As a Community Volunteer there is a wide range of impacts that you could have. You could contribute to raising first aid awareness in your community. The Role: Events Volunteer

What will you do?

By joining the Cockpit team as a volunteer, you help us by being an on-site presence at our events, and you will actively engage with those running the event, offer help, talk to and guide visitors around the building, and pass any problems/issues back to the event manager. 

Key qualities: 

• Ideal for someone with a genuine interest in craft and the creative sector and keen to learn from interactions with the core team and makers

• Good communication skills, friendly and with a natural ability to engage with the public

• Confident with sharing some knowledge with visitors about Cockpit and what it does as a charity

• Possess a calm and measured presence to assist with the smooth delivery of the events

• Have some experience of working at events, customer service, and/or invigilating exhibitions

Hours of Work:

Expenses 

• A stipend of £25 is available to cover daily travel expenses and food allowance. Please provide receipts with your claim form.

Chair of Trustees role:

You will be chairing the Board of Trustees, ensuring that we have minimum representation required for decisions to be made, keeping the board aligned in decision-making, ensuring all minutes are recorded and that all decisions by trustees are made with the appropriate context provided.

This is a great opportunity to develop further governance skills and experience, and help steer an important charity in the right direction.

Trustees meetings are usually held every six weeks, plus there is an AGM, away days, and any sub-committee meetings that trustees may be involved in. Most meetings will remain virtual but there will from time to time be a need to attend key meetings and events in Nottingham. The time commitment is approximately 4hours per month, but there may be occasions when more time is required for a short period.

As Clinical Therapy Lead, you will provide guidance and oversight for therapy and emotional support activities within the organisation. This role combines professional clinical insight with practical collaboration to help build safe and supportive therapy systems for the community.

Essential Experience

• Professional qualification and registration in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Psychotherapy, Counselling, or a related discipline (HCPC, BACP, UKCP, BABCP or equivalent).

Keep warehouse area clean and tidy at all times. Prepare stock orders for the food bank centres and/or emergency food boxes, as appropriate. Assist in undertaking an annual stock take as detailed in the food bank operating manual. Report any health & safety or safeguarding concerns to the Foodbank and Warehouse Manager. Complete Brent Foodbank training modules.

As part of your role we will provide you with full training, support and supervision. This role supports our fundraising efforts by identifying and researching potential donors, funders, and partners. Responsibilities include online research, data analysis, and preparing prospect profiles to support strategic fundraising.

Join our team and inspire others to exercise through a weekly walk. You will create an opportunity for people to support each other, provide that additional boost to exercise and go for a walk even when they may not be feeling the motivation.

What you will be doing

• Coordinate and facilitate weekly walks in local parks to the service alongside other volunteers
• Meet with the walking group weekly
• Hold conversations with people attending the group, checking in on their wellbeing and providing a listening ear/friendly face
• Keep a record of attendees, provide feedback, and report any concerns to the staff team
• Ability to provide a supportive, and inclusive atmosphere that encourages participation

The skills you need

• Inspire and motivate people to attend the walking group
• Ability to identify, manage any possible risks that may arise during the walking group. Training will be provided
• Willing and able to go on a weekly walk lasting approximately 60-90 minutes
• Good communication skills
• Calm and patient approach
