Could you be our New Charity Trustee? We are seeking to recruit a new Trustee to our Board who is passionate about ensuring inclusion for all young people with additional needs and disabilities.

Every year, Me2 Club matches over 130 children who have additional needs or disabilities with committed and passionate volunteers to help them attend and take part in mainstream leisure activities. We tackle the impact of exclusion and social isolation experienced by children and young people and help build their confidence, self-esteem and independence. 

As a member of the Board of Trustees you will be jointly responsible for the legal, effective and safe running of Me2 Club. Working with other Trustees and the Chief Executive Officer you will provide strategic leadership to a growing and ambitious charity. As one of our ‘guardians of purpose’ you’ll make sure that all our decisions put the needs of children and their families first. 

You’ll attend and contribute at regular Board meetings and have the opportunity to get involved in charitable activities from fundraising to meeting beneficiaries at family events.

Welcome Event (Induction) - Welcome and induction will take place between 7th July and 3rd August which will include full induction including with buddies. The new volunteers will not be attending any events during this phase

Training for role - Must be available to attend the training which is scheduled for 26th & 27th July 2025. Regular unit meetings are held on Wednesday evenings during school term times.

As we start to concentrate on new product development, especially in our Signage and Woodwork enterprises, but seek to consolidate our existing offers at the same time, expertise in how best to reach the right markets would be a much welcomed addition to our trustee skillset.

Construction/Facilities 

We own our building. We love it, but it leaks when it rains, is difficult and expensive to heat and maintain. We have ambitious plans to ‘Raise the Roof’ (ie, build a new one), to build in a mezzanine floor to create capacity for growth, and to remodel our front of house. We are working with a team to produce Stage 2a design plans for submission to planning and then will be raising funds and exploring options to work with constructors. Time Commitment
Board meetings: once a quarter for two hours
Strategy session (4 hours): once or twice a year

The main activity at Swansea Community Workshops (SCW) is to provide facilities for hobbies, recreation, and leisure time occupation in a socially interactive and practical environment, where there are skills sharing, learning of new skills, and helping community-based projects. Role Overview

Title: Vice-Chair (Voluntary) Reports to: Board of Trustees.

Hours: 6-10 hours per month as minimum. Attendance to monthly sub-committee meetings and bimonthly Board of Trustee meetings is expected.

Role Summary

The Vice-Chair shares responsibility with, and in the absence of, the Chair for board management, support to individual trustees and support to the Centre Manager, facilitating scrutiny of SCW’s strategic direction, values, policies, and operational efficiency. The Vice-Chair also plays an active role in representing the organisation to a range of internal and external stakeholders.
