The Charity team is responsible for raising millions of pounds each year to ensure Christie patients receive the very best care and treatment. This includes everything from access to world first clinical trials and receiving radiotherapy in state-of-the-art treatment centres, to young adults being cared for in a bespoke age-appropriate centre and being able to offer patients anxiety reducing complementary therapy, or even creative sessions in our art room.

The Opportunity
This is a new and significant appointment for SWT UK. We are looking for a Director of Development to develop and lead our UK fundraising strategy – taking ownership of income generation across all streams, donor communications and supporter stewardship, and managing a team of three talented fundraising professionals.
Our individual supporter base is large globally – growing in UK – loyal and deeply engaged: many give through our elephant adoption programme, which connects them directly with named animals in our care. We are now ready to build on this engaged supporter base and develop it into a structured individual giving programme – with mid-level giving pathways, major donor cultivation, systematic stewardship and deeper philanthropic relationships. That is the central challenge and opportunity of this role.
We also have active corporate and trust relationships, a legacy programme in development, and real potential to grow income from European and international funders. The Director of Development will take ownership of all of this – hands on and strategic in equal measure.
What You Will Do
- Develop and implement a new UK fundraising strategy, establishing clear priorities, income targets and programmes that will drive growth through to 2030 and beyond
- Develop and implement a UK individual giving programme – building on our adoption base to create structured giving journeys, mid-level and major donor cultivation, and meaningful stewardship
- Manage the UK fundraising budget, set and monitor income targets across all streams, and report regularly to the Executive Director on performance and ROI
- Take day-to-day ownership of corporate and trust relationships, writing reports, proposals and partner communications
- Build a major donor programme from the ground up, identifying and cultivating high-value individual prospects
- Develop legacy marketing activity, working alongside our existing legacy administrator and Freewill partnership
- Manage and inspire a team of three: Communications and Fundraising Manager, Retail Manager and Supporter Care Officer, and Fundraising Support Officer
- Oversee the donor database (Donorfy), ensuring data quality and insight-driven decision making
- Explore opportunities to grow income from European and international donors
- Contribute to the global income picture, including through improved donor stewardship and deeper supporter engagement
- Support the growth of SWT's profile and visibility in the UK through press opportunities, social media, and other channels.
About You
We are looking for a fundraiser who loves the craft – someone who is energised by building relationships, writing a compelling proposal, developing a giving programme from scratch, and ensuring every supporter feels genuinely valued. This is a hands-on role as much as a leadership one, and the right person will be comfortable doing both.
- Proven track record in fundraising, with demonstrable success securing income from individuals, trusts or corporates – including five-figure gifts and above
- Experience developing individual giving programmes, including mid-level or major donor cultivation
- A hands-on practitioner – comfortable writing proposals, reports and donor communications yourself
- Experience managing a small fundraising team with warmth, clarity and accountability
- Strong relationship management and stewardship skills
- Experience working with a donor CRM and using data to inform fundraising decisions
- Comfortable in a building role – excited by developing programmes that don't yet exist
- Experience managing fundraising budgets and producing income forecasts and performance reports.
- Genuine passion for wildlife conservation – this role is for someone who cares about the cause
- Committed to in-person working – we believe day-to-day presence and collaboration produces better outcomes for our donors and our team, and ask for a minimum of three days per week at our Billingshurst office

Job Specification
The Role:
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Officer manages development operations which underpin our fundraising strategy, including fundraising finance systems, donor research and stewardship, event support, and serving as the team lead for database management. The Development Officer provides direct support to the Director of Development, works across the full Development Department, and serves as a liaison with other departments to ensure exceptional supporter stewardship and cultivation year-round. You will work as part of a close-knit team in a fast-paced environment, requiring flexibility, excellent organisation and time-management, and strong communication skills.
Performance Indicators and Deliverables
· Donations and pledges are processed, documented and acknowledged in a timely and appropriate manner, and donors have an excellent stewardship and events experiences throughout the year
· Research and due diligence on current and prospective donors is carried out thoroughly and accurately across the Development Department
· Ticketing for donors is managed effectively and efficiently from priority booking through to the Festival
· Database records are up-to-date and accurate, and reporting regularly informs fundraising operations and strategy

About the Role
As our Senior Community and Events Officer, you will play a pivotal role in growing and developing Kidney Care UK's community fundraising programme, helping supporters across the UK raise vital funds to support people affected by kidney disease.
You will lead on developing and expanding our community fundraising income through supporter-led fundraising, local groups, community organisations, schools, clubs and community partnerships. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and growth of Kidney Care UK's community fundraising programme, increasing supporter participation, income and engagement.
- Build and manage relationships with individual fundraisers, community groups, schools, clubs, faith groups and local organisations.
- Develop innovative community fundraising campaigns, initiatives and resources to inspire supporters to fundraise in their own communities.
- Identify and secure new community fundraising opportunities, creating a strong pipeline of future income.

About You
We are looking for a passionate, dedicated individual who will bring the following:
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a community fundraising or events role, with a proven ability to deliver successful programmes of work.
- Proven experience in organising events, using creativity and strategy to maximise participation and revenue.
- Excellent project management skills – you can juggle multiple projects and deadlines with ease.
- A creative flair for spotting opportunities, developing ideas and executing them flawlessly.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills – you know how to build lasting relationships.
- A passionate, energetic, and self-motivated approach to delivering excellent supporter experiences.
- Experience of managing budgets and suppliers to ensure smooth event delivery.
- An eye for detail and a knack for problem-solving, keeping events running seamlessly.
Though not essential, the following skills and experience would be advantageous:
- Experience with Beacon or other fundraising databases.

The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Fundraising Manager to grow support for our work in the UK and internationally.
You will lead the implementation of our 2026–2028 fundraising strategy, develop compelling supporter journeys and creating inspiring propositions that connect donors with the difference their generosity makes. Working closely with the CEO, Senior Management Team and Fundraising Committee, you will bring focus, energy and professional fundraising expertise to a charity with a loyal supporter base and significant potential for growth.
Key Details:
Location: UK (Flexible: Remote or Hybrid if preferred). There will be a few in-person meetings/events in our London office or other specific venues each year, with flexibility to work where convenient (office or home) most of the time.
Hours: Part-time, 3 days per week (0.6 FTE). Flexibility over how hours are distributed across the week.
Salary: £37,000 – £43,000 FTE, pro rata (c. £22,200 - £25,800 for 3 days per week), depending on experience

What You will do:
- Lead the delivery of HOPE worldwide UK’s fundraising strategy, with clear plans, priorities, KPIs and income targets.
- Develop a compelling case for support that inspires existing donors, re-engages lapsed supporters and reaches new and younger audiences.
- Design and deliver segmented supporter journeys across individual giving, regular giving, appeals and stewardship activity.

About the Sickle Cell Society (SCS)
The Sickle Cell Society (SCS) is the only national charity in the UK that supports and represents people affected by a sickle cell disorder. We provide information, advice and support to enable people to improve their overall quality of life. Over 19,000 people in the UK have a sickle cell disorder, an inherited condition that predominantly affects people of Black African and Black Caribbean heritage; and to a lesser extent people of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, South Asian and Central/South American heritage.
Job Purpose:
To assist the Fundraising Manager in the delivery of our Fundraising Strategy and on-going development to achieve our fundraising priorities and targets. An exciting and varied role, we are seeking a strong team player, and someone with the confidence and initiative to help develop and grow charitable income. The post holder will be someone with a ‘can-do’ attitude and the enthusiasm to want to learn and get things done. We are a small, friendly and closely knit team of 20 skilled and highly committed staff and over 50 active volunteers.
The post-holder will work closely with the Fundraising Manager, and wider team to provide an engaging supporter journey and timely, efficient donor care to existing and new supporters of the Society. You will be responsible for the membership and donors’ database (Beacon) keeping it up to date and reporting back on results, whilst ensuring data compliance and implementation of data. You will be highly proficient in the use of business IT systems in particular Microsoft Excel to analyse data, and you will also have at least one year’s experience, or equivalent, in producing detailed and insightful reports.
The post-holder will be a confident communicator and collaborator with proven relationship building and creative and innovative fundraising skills. You will also support the development of our fundraising communications, monitoring performance across all channels driving best practice and income growth. You will generate and develop engaging fundraising communications and be responsible for your own copywriting, including thanking our wonderful donors via the most appropriate communication channels.

You'll play a key role in driving the charity's e-commerce strategy, helping maximise income through its Shopify store while also supporting new Regular Giving and Society Lottery initiatives.

Role Purpose
The Senior Individual Giving Officer is a crucial position within EIA’s Fundraising team, which contributes to the delivery of the individual giving strategy through acquiring and stewarding new supporters, leading our face to face fundraising and mass participation event programmes and legacy marketing and stewardship.
You will need to have demonstrable experience of delivering campaigns across individual giving products and channels, excellent written communication and analytical skills, and experience of creating engaging and inspiring online and offline direct marketing communications.
Key areas of responsibility
New Supporter Acquisition: Face to Face fundraising
The Senior Individual Giving Officer will lead our new acquisition channel, face to face fundraising, to recruit new regular givers:
- Responsible for the end-to-end management of acquisition campaigns, from briefing internal and external stakeholders and suppliers, to developing creative and monitoring results and evaluating performance
- Ensure campaigns are delivered on time and on budget and meet the campaign KPIs
- Work with the Individual Giving Manager and Digital Implementation Officer to share content to feed into the bespoke supporter journeys for new supporters to increase engagement
Mass Participation Events
The Senior Individual Giving Officer will lead our growing mass participation events programme. Building on the success of testing during 2026, learning will be applied to further expand the event programme during 2027 and beyond:
- Develop and manage the annual event calendar to ensure there is a broad range of events that are targeted towards EIA supporters
- Responsible for all elements of supporter recruitment and stewardship from developing marketing materials, working with the Social Media and Digital Engagement Manager and the Digital team to recruit new supporters, setting up fundraising pages and stewarding supporters to meet their fundraising targets, through to evaluating performance and applying learnings to future events.
Supporter retention, development, and engagement
The Senior Individual Giving Officer will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging and inspiring supporter development activity and supporter journeys for individuals:
- Lead on creating the content and briefing suppliers for the supporter newsletter mailings which are sent out three times a year.
- Plan, implement and evaluate digital and offline supporter-driven supporter journeys from all individual giving audiences, including appeals, face to face, mass digital, regular giving and the weekly lottery
- Work closely with the Individual Giving Manager, Supporter Services Officer and teams across the organisation (including the Communications and Campaign teams) to develop inspiring and targeted content and communications that increase engagement and lifetime value of supporters
- Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for monitoring and evaluating the success of supporter journeys
- Along with the Supporter Services Officer, be a key point of contact for supporters, ensuring that all supporters have a positive experience
Legacy Marketing and Stewardship
- Develop and deliver legacy marketing campaigns to acquire new legacy pledgers from our existing supporter base
- Take a key role in the engagement with the Remember a Charity consortium, and lead on the promotion of legacies during Remember a Charity Week
- Work with the Individual Giving Manager and the Communications team to ensure legacy messages are included in all relevant communications including appeals, supporter newsletters and Investigator magazine
- Responsible for all elements of legacy stewardship, from establishing engagement segmentation, to developing and delivering a legacy stewardship programme including bespoke communications, as well as on and offline events and webinars to maximise engagement and commitment from legacy pledgers
- Explore opportunities to recruit legacy pledgers from new audiences
Strategy development, budgeting and campaign reporting
- Work with the Head of Fundraising and Individual Giving Manager to develop fundraising strategy and annual plans
- Monitor income and expenditure of campaigns within your areas to ensure they meet budget and contribute to the mid-year reforecast process
- Produce regular campaign reports that monitor performance against KPIs and feed back to the Head of · of Fundraising and wider organisation to share successes with the EIA team
