We are recruiting two Policy and Public Affairs Officers to join our Policy and Influencing team at Blood Cancer UK. One role will be based in London and focus on policy and public affairs activity across England and Wales, while the other will be based in Edinburgh and lead our work in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Both roles will play a vital part in ensuring that the voices of people affected by blood cancer are heard by decision-makers and that evidence-based solutions influence governments, health systems and policymakers across the UK.
Working as part of a collaborative UK-wide team, you will develop evidence-based policy positions, build and maintain relationships with parliamentarians, government officials and health stakeholders, and produce high-quality briefings and consultation responses. You will also represent Blood Cancer UK at meetings, events and stakeholder forums, helping to influence policy and drive meaningful change for people affected by blood cancer.
This role will require regular travel within your respective nations (England and Wales or Scotland and Northern Ireland) to attend meetings, events and stakeholder engagement activities. In addition, there will be occasional travel across the UK, including to London, Cardiff, or Edinburgh, Belfast and other locations, to support cross-UK influencing activity, team meetings and organisational events.

The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) is a membership organisation and the voice of the profession, with over 4,750 members in the UK and overseas. Our role is to champion the specialty, set standards of training and practice, and influence change to make a difference to the lives of patients with eye conditions.
Job Purpose
The Director of Examinations plays an important role within the College, providing strategic leadership, oversight and delivery of our exam function in the UK and overseas, at the same time as ensuring alignment with best practice and GMC standards.
This role has responsibility for a budget of £2M+ and for the delivery of exams to around 3,000 candidates each year. The postholder is also responsible for leading a team of six members of staff and forms a key part of our Senior Leadership Team, taking corporate responsibility for the overall direction and operational management of the College.
Main responsibilities
1. To oversee the strategic direction and delivery of exams
Provide strategic leadership for the College's examination function, ensuring all examinations are designed, delivered and continuously improved in accordance with the College's strategic objectives, regulatory requirements, obligations and recognised best practice
Develop and implement the long-term exams strategy, anticipating future developments in medical education, assessment, AI technology and regulation to identify opportunities, manage risks and ensure the continued relevance and sustainability of the College's examinations

Provide strategic oversight of the recruitment, development and performance of the College's volunteer examiner workforce, ensuring examiners are appropriately trained, supported and calibrated to deliver assessments in accordance with regulatory requirements and recognised best practice
Serve as the executive lead for the College's Examinations Committee and its subcommittee structure, providing strategic advice, governance support and assurance to enable effective oversight of the examination function and its ongoing development
Lead the College's relationship with the GMC, acting as the principal point of engagement on examination matters. Ensure timely and robust regulatory reporting, represent the College in formal discussions, and provide assurance that examinations continue to meet all applicable regulatory standards

You are confident navigating the rapidly changing media landscape and as comfortable crafting a social campaign as you are pitching a broadsheet journalist.
You know how to tell complex stories simply without losing rigour. You understand that both message and messenger matter, and you know how to target both to diverse audiences across different markets and cultures.
Duties and responsibilities
Strategy
Lead and continuously refine ASL's communications strategy
Develop integrated campaigns that combine digital, earned media and stakeholder engagement to maximise impact
Identify emerging opportunities and risks in the communications landscape
Digital campaigning
Lead ASL's digital campaign strategy across social, email and content channels
Oversee content production, ensuring quality, consistency and platform-appropriate storytelling
Harness data and analytics to test messaging, track performance and optimise campaigns
Media liaison and PR
Develop and maintain relationships with key journalists across target markets
Build and manage media contact databases
Develop pitch content, press materials and key messaging
Identify and capitalise on media moments
Management
Manage external contractors and agency relationships
Lead a diverse, distributed team
Support spokespeople with messaging, briefings and media preparation
Selection criteria
Essential
Demonstrated experience developing and executing communications strategies for international campaigns with measurable outcomes
Strong digital campaign experience: social strategy, content, community building, analytics and paid amplification
Demonstrated experience securing top-tier targeted media coverage across varied markets
Experience crafting, testing and iterating topline messages
Ability to communicate complex material clearly without sacrificing accuracy or credibility
Comfortable leading a remote, globally distributed team
Fluency in English.
Desirable
Experience working across diverse regions and stakeholder communities
Experience with AV production and multimedia content
Media training skills
Familiarity with corporate climate accountability, energy transition or adjacent issue areas
