This is an exciting opportunity to train as a CWP whilst employed by Ormiston Families as part of the YOUnited partnership, working across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

The successful candidates will undertake training with the University College London (UCL) at the Anna Freud Centre, alongside working in service for Ormiston Families. You will be trained in the delivery of evidence-based ‘guided self-help’ interventions for children and young people (CYP) experiencing mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties.

YOUnited provides a single point of access for all referrals for CYP in need of support with their mental health and emotional wellbeing across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. It is a partnership of Ormiston Families, Centre 33, and Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Foundation Trust.  Ormiston Families work with CYP aged 5-13.

You will join a supportive team of CWPs and counsellors and will receive regular supervision to support your professional development. You will also be using your newly developed skills to support children and young people who are referred to YOUnited

Experience of working with CYP who have experienced mental health or emotional wellbeing difficulties is essential. The post requires a minimum of a second-class bachelor’s degree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of equivalent standard in a relevant subject (e.g., psychology), or relevant professional experience in CYP Mental Health/Education/Mentorship.

Training commences in January 2027 - Permanent position subject to vacancies at the point of qualification in 2028.

This is a home-based position, but you will be required to travel across Cambridgeshire & Peterborough. You will also need to be able to travel to London to undertake training an average of one day per week during term time, more frequently at the start of the training.

We’re currently recruiting for one full-timeTrainee Children Wellbeing Practitioners (CWP)to work directly with young people within our mental health services. For this post you need to have a Undergraduate degree, second class or above, in a mental health of child development related subject OR any subject with further training or experience in a relevant field. We are also looking for someone with an open and flexible attitude; excellent engagement skills and a passion for working with children and young people around mental health. 

Responsibilities include offering a CBT based self-guided mental health interventions to young people and their families including individual, parent-led and group-based support; workshops; crisis support; mental health themed activities. 

This post is based on-site and may require flexibility to work across different service areas and interventions. Some evening and/or weekend work may be necessary to meet the needs of young people. 

This is a training position where the post holder will undertake training at Kings College London alongside working in service for Off The Record. Applicants will need to be ready to start work in early January 2027 and posts cannot be offered to candidates unless they can guarantee this start date.

The post holder will develop and deliver evidence-based, low-intensity interventions and guided self-help for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties such as anxiety and low mood, working in partnership with children, young people, their families, schools and community settings. The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to deliver high-quality, evidence-based clinical practice and to operate within an inclusive, values-driven service. The post holder will work within CDI's Community Counselling Service, which is focussed on outreach to the community, while undertaking the Postgraduate Diploma in CYP-PT Therapies (Systemic Family Practice) at King's College London (KCL). Under supervision, the post holder will deliver high-quality, brief, outcome-focused, evidence-based systemic family interventions to children, young people and their families experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties within the community. The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to practise systemic family interventions effectively and to operate within an inclusive, values-driven service. The post holder will attend all KCL-based teaching and Onsite Protected Learning Time required by the education provider, as specified within the agreed national curriculum and apply their developing systemic practice skills in the service for the remaining days of the week, including carrying a clinical caseload.

West London Mind is looking for an experienced and compassionate Lead MHST Supervisor to join our long-standing Mental Health Support Team (MHST).

You will provide senior clinical supervision and line management to a team of Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs), Child Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs), Schools Mental Health Practitioners (SMHPs) and trainee/newly qualified supervisors. You will facilitate group supervision of supervisors as well as the wider MHST team.

Working closely with schools across Hammersmith & Fulham, you will help ensure our service is safe, effective and responsive to the needs of children and young people. Alongside your leadership and supervision responsibilities, you will maintain a small caseload and deliver evidence-based CBT interventions, including group and 1:1 work.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in developing our MHST, supporting practitioners to deliver high-quality interventions and helping us reach children and young people who may face additional barriers to accessing mental health support.

What you’ll be doing

You will:

• Work directly with the Clinical Lead to provide clinical supervision, case management and line management to practitioners and supervisors.
• Act as the senior supervisor within the MHST, overseeing a group of supervisors, working closely with the Clinical Lead and Head of Mental Health Support and Inclusion.
• Support high-quality, evidence-based delivery of CBT interventions within schools.
• Monitor clinical quality, safeguarding, risk and outcomes across the team.
• Hold a small caseload, including more complex cases, deliver 1:1 and group interventions and oversee the delivery of team projects.
• Support the development of workshops, resources and interventions for children, young people, families and school staff.
• Work collaboratively with schools and colleagues to develop and expand the service.
• Take part in the Duty Manager rota and support staff to manage clinical risk effectively.
• Contribute to training, reflective practice and continuous professional development.

About you

We’re looking for an experienced children and young people’s mental health professional who is passionate about developing others and improving outcomes for young people.

You will have:

• A relevant professional qualification and registration, such as EMHP, CWP, SWP
• A PG Certificate in Supervision for Children and Young People’s Mental Health, or equivalent supervisory qualification.
• At least 3 years’ experience working in children and young people’s mental health.
• At least 2 years’ experience supervising and case-managing practitioners, including line management experience.
• At least two years’ experience of delivering evidence-based CBT interventions to children and young people, in line with CYP psychological training supervision.
• Knowledge and experience of the MHST model and CBT manualised approach.
• Experience of managing clinical risk and safeguarding within a child and young people’s setting.
• Excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
• A commitment to equality, diversity and delivering culturally appropriate support.

You must be registered with the relevant UK professional body, such as BPS, BABCP, HCPC, UKCP, NMC or BACP, as appropriate to your profession.

The post holder will develop and deliver adapted, evidence-based assessment and interventions for autistic children and young people and children and young people with a learning disability who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, working in partnership with children, young people, their families, schools and educational settings. The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to deliver high-quality, adapted clinical practice and to operate within an inclusive, values-driven service.
