Race Against Blood Cancer, a small but mighty charity with huge potential, is seeking a new General Manager to lead the organisation.
The cure for chemotherapy-resistant blood cancers - such as lymphoma, leukaemia and myeloma - relies on finding stem cell donors with a similar ethnic background; currently 4 in 5 patients with Global Majority heritage do not find a match. Through donor recruitment & education, community engagement and by building strategic partnerships, RABC works to increase the volume and ethnic diversity of people who register as potentially life-saving donors; we believe every blood cancer patient deserves an equal chance of finding a potentially life-saving stem cell match.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The charity has an ambitious plan to build on its success and do even more to improve outcomes for blood cancer patients from Global Majority communities. Working with a group of committed professionals and a small team, you’ll use your existing charity sector experience to implement our new growth strategy as well as having responsibility for the day-to-day running of the organisation. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is looking to move into their first charity leadership role or for a candidate who has a real passion to reduce health inequalities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leadership of our small, committed team of employees and contractors
- Operational implementation of the three-year organizational strategy to fulfil our ambitious growth aspirations
- Acting as the key contact for our registry partners and representing the charity among our wider stakeholders
- Implementation of good governance throughout the organization and keeping the board abreast of operational progress, challenges and opportunities
- Financial and budgetary management
- Leading on fundraising and communications for the organisation.

11.25 hours per week across 1.5 days
Education Workers are based at one of our IntoUniversity learning centres and work directly with young people, schools and families on a daily basis. It is therefore not a hybrid role and is based full-time in our centres.

IntoUniversity Newcastle East
The role requires intermittent travel in your region (usually within the day) this can involve journeys times of 1 hour+. Occasional travel out of your local area e.g. to London is also required, this may include overnight stays.
Salary
£28,250 per annum (pro rata)

What could my day look like?
The Education Worker role is a frontline, fast-paced and rewarding role where no two weeks will look the same. A typical day will have different activities, possibly spread between the IntoUniversity centre, partner schools and the offices of a corporate partner.
In the morning, you might be setting off with resources to run a workshop for sixth-form students in their secondary school. In the afternoon you may be setting up the classroom ahead of running Primary Academic Support for young people in your IntoUniversity centre. On other days, you may be travelling to a corporate partner to run a business simulation workshop for 15 year-olds or leading a group of final year primary school students on a campus visit for their graduation.
As an Education Worker, you’ll always be delivering the programme as part of your centre team, which means that any delivery is always a team effort.

We are an award-winning national charity and a registered veterinary practice with the RCVS, providing free, accessible vet care to pets belonging to those experiencing homelessness across the UK. Our dedicated team of volunteer veterinary professionals deliver essential services where support is needed. We take our experience out of the consulting room and onto the pavements to provide the same first opinion vet care you would expect to receive in a practice.
StreetVet also works to remove barriers to accommodation and homelessness service through our Accredited Hostel and Day Centre Scheme, which helps hostels, day centres, and hubs implement positive pet policies and become pet-inclusive. This includes free veterinary care for registered pets, staff training, essential pet supplies, and access to virtual vet consultations via our telemedicine platform. The scheme empowers hostels to welcome pet owners without forcing them to choose between a roof over their head and their beloved companion.

Role Description
The Hostel & Day Centre Coordinator (North) will work closely with the Hostel and Day Centre Manager and the Coordinator (South) to ensure the effective administration and smooth day-to-day operations of the StreetVet Accredited Hostel & Day Centre Schemes. This role plays a key part in welcoming and onboarding new hostels and day centres into the network and supporting the ongoing engagement and success of existing partners. By fostering strong relationships with hostels, day centres, suppliers, and sponsors, the post holder will help build a connected and responsive community that ultimately supports more pets accessing hostels and day centres. Acting as a central point of contact, they will collaborate across internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure queries are addressed efficiently and support is delivered consistently.
StreetVet is a small team of 15 employees and so we expect people to be highly flexible in their roles, a team player with a “can do” attitude, willing to turn their hand to anything that needs to be done.
