The RSPCA Finchley, Golders Green, Hendon & District Branch
The RSPCA Finchley, Golders Green, Hendon & District Branch is one of the branches of RSPCA, but we are also a separately registered charity looking after animals in our local area. Much of the animal welfare work of RSPCA is carried out through local branches, which is run by volunteers who have the support of the National Society of RSPCA.
The main activity of our branch is local animal welfare. We take in neglected, abandoned & vulnerable animals locally, via our own animal welfare officer, as well as the national RSPCA Inspectorate officers. Our funds are mostly raised through our 2 charity shops.
Fundraising Volunteer responsibilities
- Organise, advertise, and promote fundraising activities to raise vital funds to improve animal welfare.
- Plan and participate in organised events for fundraising over an agreed period.
- Communicate all planned activities with staff and other volunteers.

You could be part of our exciting pilot project as a volunteer Parish Nurse offering life-transforming whole-person healthcare, working alongside Chaplains, Complex Needs and Housing Support Workers.
As a YMCA Parish Nurse you would:
- Help service users identify issues and self-manage their wellbeing so they flourish in body, mind and spirit. This might be 1:2:1 or in a group setting.
- Signpost, support, and provide information and reassurance enabling service users to access NHS and other professional or community support as well as internal support from YMCA colleagues and projects.
- Offer spiritual care from a Christian perspective, such as prayer or acts of worship
- Be instrumental in supporting the project develop in this pilot phase
Training for this role is provided by PNMUK as part of their on-going programme of support and personal development for Parish Nursing nationally. The next course is 15-17th November with follow-up online sessions.
This project is being developed and lead by One YMCA’s Chaplaincy Team, together with our Medium Complex Intensive Support Service (MCISS) and supported by Parish Nursing Ministries UK (PNMUK).

Our books contain thought-provoking discussion questions directly related to the topic of the book, e.g. mental health, Knife crime etc. The books also have activities for young people to go through during a workshop or at home with their parents,keyworker,appropriate adult. Do you want to co-ordinate vegan volunteering?
As an Organiser, you would be the caretaker of your local area. This is the more time-intensive role but so rewarding! Tasks would be emailed to you directly every month by our Volunteering Coordinator, who would be your main point of contact here at The Vegan Society. It would then be your job to send out the task to Advocates in your local area and get feedback from them. You'll also be able to ask your Advocates for help with any stalls and lobbying. Every Organiser receives an outreach pack, including a table runner, leaflets and banners. We make sure you are fully supported with an Organisers' WhatsApp group for socialising and ideas. We also have a monthly gathering on video.
What does the Organiser role involve?
Every month, you will be sent a collection of tasks to choose from. We create these from our programme of campaigns. You would be the point of contact for Advocates in your area, sharing these tasks and coordinating activities, such as stalls and lobbying councillors. We will provide you with a campaign toolkit and be in regular contact with you to ensure you have everything you need. You will also be invited to our private Facebook group and WhatsApp chat.
We would expect you to provide any updates from your group and give feedback on each task. It's vital that we measure the impact that we are having, in terms of positive conversations and leaflets handed out. You can also give us ideas you have for future outreach tasks or campaigning. Many Organisers find a huge sense of satisfaction, improvement in self-esteem and enjoy the social side of volunteering in this role.
You will also be responsible for welcoming new Advocates in your area. We will let you know when somebody new applies, and you will help them to get involved with any activities. As the main contact for Advocates, this role does require some awareness of safeguarding and data protection procedures and policy. There will be full training on your role in this, as well as a handbook and ongoing guidance and support.
What training and support is available?
There will be a full induction to the role, with a gradual introduction of new tasks and responsibilities. To start with, we will provide an initial training session to cover the basics of community organising, communication skills and event planning. This will be done remotely from wherever you are. Along with this, we will provide a full pack of resources that covers a range of work that we do.
From there, there will be regular conversations and reviews, where we can discuss other training requirements. Staff are always available to Organisers for any questions, via phone or email.

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education.
We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient by sharing your first aid skills and knowledge. As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.
Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives.

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. Interview day will be Saturday 5th July 2025 between 9am -13:00. This will be held at the Sidcup HQ in person with the management team of the network along with a few other interviews and some cadets to help assist with the day. All candidates must be available to attend
The Course will run for the CFA qualification on Sunday 7th September and Sunday 21st September and you have to be around for both dates as its a 2 day course with E-learning to be completed before.
Every member who joins will be agreeing to attend 2 meeting nights that are held at Erith Vets club every Monday evening between 20:00-21:30 apart from summer holidays and bank holidays. Every member is also agreeing to complete the minimum of 80 event hours per year to add to their years of service and serve the local community.
First Monday evening will be on Monday 7th July which will be a scenario night followed by a social night on the 14th July which will allow team building exercises. Each new member will be allocated a buddy who is the same skill level or above so they can guide them through the recruitment process around the systems we use.

Volunteer Safeguarding Lead for Watford and Three Rivers Refugee Partnership (WTRRP)
Job summary: The Safeguarding Lead will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and overseeing safeguarding policies and procedures. This individual will work closely with staff, volunteers, and the Committee to promote a safe environment and handle any safeguarding concerns effectively.
WTRRP is a registered charity (England, reg no 1162226) that exists to support people in the Watford Borough and Three Rivers District of West Hertfordshire, who do not yet have status in the UK, or who have specific needs related to their application process or welfare. Currently WTRRP has around 160 live cases (defined as a family unit or individual currently in need of our help).
WTRRP is run by a Committee, which includes several Trustees. The Committee meets typically every 2 months and also for an Annual General Meeting, but it also provides day-to-day support to our staff members (Casework Coordinator and part-time Office Manager) and to our ~80 volunteers.
The main roles of the charity are to run a drop-in session every Tuesday (at St Mary’s Church in central Watford), a social hub at the same time, and to provide financial and other assistance to its clients for their application process for leave to remain in the UK.
Commitment: [ approximately 5 hours per week]
Key Responsibilities:
Policy Development: Develop and regularly review safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure they are up-to-date and compliant with legal and best practice standards.
Training: Organize safeguarding training sessions for staff and volunteers and review exisiting training.
Support: Provide guidance and support to staff and volunteers on safeguarding matters, including responding to concerns and allegations.
Monitoring: Monitor the implementation of safeguarding policies and practices across the organization.
Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safeguarding concerns and incidents, and ensure timely reporting to relevant authorities and stakeholders.
Review: Conduct regular reviews of safeguarding practices and make recommendations for improvements.
Key Requirements:
Experience: Prior experience in safeguarding, child protection, or a related field is preferred. Experience in a leadership or advisory role is advantageous.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practices. Knowledge of working with vulnerable individuals is essential.
Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
Commitment: A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. The role will require approximately 5 hours per week.
Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in safeguarding, child protection, or related areas are desirable. Training in safeguarding is a plus.

It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. As an Outreach Volunteer you will be assisting Outreach Workers to carry out shifts, adding vital capacity to the team, and enabling us to engage with more rough sleepers who have been referred both via StreetLink and those already known to the team. You will support with navigation, client assessments and note taking while engaging with rough sleeping clients with sensitivity and respect. You may also be helping clients access support around immigration, employment and reconnections and accommodation. Outreach shifts will involve walking long distances to different locations, and often start in the evening or early in the morning so please bear in mind if this is the right role for you.
What will I be doing?
As an Outreach Volunteer you will be providing hands on street outreach with vulnerable individuals through an assertive outreach approach. In this role, you will be supporting us with some or all of the following tasks: • Assisting outreach workers to carry out shifts and look for referrals. • Engaging with rough sleepers (who have just been referred to or are already known to the team) in a street setting. • Supporting clients to access appropriate support by completing assessments and establishing support plans • Supporting outreach workers with recording information. • Adhering to St Mungo’s Policies and Procedures at all times.
Do I need to have any specific skills?
• Have personal resilience. • Physical ability to work on the streets (there can be a lot of walking involved) and take on early start/ late finish shifts. • Good IT skills. • Client and customer focused. • Being approachable with good interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and motivation. • Collaborative, reliable with good communication skills. • An understanding of the causes of homelessness and its impact. • Genuine interest in and commitment to St Mungo’s work and client group. • An understanding of and commitment to diversity & equality.
