About Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust:

Since 1988, Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust (PKHT) has worked collaboratively to preserve, enhance, and increase understanding of the historic environment of the area, through a wide remit encompassing historic building conservation and archaeology. 

PKHT achieved their objectives through the delivery of projects, the provision of grants, information, and advice, and through a programme of outreach and training activities. The Organisations current key projects include the transformative work of the Perth City Heritage Fund, and an exciting new programme of community archaeology which will aim to engage communities across all of Perth and Kinross. Their aims are to maintain and enhance sense of place; provide a learning resource for local communities; and to build sustainable economic development through improvements and events for both local residents and visitors. 

Perth and Kinross has a rich physical heritage of archaeological sites and historic buildings and PKHT is committed to delivering projects and activities that increase awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the historic environment for everyone. Supported by a range of funders, the outreach and learning activities are often delivered through funded projects such as the King’s Seat Hillfort Archaeology Project, while They also co-ordinate the Doors Open Days programme for the area.

Trustee Details:

Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust is currently seeking new trustees for their board and, to sustain their invaluable work, are inviting new board members, who have the right skills, experience, and time to take on the role effectively and impactfully, as well as sharing an affinity with their aspirations to safeguard local heritage and promote it to a wider audience.

The trust are keen to hear from people who have skills in buildings conservation, marketing and social media, legal and finance, IT and General Fundraising but would welcome expressions of interest from others who share a passion for what the area has to offer - and what is still to be uncovered. People who live further afield from the area are also encouraged to apply, especially if they bring similar experiences from further afield. The Trust is also keen to diversify its board and welcomes applications from younger candidates from a range of backgrounds.

In addition, candidates who are willing to progress to take on the Chair role are encouraged to apply. The current Chair has decided that following several years’ service it is now time to step back from this role. The PKHT board are keen to hear from any candidate who feels they have the skills and experience, and time available for the Chair role. To discover more about this role and the Trust’s expectations, an informal exploratory chat with the incumbent is encouraged and BTA would be happy to help make arrangements for this.

Volunteering in the shop

Our Ballycastle Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hide Cleaner Volunteer

About The Role

At the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust we are involved in creating and conserving wetlands and the species who live in them.  At Washington Wetland Centre we develop and maintain visitor areas which provide enjoyable areas which enhance the visitor experience. 

What you will be doing:

• Cleaning and tidying of hides to include litter picking, sweeping out, window cleaning and shelf cleaning
• Maintaining approaches to hides

Volunteering as Hide Cleaner at WWT Washington is a great opportunity to get to see some of our best wildlife from the hides while you work, interact with a range people, including staff and visitors, and make a valuable difference to the upkeep and presentation of our reserve.

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You’ll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

About You

This role would suit you if:

• You are able to work both independently and as part of a team
• You are physically fit and do not mind working outdoors in all weathers
• You are able to communicate effectively, including the ability to interact with visitors you may meet whilst undertaking your role in order to engage them with the work of WWT

Urban Youth is not waiting for young people to come to us; we are meeting them where they are. We are tearing down barriers to engagement by deploying innovative, flexible youth work:

• Event Champions - Be the friendly face of SSAFA! Help at events, chat with visitors, sell merchandise, and spread the word about our work.

• Community Connectors - Collaborating with the Community Engagement Manager to establish a local network, promote SSAFA's services, and respond to community opportunities such as gardening projects.
• Fundraising Heroes - Whether it’s rallying local businesses, organising events, or getting creative with unique fundraising ideas, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping SSAFA’s support going strong.
• Administrators - Are you detail-oriented and love keeping things organised? Assist with branch and event administration, manage schedules and branch calendars, and ensure everything runs smoothly currently being undertaken.

The skills you need

• Be friendly and approachable.
• Confident to engage with the public, potential clients, volunteers and SSAFA colleagues face-to-face.
• Reliable attitude, staying connected with your Branch and/or Community Engagement Manager about your availability.
• Access to public transport or a car to get to events if necessary.
• Basic IT skills would be an advantage.

We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Volunteering in the shop

Our Penrith Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

LIVN Global is a faith-based charity dedicated to bringing hope and transformation to remote communities across the world by providing access to clean water, education, and sustainable development projects.

The volunteer Public Engagement Lead will help identify and develop opportunities that raise the charity’s visibility, strengthen relationships, and open doors to collaborations.

Responsibilities

• Research and identify relevant events, conferences, and networking opportunities .
• Source potential partnership opportunities with businesses, community groups, and other charities.
• Oversee social media management on all channels to promote visibility and engagement.
• Assist with fundraising activities, including planning events and engaging with stakeholders.

Release Counselling and Therapy for Women (Release) is a small charity in Sussex with a big impact and have been supporting the mental health of thousands of women, since 2013. We specialise in supporting the mental health of women at key moments in their lives from parenting to peri/menopause.

Founded in 2013, our charity is led by women, for women. Women are at the highest risk of suicide up to a year after giving birth and during perimenopause. And we provide mental health support for women at these key times in their lives.

We offer therapeutic groups for mums and birthing parents and women in midlife, along with wellbeing days and a women’s one-to-one online counselling service.

As a small evolving charity, we work closely as a team and there are opportunities to help shape our future.

To help our mission, we are looking to appoint a Trustee with experience in clinical work such as counselling or social work to oversee the safeguarding of our charity.

Responsibilities 

The Board and CEO meet quarterly for Board meetings and once for an annual strategy day in Brighton.

The safeguarding trustee works closely with the CEO, the designated safeguarding lead, to ensure our organisation’s strategic plans reflect safeguarding legislation, regulations specific to our activities, statutory guidance, and the safeguarding expectations of the Charities Commission.

The role will help champion a safeguarding culture across the organisation, ensuring there are regular reviews, training, and that policies and the risk register are up to date, alongside advising on any safeguarding concerns that arise.

There are also other opportunities to get involved with fundraising events, speaking at conferences, and each Trustee takes on a committee lead role, in their area of expertise, taking an oversight of that area.

Person Specification 

Essential

 · Qualified clinical practitioner such as counsellor, psychologist or social worker accredited by a recognised body such as BACP, UKCP, BABCP, BPS or HCPC

· Current DBS check or willing to have one carried out

· Experience in overseeing and leading safeguarding procedures within an organisation

· Experience working with female clients with a range of issues

· Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship

· Good communication and leadership skills

· A team-oriented approach to problem solving and to management.

Desirable 

· Dedicated to the organisation’s cause and objectives and willing to act as the charity’s ambassador to external bodies, charities and companies.
