Job Purpose

The finance team is a core part of our Operations Directorate, and although we’re a small team we have a huge impact on the effectiveness of our organisation. The team provides support and guidance to all staff members on how to process invoices, expenses, and generally manage their budgets effectively. The main purpose of the Finance Officer role is to provide key support to the finance team with our finance processes, supporting staff members across the organisation, helping with any queries on a day-to-day basis, as well as supporting our members and suppliers with queries. The Finance Officer ensures all financial transactions are processed in accordance with BSR’s procedures and processes and in line with data protection regulations. 

You don’t need to have worked in the charity sector previously. Continual professional development is vital for us as a team, and so we’re happy to support you if you’re interested in completing a professional finance qualification.

Main Responsibilities

Purchase Ledger 

• Receive all supplier invoices (including member expenses), checking correct finance codes with relevant nominal, department, project, VAT and fund codes are on all invoices, and that the necessary authorisation is present 
• Scan and file all finance related documents (e.g. bank statements)  
• Set up fortnightly supplier payment runs for review by the Finance Manager 

 Sales Ledger 

• Work with budget holders and project leads to produce sales invoices  
• Liaise with budget holders to ensure correct coding of all invoices (nominal, department, project, VAT, and fund codes) 
• Credit Control – dealing with customer queries and chasing for payments fortnightly 

Other Finance Responsibilities 

• Manage monthly credit card process including posting in Dext and reconciliation in Xero  
• Assist the Finance Manager with preparing for year end and audit fieldwork 
• Reconcile purchase ledger payments with the bank transactions 
• Run new starter finance inductions for budget holders and set up new staff on finance systems 
• Maintain process documents for all finance systems 
• Suggest and support relevant finance system and process improvements where identified 
• Be the first point of contact for finance systems and internal system integrations 

Payroll 

• Ensure new starters are processed by HR 
• Process leavers  
• Exported payroll reports and ensuring that they are filed in the correct place 
• Run the monthly payroll with Finance Manager 
• Submission of EPS and FPS to HMRC 
• Pensions administration

Committee Management 

• Minute-taking for Finance & Risk Committee meetings 
• Administrative support relating to committee management

This project aims to address the impacts of distant water fleets in West Africa and empower communities and governments to secure sustainable, inclusive, and transparent fisheries management that supports food security, nutrition, and livelihoods in the region.

In this position, you will support the smooth implementation of project activities by maintaining compliance with internal policies and donor requirements, coordinating routine financial processes, monitoring expenditure and budgets, overseeing partner financial reporting, and helping to ensure that project plans, documentation and reporting are delivered to high standards.

Working closely with the Technical Specialist, Fisheries, you will support project cycle management, contribute to monitoring and evaluation, provide fisheries-related technical input where needed, and help translate project findings into clear and accessible reports, communications and knowledge products. You will also collaborate with project staff, partners and funders to ensure strong working relationships and effective delivery of agreed activities, including supporting sub-grant agreements and compliance with donor regulations.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

The Lead Coach is primarily responsible for overseeing the training room and group sessions with young people. You will help shape the training environment and will confidently adapt and deliver materials and sessions to work within the group’s development towards work readiness.

Delivery of Spear Programme - Group and 1:1 coaching [60%]

• Preparing and coaching Spear Foundation sessions and 1-1s, ensuring that young people are engaged, retained and work-ready by the end of this initial phase of the programme.
• Building relationships with young people on the programme and managing culture and attitudes in the training room.
• Adapting the Spear coaching material according to the needs of the Trainees and managing behaviour effectively.

Delivery of Spear Career [20%]

• Delivering weekly Spear Career sessions (including running workshops with past Trainees), maintaining records and reporting on statistics, and creatively developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees.

Training the Assistant Coach [10%]

• Contributing towards the training and developing of the Assistant Coach by modelling excellent coaching and giving regular feedback.

Trainee recruitment [10%]

Key responsibilities will include: 

1. To deliver group workshops, including games, discussions, as well as offering emotional and informative support for children aged 10-11.

2. To represent Knights Youth Centre with teachers, parents, partners, funders, and key agencies as necessary.

3. To develop strong, professional relationships with young people.

4. To build and maintain relationships with local schools, including school staff, teachers and occasionally parents.

5. To assist the Oasis KYC team in recording and measuring the impact services have on the young people. (Most significant change stories, Outcomes Star model or similar)

6. To support the team in ensuring services delivered are relevant and accessible.

7. To undertake any other tasks relevant to the post contained within the Centre’s Service plan or individual work plan.

8. To be sympathetic to the aims of Knights Youth Centre and to work within the professional boundaries and policies at Knights Youth Centre.

The successful post holder must have:

· Proven experience of working with young people in a youth club or school setting.

· Experience of running engaging workshops for young people, that promote life skills and positive wellbeing.

· Experience of working with SEN and at-risk young people

· An understanding of the challenges impacting families and young people in Lambeth

· Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships.

· Knowledge of safeguarding practices and experience working with young people in challenging environments.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Excellent time keeping.

The Green House is the only specialist service across BNSSG and BANES supporting children, young people, and families who have experienced sexual abuse.

Our distinct approach is: 1. Evidence-based, guided by research and best practices. 2. Led by the voices of young people and their families. 3. Centred on community and connection. 4. Focused on the transformational power of the creative arts. In 2022, we transitioned from a single therapy option to a whole family, community-based model which provides a more accessible and comprehensive approach to support, whilst reducing wait times by 63%. Though we deliver a local service, our work is influencing the national response to child sexual abuse. We provide national training on pre-trial therapy and survivor-led leadership programmes.

Purpose of the Role

The Children and Young People’s (CYP) Therapist sits within The Green House Therapy Service under the direction of the Clinical Manager. The CYP therapist will be a part of a wider team of family support practitioners, VOICE practitioners, Specialist Practitioner/s and Pathway Administrators. The postholder will also need to be able to work at outreach sites across BNSGG and BANES which upholds TGHs mission to be more accessible to families. The practitioner must be self-governing as lone working is always a possibility.

About the Service

The Ascent Pan London Floating Support Service (PLFSS) provides high-quality domestic abuse support, ‘by-and-for’ services and counselling. This partnership, which is run by 11 specialist DA organisations (including Solace), delivers trauma-informed, wrap-around, client-led support for those in safe accommodation, across London.

As a partner organisation, Solace is established in the communities/boroughs that we cover and have links and referral pathways. In working together, we can help survivors of domestic abuse, for whom refuge accommodation is not suitable, to create a life for themselves, free from fear and abuse.

About the Role

As a Housing Floating Support Worker, you will help women with practical tenancy sustainment, as well as ongoing support to cope, recover and move towards independence. You will achieve this through:

· Specialist support and safety planning, to reduce risks and harm for survivors and their children

· Ongoing casework support, including referrals to specialist advice and practical support, such as legal advice around civil and criminal remedies

· Empowering survivors with information on their rights and options, demystifying complex statutory systems and dispelling myths perpetuated by perpetrators and wider society

· Support to maintain accommodation, or to source permanent accommodation as necessary

· Financial empowerment work to maximise income, including support with debt

· Referral to therapeutic support from Woman’s Trust

· Support to link with local resources such as ESOL classes, volunteering and training to develop financial independence, and opportunities to gain social support, such as mother-and-baby groups, or formal DA programmes (delivered by partners)

About You

The ideal candidate will have experience of managing risk and following case management procedures to meet the needs of the client group, and the ability to work with women to help them tounderstand their needs, risk assess, develop safety plan and support them in linking with other agencies. 

You will have a working knowledge of housing and welfare benefits and will have excellent administrative and time management skills.

Working Hours:  5 days a week, 9am-5pm (flexible)

Key tasks include

· Recruit schools to take part in Nourish in the regions

To act as a first point of contact for people experiencing mental health and wellbeing problems responding to phone, online, email and/or face to face contacts alongside the reception and administration team providing regular support and cover when needed such as annual leave and sickness.
