Voluntary Action North Somerset are seeking a new Trustee

Location: Weston Super Mare

Time Commitment: c.6-12hrs per month

Remuneration: This is a voluntary, unremunerated role. VANS will reimburse its Trustees for reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out their duties.

Voluntary Action North Somerset (VANS) is an independent charity that has championed the non-profit sector across North Somerset for over 27 years. They are dedicated to creating a connected, inclusive, and thriving community for all. ​

VANS’ central mission, primarily but not exclusively in North Somerset, is to champion, support and strengthen the role of the non-profit sector, including voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise organisations; to establish projects that address the needs of the people in our communities; and to strive to grow this mission on a sustainable, long-term basis.

Experience:

They are looking for people with general management experience, a commitment to the non-profit sector and a demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a team, combined with integrity and strategic vision, and able to make the time commitment required to make a real difference, as outlined above.

Prior experience of voluntary, non-executive or Trustee work, while not essential, would be of interest and specific areas of interest include:

· Finance

· Human Resources

· Business/charity connections

· IT/Digital Systems management.

The Lyric’s Nomination Committee is seeking a new Chair for Lyric Hammersmith Enterprises Ltd, who will also serve as a Trustee of Lyric. The subsidiary is governed by a non-executive Board of Directors, chaired by this role.  Lyric Hammersmith Enterprises is responsible the Lyric’s non-charitable trading operations including catering, hires and events. Our commercial income is critical to helping the Lyric achieve its artistic and charitable objectives.

We are looking for a Chair with influence and authority, strategic thinking and sound judgement with particular expertise in commercial operations and income generation. You will need to share a passion for our artistic work and our commitment to being an equal, diverse, inclusive and environmentally sustainable organisation.

This role will serve as a Trustee to the charity, joining the existing Board for an initial three-year term. Trustees support the Chair, Lorraine Heggessey, and offer their expertise and guidance to the Executive Team.

We are particularly interested in those who have a strong connection with West London.

Join our ever expanding team of therapists to deliver face to face counselling to anyone over the age of 18 years, in South West London.

You will become part of an organisation that is passionate about providing support for the local community, along with therapists from a diverse range of backgrounds.

We ask for therapists to:

• Have completed at least 100 hours of face to face, supervised clinical experience completed. Relevant work / life experience will be considered.
• Be qualified to Level 5 diploma level or be enrolled on the 2nd year of a BACP or UKCP accredited course.
• Be able to commit to three clients a week, for a minimum of 2 years.
• Attend personal therapy throughout their placement while a trainee.
• Attend fortnightly Richmond AID supervision.
• Hold membership of their relevant awarding body

About the role 

You will be volunteering alongside our Community Engagement team, where activities will change and adapt based on client feedback and their evolving needs. Volunteers will help to facilitate activities and events across the borough, including but not limited to our digital inclusion drop-in sessions, coffee mornings, LGBTQ+ group and future activities which will include a gardening club and walking group. Most of our activities run for an hour or two, and we require volunteers to commit to attending at least one session a month. 

About the service 

Various opportunities are available based on our event schedule, which runs weekdays between the hours of 9am-4pm for 1–2 hours..

As a volunteer Head Roller Skate Coach, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the roller skating sessions at RollaDome All Skate. This role offers you the opportunity to develop your coaching experience and contribute to the growth and success of RollaDome’s programs while supporting the development of youth and community members. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead and oversee roller skate coaching sessions for various age groups and skill levels. 

• Develop and implement lesson plans to teach roller skating techniques, safety, and skills. 

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during coaching sessions. 

• Provide support and guidance to other coaches and volunteers. 

• Evaluate and track participant progress, providing feedback to enhance their development.

• Assist in the promotion of roller skating sessions and events within the community. 

Skills & Qualifications 

• Passion for roller skating and teaching others. 

• Previous experience in coaching or teaching roller skating (desirable).

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. 

• First aid qualification (desirable).

Without the passionate and committed teams of volunteers across Cats Protection we wouldn’t be able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us for help. The purpose of this role is to support the organisation with communications and administration at a local level. You’ll play an active part in the branch committee and support the branch with record keeping and planning, thus enabling more cats to be helped. 

What can you expect to be doing?

• Disseminating relevant organisation-wide information and updates to the branch volunteers

• Supporting engagement and communication between the branch and wider organisation

• Drafting committee meeting agendas and taking and sharing meeting minutes

• Supporting the efficient running of the branch by ensuring administration processes are carried out effectively

• Supporting the administration and update of the branch annual plan

• Sign-posting queries from members of the public

• Keeping branch records and information up to date and secure, using Cats Protection systems – training will be provided
