Our Mission

The Marketing team at The Brain Tumour Charity want to capture more high quality photos of our fundraisers and supporters. Not only do our photos capture the brain tumour community and their amazing efforts to help find cures but they also help create more awareness and engagement of our cause.

How can you help?

As a Volunteer Photographer, you will be present at big fundraising events or carrying out photoshoots with our supporters. This role requires that you are quick to capture those blink-and-you-miss-it moments! Other requirements include:

• Potentially walking a large amount of steps at some events if you are able (The Twilight Walk in London, for example)
• Being prepared for different weather conditions
• Taking portraits and group shots of fundraisers when asked by them
• Sending photos (unedited or edited) via wetransfer or another sharing platform soon after the event has ended

What impact will you have?

Your photos will capture the atmosphere and excitement of big events as well as the emotions that come with fundraisers. Capturing and displaying our community is a key concern for The Charity and your photos make an impact in reaching our goals. Your photos could also be featured on our website, social media and external news outlets with full credit given.

We’re looking for...

Individuals with technical experience in photography, whether that is buddying hobbyists or professionals looking to volunteer their time. You will also need:

• To have your own photography equipment
• An ability to direct people to get the right shot
• An ability to work autonomously

Time commitment

Practical considerations

You will receive a full induction to The Brain Tumour Charity and any specific training for the role, as well as ongoing direction from one of the team, who will be your key contact. We carry out reference checks for all individuals who will be volunteering with us on a regular basis. Volunteers will be required to complete some internal data protection and disclosure documentation before commencing the role. Role Overview

As a Charity Liaison Officer volunteer, you'll be at the heart of our mission to bridge the gap between donors and those in need. InterVol is a student volunteering charity in the United Kingdom that connects students with volunteering opportunities locally and overseas. InterVol supports students to develop their skills with community projects in the UK and then use those skills to support the work of charitable partners overseas on health, education, refugee support, and conservation placements. Our project placements and volunteering opportunities are designed by our local partners and with the long-term needs of beneficiaries and communities in mind. InterVol supports a network of five student societies at English universities with around one hundred volunteers annually.

InterVol is looking for new trustees to join our board. Trustees are responsible for ensuring that InterVol follows our guiding principles and acts within the law. This includes the timely submissions to the Charity Commission, ensuring that volunteering is safe and appropriate, and developing and maintaining a long-term strategy for InterVol. InterVol is a small charity with no staff, so trustees also play an important role in maintaining institutional memory for student committees which change annually. 

We are recruiting for general trustee roles and for a treasurer. For the treasurer role, we are looking for applicants with a specialism in financial management to oversee our bank account, monitor our online donation platform, make grants, donations and payments, and report on our finances annually to the Charity Commission. As a trustee you are expected to take on roles including:

Upon successful application, our HR team will contact you to arrange an interview. Following a successful interview, we'll initiate the onboarding process by sending you the necessary documents. Once your onboarding and identification documents are received and verified, you'll be invited to a 6-hour HR and System Induction. Subsequently, you'll meet with your Head of Department or Assistant Manager for your First Day.

Join our amazing volunteer team to raise awareness of the issues affecting blind and partially sighted people in relation to sport. You will give talks in person or virtually, sharing your own story to improve understanding of sight loss to sports clubs, sporting venues and facilities and community groups. You’ll be making a real difference to people living with sight loss by helping to improve accessibility and inclusivity, creating a sporting world without barriers.

What you’ll be doing
1. Talks to sports and physical activity providers to support and encourage them to consider the needs of blind and partially sighted people by sharing your story to audiences, for example, local leisure centres, sporting venues and sports clubs.
2. Delivering talks to raise awareness of existing sporting and physical activity opportunities for blind and partially sighted people.
3. Representing RNIB as an Ambassador for the Community Connection service.

What skills and experience are needed?

Ikoku Protection and Justice

Ikoku Protection and Justice empowers and supports juvenile offenders in Uganda through legal aid, psychosocial support, advocacy and engaging stakeholders through capacity building trainings to create a child-friendly justice system.

In 2023, 10,741 child-related offenses were reported to the police, with 70% of cases still pending in court. Unfortunately the trend continued in 2024 with 9,408 child-related offenses being reported to police, 57% of these cases are still pending and this excludes the 4,363 cases that are still under inquiry till to date. Uganda’s remand homes, which are designed to hold 40-45 juveniles, currently house over 100 inmates (excluding street children) with as few as 14 staff members managing them. These figures highlight a significant gap in the juvenile justice system, where children are often left without legal representation, face long delays in their cases, and are wrongfully classified as adults due to lack of proper age documentation.

We tackle the gaps in Uganda’s juvenile justice system through early legal education, legal representation, psychosocial support, advocacy, and stakeholder training. We teach children their rights using interactive games, provide free legal aid for capital and non-capital offenses, offer psychosocial workshops to address trauma and prevent reoffending, and share real stories through podcasts and documentaries to push for policy change.

Our residential capacity-building program trains key stakeholders to create a more child-friendly justice system. Through these interventions, we aim to reduce wrongful detentions, ease overcrowding in remand homes, promote faster trials, and give children in conflict with the law a real chance at a fresh start.

Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)

We’re looking for a passionate WordPress web designer to help us create a beautiful, easy-to-use website where our stories, podcasts, and programs come to life, making it simple for people to learn, volunteer, and support our mission.

Marmalade Connections is a time-limited, one-to-one project covering most of the South West. Based on the enabling/empowering social prescribing model, trained volunteers make weekly calls to project members for up to 15 weeks, focusing on their specific needs and interests.  The project supports those in our community who are the most socially isolated, and who experience chronic loneliness (feeling lonely all or most of the time). 

Marmalade Connections is not a 'befriending call project'.​ These conversations lead to volunteers signposting the project members to local social activities and community support, to improve their social connections long term. 

As a Marmalade Companion Volunteer, you will support one or occasionally two of our project members (the people we support) for a period of up to 16 weeks. The role involves phoning a matched member once a week for a friendly call lasting about 30 minutes plus researching potential social connection and activity opportunities. You will receive training on how to build up a trusted telephone relationship with your project member(s) to enable you to support and signpost them to relevant services and activities. The aim of this project is to help reduce social isolation and loneliness and to support your project member(s) to discover lasting connections in their community.
