What will I be doing?
Our amazing Activity Volunteers play a key role in supporting blind children and young people to take part in a variety of activities. These range from sports, creative (singing, performing, art), audiobook club and day trips. Our activities are designed for blind young people to meet new friends, gain confidence, learn new skills/sports, and become more independent. The skills you have developed in your career and personal life will be invaluable to our young people.

Mind in Kingston is a local charity that supports people with mental health issues, and campaigns to raise awareness about mental health in Kingston and surrounding areas. We are affiliated to National Mind but operate independently in the Borough of Kingston upon Thames and surrounding areas.
The Information, Advice, Signposting & Referral Service is designed to provide enquirers with empathic advice, information and/or signposting.
Volunteers are extremely valued within our team and a vital part of our service delivery. We encourage and welcome people with lived experience of mental health issues to apply to volunteer with us; this could be personal experience relating to yourself, a family member or a friend; or in a professional capacity working with people with mental health issues.

Main purpose of the role:

At the Rainbow Club supplementary school we aim to help children between the ages of 4 and 11 to improve their literacy, numeracy and social skills in a friendly and supportive environment. We need your skills and enthusiasm to assist the teacher in the delivery of a literacy and numeracy class and work with other volunteers to develop a programme of recreational activities. The Rainbow Club runs on Saturday mornings during term-time.
Your duties will include:
- Arriving punctually for the 9am briefing by the Rainbow Club Headteacher;
- Working in a team with other volunteers and teachers to deliver literacy, numeracy, arts, sport activities – this includes ensuring children remain engaged throughout the lesson and carry out set tasks as instructed by the teacher;
- Working one-to-one with specific children if and when required;
- Filing classroom work and homework in children’s individual files and keeping all materials and resources tidy and properly stored;
- Liaising with parents as and when required for example distributing leaflets and news about future meetings and events and also assisting with parents' day;
- Following the teacher’s policies on discipline and classroom management;
- Supervising the children during break times;
- Supporting the children during class trips;

Nature Buddies inspire and support local people at risk of isolation, to reconnect with the outdoor and local green spaces. Mentoring within One YMCA is delivered through the youth team and volunteers. Young people aged 13-19 years can access the service which provides support and encouragement for young people to work towards their goals.
Mentors and mentees are paired based on experience, expertise and support needed.
This project will last for up to a year with each young person, with an average of 3-4 hours per month being given to the young person and their support.
Training for this role is due to commence on 22nd January 2025 (Time and Location TBC)
Pay: This is a voluntary role; however, expenses will be covered.
Key Responsibilities:
·To attend full induction training and complete all relevant child protection checks
·To arrange to meet with your mentee for 1-3 hours a month over a period of 12 months, in a public place.

Overall purpose
To support children (the child/ren who have complex medical needs and/or their siblings) in 1:1 sessions through the integration of counselling and play skills
Role responsibilities
Children, who have been assessed by an experienced therapist from the project and with parental consent, will be referred to the Child Therapist who will:
- Make contact with the client’s parent/guardian organising an initial 1:1 meeting with them to talk through the issues their child faces and establish the time, location and frequency of sessions
- Provide support through an integration of counselling and play skills
- Attend monthly group supervision (2 hours)
- Undertake The Maypole Project initial training (20 hours)
- Work to The Maypole Project model of support for children and young people
- Attend a training update session at least once per annum
- Complete client notes and The Maypole Project paperwork as required
- Liaise with their supervisor or the Clinical Supervisor in case of questions/difficulties
- Follow The Maypole Project policies and guidelines at all times whilst volunteering
- Attend service-wide activities including family activity events and fundraising events
For students: Please check whether your course placement requirements would enable you to provide counselling at external venues (clients home, hospitals, hospices etc). This would occur only after a settling in period and with additional training and support provided by The Maypole Project.

Time Commitment

More than 130,000 people live with multiple sclerosis (MS) in the UK. Every one of them shares the uncertainty of life with MS. People are most likely to find out they have MS in their thirties, forties and fifties; news that can be worrying and heart breaking. MS can get steadily worse, or symptoms can come and go unpredictably throughout someone’s life.
Could you spare three hours a week to provide emotional support and information to those affected by MS? If so, the MS Helpline team would like to hear from you.
We’re the UK charity for people with MS. We’re fighting for better treatment and care to help people with MS take control of their lives, and we’re funding research that we believe will stop MS for good. Time and Commitment
The MS Helpline is open from Monday to Friday 9am to 7pm. All of our MS Helpline volunteers carry out their volunteering from home and give emotional support and information to people affected by MS by telephone.
We are looking for volunteers that can commit to a 3 hour telephone shift a week.
You will be attending comprehensive helpline volunteer training programme throughout May/June 2025. All training sessions will be remote via Teams during weekdays between 10am-4pm. There will be pre-reading and exercise tasks to complete in between training sessions.
About you
We do not ask for previous experience although we are looking for people with good listening skills and a clear, warm telephone voice. You should have good IT skills as the role will require use of Microsoft Office such as Outlook and Teams, internal databases and call handling system.
We also ask that you have access to a confidential and comfortable working space, computer and broadband suitable for MS Helpline Volunteer role. If you are shortlisted for the role interview, we will ask you about your home and equipment set up, as unfortunately not everyone may have the appropriate set up and equipment for MS Helpline Volunteer role.

Perinatal Support Volunteers provide one-to-one support to parents during pregnancy and up to nine months after the birth. These parents either have mental health issues or are at risk of developing them.
Perinatal Support Volunteers visit these families once a week (usually weekdays during working hours) for 2-3 hours, providing emotional support and practical help in the family’s home or local community. Support is aimed at empowering parents and building resilience beyond the support period.
The type of support Perinatal Support Volunteers provide to parents may include:
- An empathetic and non-judgemental listening ear
- Support to prepare for parenthood
- Support to build confidence in parenting skills
- Support to develop a positive relationship with their infant
- Support to establish daily and weekly routines
- Support to take time for self-care
- Support to manage the things that are causing stress
- Support to access relevant services
- Support to access local green spaces
- Support to make connections with other parents
No special qualifications are necessary to become a Perinatal Support Volunteer, but Home-Start volunteers are usually either parents or grandparents themselves, or people with experience of young children and family life. We particularly welcome volunteers with lived experience of perinatal mental health challenges.

Based in the Reception of the Main Gallery, you will be the first point of contact for visitors to the Gallery, giving a warm welcome, assisting with enquiries and ensuring a high-quality visitor experience. You will also support the day to day running of the Gallery, dealing with administrative duties and supporting the Gallery Shop, sharing product information with visitors and taking sales.
Tasks and Responsibilities

Being a visible presence in the Gallery space, ensuring everyone’s safety and the security of artwork and our retail space

Guiding visitors around the gallery and wider site

Assisting with sales and shop displays, including cash handling

Maintaining a neat and tidy reception and retail area

Supporting our retail work, with stocktaking, pricing and other tasks

Monitoring visitor numbers and contributing to evaluation initiatives

Representing the Gallery and Richmond Arts Service

Training and Support
We will provide training and an induction which covers all aspects of the role. On-going support and supervision will be provided by staff throughout your time with us. Additionally, there are regular training sessions to supplement and further your initial training, as well as a varied programme of volunteer events and activities to join in, meet people and learn something new!

Availability
The gallery is open to the public Tuesday to Sunday, 10am – 5pm, with two volunteer shifts a day, 10am – 1pm and 1pm – 5pm.
We ask for a minimum commitment of one shift every fortnight, although there is flexibility over scheduling.
Location
This role is based at Orleans House Gallery in the Main Gallery building.
Expenses
We will cover travel expenses up to £14 per day.

They are seeking a new Treasurer, with suitable accounting and finance experience as well as energy and enthusiasm, to provide board level insight and scrutiny of financial plans, processes and decision making.
The post holder will inspect and authorise fortnightly payments, review and approve the organisations financial statements, and oversee financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress. Previous governance experience is not required, and a full induction and training will be provided.
The board meets 4-6 times a year, usually remotely in the evening, with one annual in-person away day in North Wales. The total estimated time commitment required for the role is approximately 5 hours per month.
