Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales.  Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health, safety and social distancing measures to ensure the safety of everyone

MHFA England are seeking a Non-Executive Director with expertise in workplace mental health and wellbeing to assist in agreeing and supporting MHFA England’s strategy, ensuring the delivery of MHFA’s overall purpose and mission as a social enterprise.

The Non-Executive Director will ensure the human and financial resources are available to achieve MHFA England’s objectives by providing expertise and guidance.

There may also be an opportunity for the postholder to sit as part of one of our other governance committees.

Principle duties

1. Promoting the highest standards of corporate governance in compliance with regulatory, constitutional, legal, financial, and other obligations
2. Overseeing the delivery of MHFA England’s strategy and performance
3. Protecting the long-term sustainability of MHFA England
4. Safeguarding the reputation of MHFA England
5. Providing expert insight, understanding, and experience relating to workplace mental health and wellbeing 
6. Leading a Board sub-committee, where required
7. Representing MHFA England at collaboration and network events, and contributing to the development of organisational relationships

• Experience and knowledge of implementing mental health and wellbeing strategies, policies, training, and support in medium to large organisations, and measuring their impact

The Trans Legal Clinic is the first trans-led specialist gender identity legal practice and registered charity in the UK. Service Introduction 

The Social Media department is integral to our organisation. The social media team works together to create informative and entertaining content to build a community around the Trans Legal Clinic. We have assisted over 70 clients since October 2023.

Our Social Media department is made up of committed Social Media Content Officers, working under the Social Media Manager. 

Key tasks and responsibilities 

Design and Content Creation 

Be adept and comfortable using Canva, with an eye for design. 

Create engaging and eye-catching posts and content for Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn. 

Write engaging captions and copy for social media content to drive engagement across social media channels.  

Confident using video editing software and a willingness to learn new editing software as and when required. 

Write and edit scripts for video posts. 

Teamwork 

Engage with assigned tasks and support other volunteers in the social media team.

Keep your fellow volunteers and manager updated on your content creation and any issues you encounter throughout the process.   

Set out to reach team performance targets.

Attend team meetings and contribute to discussions.

Be respectful to colleagues and support good communication between all stakeholders. 

Work with caseworkers to create content for specific raised issues. 

Research and Outreach 

Create resources for the organisation and those seeking information on our website in a digestible way. 

Reach out to other organisations, especially those that work with trans* people, to collaborate and share knowledge and resources.   

Conduct research into relevant topics and how they affect trans* and gender diverse people. 

Review 

Review and evaluate own performance to identify strengths and areas for development. 

Undertake development and training opportunities. 

General 

Adhere to Trans Legal Clinic’s Policies and Procedures at all times. 

Cover for other members of the team and department as necessary. 

Be proactive in reviewing and evaluating own performance and identifying upon areas for improvement and development.

A bit about this role

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best – whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! What can you expect to be doing?

This is a really flexible role – you can choose what you’d like to get involved with:

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins
• Online fundraising – setting up online appeals, increasing social media engagement to maximise funds raised
• Marketing – spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  
• Completing administration – processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork
• Championing our work – getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

Treasurer (trustee) for Age UK Berkshire

Do you have financial oversight and enthusiasm to help an organisation that supports older people across in Berkshire?
You could be the next Treasurer for Age UK Berkshire, a local charity with a nationally trusted name.

With origins in the 1950s, and now a thriving £1m+ charity that works with and for older people across the whole county, Age UK Berkshire is looking for our new Treasurer, to support the Board and CEO in our financial governance for the future.

You won’t be preparing day-to-day financial statements, as these are provided by our outsourced accountancy firm. Rather, you’ll have a strategic oversight of our finances, bringing your analyses and advice to help us to strengthen and grow our services.

In 2023/2024, our total income was £1,736,856, and our Balance Sheet stood at £1,948,760, making all our trustees’ governance of these funds a highly-responsible duty.

The role and what we are looking for in a new Treasurer 

Our Board includes people with experience in working with and for older people, and we’d expect our new Treasurer to have strong empathy with our cause and our beneficiaries. 

You’ll have experience of financial management, possibly in a SME or charity. Having a financial qualification would be very useful but isn’t a requirement; similarly, an understanding of the charity SORP or FRS102 isn’t necessary but would be welcome.

The ability to communicate financial information clearly, especially to other trustees, is very important. Support from our outsourced accountants will be available, as they produce our management accounts.

You don’t necessarily need prior experience of charity trusteeship, as full induction will be provided, plus specialist support as a new trustee including access to external training.

We are a charity not a business, but we apply business principles to governing our organisation. We want to expand the diversity of our Board, in all meanings of the word, and strongly welcome applications from people from less-represented groups. 

The focus of a trustee role is strategic, and trustees don’t get involved in the organisation’s operations; however, regular contact and liaison with other trustees, employees and volunteers is expected.   

We ask for about six hours per month which includes all meetings, discussions, etc., probably more at year-end and at our AGM. You will need access to digital communications, as much of our charity’s business is run that way.

Charity Trustee

You and Me Counselling are currently recruiting volunteer trustees to complement the committee members already in their role.

This is a home working role and will be for immediate start.

Our charity

You and Me Counselling is a charitable organisation established in 2011. We are a counselling and psychotherapy service based in Hornchurch, Essex that works with children, young people, adults, and their families in the boroughs of Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest. Our counsellors and therapists work both within schools and from our counselling rooms located in Hornchurch and Ilford.

You and Me Counselling are an organisational member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). This means we are fully governed by the BACP’s Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Job Description

As a trustee you will need to:

• Acknowledge emails at least once a day.
• Give a minimum of one hour per week to the role.
• Attend quarterly trustee meetings online.
• Ensure that You and Me Counselling pursues its stated objectives
• Ensure there is regular review of changes that might affect the organisation (political, financial, demographic, etc.)

Your Role as a Mentor

As a mentor, you will hold weekly one-on-one sessions of 1-3 hours for the duration of 12 months. You will help build confidence, resilience, and help your mentee manage feelings through a series of fun experiences and activities. Whether you’re playing games or discussing goals, you’ll be making a difference in a child’s life by developing the tools for a positive future.

About the Role

We are seeking enthusiastic and skilled Workshop Facilitators to deliver engaging and impactful workshops across a variety of settings, including schools, charities, and community organizations. This role is ideal for creative individuals passionate about inspiring others, with experience in education, youth work, or delivering interactive sessions.

As a Workshop Facilitator, you will deliver workshops designed to address a range of topics such as financial literacy, mental health, social issues, or creative skills like zine-making or storytelling. You’ll play a vital role in empowering participants, fostering their creativity, and promoting personal development.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate Workshops: Deliver pre-designed workshops effectively, ensuring they are engaging, inclusive, and tailored to the audience.
• Plan & Prepare: Review workshop content in advance and adapt materials to suit the needs of the group where necessary.
• Engage Participants: Create a welcoming and supportive environment that encourages active participation and creativity.
• Manage Logistics: Ensure smooth running of the workshop, including setting up materials, maintaining a schedule, and addressing any issues.
• Collect Feedback: Gather participant feedback to improve future sessions and report on workshop outcomes.
• Promote Safety: Follow safeguarding protocols and create a safe environment for all participants.

Skills & Experience Required

• Essential:

  • Experience delivering workshops or working with groups in an educational, creative, or community setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Passionate about social impact, education, or creative arts.
  • Organized and reliable, with the ability to work independently.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.

• Desirable:

  • Experience working with young people or marginalized communities.
  • Knowledge in specific topics (e.g., financial literacy, mental health, creative arts).
  • Access to transportation for sessions across multiple venues.

From elderly moggies to energic kittens, every day across the UK cats and kittens are in need of a temporary place to stay, and lots of love and TLC! We need more fosterers like you to provide a safe, temporary haven for cats and kittens and provide them with everything they need before they get their chance to land on their four paws and make a house a home.

You can expect us to

• Ensure you have all you need in place to foster the cat(s) in your care, for example equipment and food
• Cover all your foster cats’ expenses and agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy

A bit more information about this role and the team

Must have access to a car and be happy to drive cats to/from vets, other Cats Protection sites etc.

We are looking for the following:

·People with a spare room that the cat can spend it's first week in, before having whole house access.
 

·People with a spare room that the cat can spend the duration of it's stay in.
 

·People with space in their garden for a cattery pen.  Please note, we'd like to trial indoor fostering with you first to make sure you enjoy the role, as there is significant outlay in terms of time and cost if we install a pen.

What we need from you 

• A stable, safe and compassionate environment in your home or in a purpose-built pen in your garden provided by us
• Enrich the cats’ experience in care including play, exercise and appropriate handling/interaction
• A willingness to complete some training in order to provide high standards of cat welfare
• Introduce cats to prospective adopters so they can find their forever home

Time expectation

Our volunteer fosterers usually spend around one and a half hours per day (around 10 to 13 hours per week) in this role, but this might vary depending on the number of cats or kittens in care.
