetings designed to maximise engagement and impact. We also hold an annual two-day away day, either in the UK or one of our operational countries, providing valuable insights into our frontline work. Subcommittees meet virtually, 4-5 times annually, ensuring efficient use of trustees’ time while maintaining robust governance. Overall, we expect the time commitment to be up to a day a month, including board and committee meetings, ad hoc discussions and preparation for board meetings.

Responsibilities: Facilitators are responsible for designing creative and interactive workshops for our young people, and delivering these workshops with our young people. We run some of our workshops online and other workshops are held in London. All workshops are held during the school holidays, in the evening and on weekends.

The workshop facilitator role is flexible and as part of your role, you may be involved in:

• Delivering and leading short workshops or courses, on behalf of GT Scholars (Online or offline)

• Designing engaging, interactive and educational workshops and short courses for young people and ensuring that the content is targeted to suit different abilities and capabilities

• Running your own bespoke workshops, eg. workshops in coding and technology

• Managing short activities and Q&A sessions during our workshops

• Working collaboratively with other event coordinators, volunteers, ambassadors, workshop facilitators and speakers at our events

• Following the agreed timings and content for workshops and courses

Person specification: 

As workshop facilitator, you will need to:

• Have passion, knowledge and experience in coding, computing and technology

• Have strong presentation skills

• Have strong communication skills

• Be personable and able to confidently communicate with people from a range of backgrounds and professions.

• Be passionate and committed to tackling educational inequality

• Be punctual and organised

Availability: Workshops will run during the day on school holiday dates, on Saturdays or in the evening (5pm-8pm).
