Job description
Do you have the drive and values to make a real impact on someone’s life?

Sense has a great opportunity for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as a Community Support Worker in Bristol. We have a range of permanent roles working from 2 hours per week attracting an hourly pay rate of £9.08 per hour.

We also have the opportunity to support our Bristol Supported living services, attracting an hourly rate of £9.25.

Or you can become a bank/relief worker attracting an hourly rate of £8.47

About the role…

We are looking for reliable and motivated people to come and work as Support Workers to work in the Bristol community. Our Support workers offer support to adults, young adults and children with a range of complex needs, including sensory impairments, learning difficulties and autism.  You will be there to support the individual to do the things they want to do, acting as their eyes, ears and voice.  You will be supporting them with communication, ensuring that information is presented in a clear and accessible way.  Some of our individuals use Makaton, BSL, or pictorial communications i.e. PECS and so we are therefore particularly keen to hear from anyone who is already able to communicate in this way (though this is not essential as on the job training will be provided). You will be working to ensure all the people we support are able to lead active and fulfilling lives.  The support you provide may be in someone's home, in a care establishment, or within the local community.

Everyone we support has differing needs and some could have limited verbal communications, express challenging behaviours or need personal care. You will be required to enable the individual to be as independent as possible by trying new activities, supporting with tasks that are currently a struggle and working closely with family members and other professionals involved in the person's life. Support normally starts from an individual's home.

What we need from you…

We support people all over Bristol, so you must be able to drive, have access to a vehicle and be willing to work in different locations.

If you are happy to work flexibly on a casual contract, during the day, evenings and school holidays, we look forward to hearing from you. We honour regular working hours with an hourly contract, so whilst you may start on a casual hour contract, there is the potential to change to a fixed hour contract in the future.

In return we will offer you…

• From £8.47 per hour
• Bespoke, rewarding career pathways
• The opportunity to work in a large, diverse and successful charity where you can develop your skills, knowledge and career in a supportive and flexible environment.
• Group Personal Pension scheme
• Generous annual leave entitlement
• Comprehensive induction and commitment to ongoing training
• Enhanced disclosure cost covered
