Your role as our Education Trustee

As a trustee, you will act as a critical friend to our CEO and education team, helping us refine our curriculum and engagement with schools. Specifically, you will:

✅ Challenge and support our CEO to ensure our curriculum is evidence-informed and aligned with school needs.

✅ Help shape our engagement strategy, making it easier for schools to access and benefit from our programmes.

✅ Advise on best practices in education and share insights from your leadership experience.

✅ Support the scaling of our impact, ensuring our growth is sustainable and beneficial for schools.

Time commitment & flexibility

We respect the demanding schedules of school leaders, so we structure our commitments with maximum flexibility:

�� Induction – Approx. 6 hours to familiarise yourself with our programme and approach.

�� Ongoing - 6 hours on a quarterly basis including:

Quarterly Education & Safeguarding Committee – 1-hour remote meeting, with up to 1 hour of prep.

Quarterly Full Board Meeting – 2-hour in-person meeting (ideally, but remote options available), with up to 2 hours of prep. We encourage in-person attendance as we socialise as a board afterward, but we fully understand when this isn’t possible.

�� Additional support – As available, based on your interest and capacity.

What we’re looking for:

✔ Experience in school leadership, with a strong understanding of how schools operate.

✔ Teaching experience, ideally recent, to ensure familiarity with classroom realities.

✔ Commitment to our mission of empowering young people through character education.

➕ We'd love it if you also had knowledge of or experience with schools in Newham and it's neighbouring boroughs, Bedford, or Luton.

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Fundraising to lead and develop our fundraising strategy at a crucial time in Youth Advantage UK's growth. What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in fundraising, with a strong track record across digital campaigns, corporate partnerships and grant fundraising.
• Leadership experience in managing and developing fundraising teams or volunteers.
• A strategic mindset with the ability to think big and execute effectively in a resource-constrained environment.
• Hands-on experience in managing the day-to-day operations of fundraising campaigns while being able to step back and think at a strategic level.
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage diverse stakeholders.
• A passion for the cause – a genuine belief in the mission of Youth Advantage UK and a commitment to making a difference.
• Familiarity with digital fundraising tools and social media platforms for promoting campaigns (desirable but not essential).

Urban Youth is a brand-new youth work charity being set up to build a vibrant community for young people across London. Our mission is to provide engaging youth work activities, offer positive mentorship, and create safe spaces where young people can thrive, develop new skills, discover themselves and reach their full potential.

We're currently in the crucial setup phase, and we need your help to connect with our audience and build a vibrant online presence and are therefore looking for a dedicated Volunteer for Communications & Social Media to help us spread our reach, attract and recruit young people to our programmes, and encourage vital support through donations and volunteering. This is a unique chance to be involved from the very beginning, directly influencing our public voice and impact.

What will you do?

In this pivotal role, you'll help us tell the Urban Youth story and engage our community online.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Content Creation: Developing engaging social media posts, stories, and visuals (graphics, short videos) for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X (Twitter).

• Audience Engagement: Helping to manage our social media channels, responding to comments, and fostering a positive online community.

• Campaign Support: Assisting with the creation and execution of digital campaigns to recruit young people for our programmes, encourage volunteering, and drive donations.

• Website & Newsletter Support: Contributing to basic website updates or helping to draft content for initial newsletters and email communications.

• Strategy Input: Providing ideas and insights into our overall communications and social media strategy to maximise our reach and impact.

Who are we looking for?

We need someone who is not only passionate about empowering young people but also brings practical skills and creativity in digital communications.

You should be:

• Social Media Savvy: Experienced with various social media platforms and understand what makes content engaging.

• Creative Thinker: Able to generate fresh ideas for content and campaigns.

• Strong Communicator: Excellent written communication skills; able to craft clear, concise, and compelling messages.

• Detail-Oriented: Able to maintain brand consistency and accuracy in all communications.

• Proactive & Reliable: Someone who can take initiative and manage tasks independently.

• Committed: Willing to dedicate a few hours a week (flexible, can often be done remotely) to help us build Urban Youth from the ground up. Experience with graphic design tools (like Canva) or video editing is a bonus!

This is a unique chance to be involved from the very beginning, directly contributing to our ability to reach and support young Londoners.

What will you do?

In this pivotal role, you'll be instrumental in securing the seed funding we need to get started.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Grant Research & Application: Researching and identifying suitable grant opportunities from trusts, foundations, and corporate social responsibility programmes. You'll then assist with or lead on drafting compelling grant applications to secure vital seed funding.

• Fundraising Event Planning: Taking the lead on planning and organising a range of initial fundraising events and activities. This could involve small community events, online campaigns, or creative initiatives to raise awareness and funds.

• Donor Cultivation Support: Helping to identify potential individual donors or corporate partners and assisting with initial outreach strategies.

• Budgeting & Tracking: Supporting the development of basic fundraising budgets and helping to track income and expenditure for fundraising activities.

Who are we looking for?

• Proactive & Self-Motivated: Able to take initiative, identify opportunities, and drive tasks forward with minimal supervision.

• Committed: Willing to dedicate a few hours a week (flexible, all tasks can be done remotely) to help us build Urban Youth from the ground up. Experience in fundraising or bid writing is a bonus, but a strong willingness to learn is just as valued!
