Income generation and fundraising at Solace is ambitious, dynamic and rewarding. This role is situated within the Business Development team driving forward our trusts and foundations grant applications and our unrestricted funding portfolio. We work alongside our award-winning Communications, Partnerships & Public Affairs team.

About the Role

We are seeking a forward thinking, creative and motivated individual who can envision and manage commissioned tenders, grant funding, individual giving, corporate partnerships and our training and consultancy functions.

You will be a highly skilled and successful fundraiser and business development professional.

The role will manage the statutory and non-statutory income generation team including tenders, grants and fundraising staff to achieve a net target of approximately £2m per annum. This team plays a pivotal role in the financial wellbeing of the charity enabling us to support the thousands of women and children who come to us each year as a result of violence against women and girls (VAWG).

The Role 

The External Affairs Manager at The Alan Turing Institute plays a key strategic role in building and managing influential relationships across government, academia, industry, and policy sectors to support the Institute’s mission in data science and AI. Reporting to the Head of the Executive Office, the postholder will act as a key liaison on behalf of senior leaders, fostering collaborations, spotting opportunities, and representing the Institute with credibility at the highest levels.

Your Profile 

You will be a confident and strategic relationship-builder with substantial experience navigating complex stakeholder landscapes within the UK’s research, tech, or policy sectors. With exceptional communication, influencing skills and political acumen, you will possess the ability to manage high-level external relationships across government, academia and industry. Highly organised and proactive, you will be able to juggle multiple priorities while providing credible support to senior leaders. A strong understanding of the data science and AI ecosystem is key, as is the ability to translate complex insights into clear messages, drive collaborative opportunities and represent the Institute with professionalism and purpose.

Main Duties

• Build and manage high-level relationships across government, academia, industry, and more as the Institute’s first point of contact.
• Communicate with diplomacy, clarity, and discretion in all stakeholder interactions.
• Lead a refreshed engagement strategy for universities, starting with the Turing University Network.
• Develop and deliver a stakeholder strategy to identify new collaboration opportunities across the AI and tech landscape.
• Conduct horizon scanning, sharing insights and trends to inform Institute strategy.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support shared stakeholder engagement goals.
• Coordinate stakeholder tracking across teams and create mechanisms to streamline interactions.
• Partner with Communications and other teams to creatively promote the Institute’s outputs and opportunities.

This new role will bring strategic direction and thought leadership to our work ensuring that people experiencing socio-economic disadvantage can access high-quality hospice care, when they need it.

We are looking for someone with sound, technical knowledge of the relationship between socio-economic deprivation and health outcomes. Someone with experience working on projects that use evidence and research-based approaches to address health inequity at scale. You will have the skills and expertise to help us work at a system-level to transform practice in hospice care, as well as increase reach. 

You’ll be supported by teams across our organisation to ensure Hospice UK collects the data and evidence required to inform our policy work in this area, and help transform hospice practice. 

Perhaps you’re working in palliative care already - or you might bring strong health equity expertise from another speciality. 

Either way, you’ll become part of a close, 17-strong Programmes Team at Hospice UK. We work together and alongside external experts, to design and deliver evidence-based programmes, projects and events, which help hospices provide the very best care in their communities.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced senior finance professional who combines technical expertise with strong leadership skills.

· A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent).

· Proven significant experience in senior finance leadership, including management accounts, budgeting, and statutory reporting.

· Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and charity finance (including restricted and endowment funds). 

· Demonstrable strong knowledge of financial controls, accounting standards, and (ideally) charity finance.

· Proven experience managing or implementing finance systems or digital transformation projects.

· Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust across all levels.

· A collaborative, proactive, and improvement-focused approach.

Desirable:

· Experience within the not-for-profit or charity sector.

· Knowledge of property and investment accounting.

· Familiarity with cloud-based finance systems.

About the team

The Programme Support & Knowledge (PSK) team is a critical and dynamic unit within WaterAid UK’s International Programmes Department (IPD), working across 17 countries in Africa and Asia. PSK is a diverse and motivated group of over 20 technical specialists and advisors committed to bringing sustainable WASH to the world’s poorest and most marginalised people.

About the role

As our Programme Support and Knowledge Director, you will play a key role in delivering our mission by providing strategic leadership to the PSK team and the wider IPD, as part of the department’s SMT. You will also input into organisation-wide initiatives, external collaborations and global networks to drive sustainable change.

Key responsibilities

Magic Breakfast’s mission is to end child morning hunger in the UK now and for good. The latest research suggests that 2.7 million children are at risk of hunger, meaning one in five children don’t have enough to eat. When a child is too hungry to learn, they struggle to concentrate, absorb information, and manage their emotions, causing them to fall behind in their studies.

Magic Breakfast provides a nutritious breakfast to over 300,000 children and young people every school day. We work with schools in areas of high disadvantage, helping staff target children most in need without barrier or stigma.

We are now at an exciting point in our journey as we launch Nourishing Futures, our long-term strategy, which will scale our impact and redefine breakfast spaces not only as places to eat, but as places to thrive.

To support the delivery of this strategy, we are evolving our Business Development function with the creation of a new role – Head of Business Development. This role will enable continue growth and investment from public funding sources, whilst ensuring that we are able and positioned to capitalise on the growing number of commercial opportunities. Key responsibilities:

• Lead the Business Development function as an innovation hub, proactively horizonscanningfor opportunities across public funding, commercial activity, and philanthropicgiving. About you

With excellent communication and administration skills, gained working in a customer service environment, including handling complaints, you will have experience of reviewing, updating and relaying information from various databases. Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, email and the internet and a strong attention to detail and accuracy are also required. An understanding of how the Helpdesk service impacts on the Shelter brand will also be important as well as having resilience dealing with enquiries that may be difficult in nature.

Qualifications, skills, and experience  

Essential 

• Proven experience in managing social channels including publishing content and engaging with audiences.
