Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales.  Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone

Our amazing team of vibrant & diverse volunteers helps us run over 600 shops. Our stores sell lots of great donated & new goods to help raise vital funds to make a real difference to disadvantaged children, young people and families across the UK.

Our retail stores are the face of our charity on the high-street and in local communities. We have loads of amazing stock donated to us every week, and this all needs to be sorted, tagged and put on the shop-floor for sale!

Making sure our shops look fantastic is another task you can get involved with. You may also be required to help out on the till too, but we will show you how that works during your time volunteering with us. We value the contribution of everyone who supports Barnardo’s.

You will be a friendly face of Barnardo’s by volunteering in one of our shops. It would be great if you could volunteer one shift a week (or even more if you want) but we’re always happy to be flexible to work around your availability.

We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Volunteering in the shop

Mary's Living & Giving for Save the Children is unique - a vibrant result of the generous gifts of local individuals and companies being turned around by the skills and passions of volunteer teams, to create a destination retail experience. Selling womenswear, menswear, shoes, and bags to household goods, our shops can be found in the London villages and bring in vital funds for Save the Children.

Our Fulham Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

What happens next?

After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal trial shift. It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hopefully allowing you to get a feel for the role and make sure it’s for you. We also ask for a couple of references (these don’t have to be formal workplace ones, just someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related).

For nearly 39 years, Shama Women’s Centre has provided vital services for women across Leicester. We support women facing barriers including health inequalities, domestic violence, economic exclusion, and low employment rates, helping them gain confidence, skills, and independence. As we plan for the future, we are looking for passionate, committed, and skilled individuals to join us as Volunteer Management Committee Members to help guide our work, strengthen our governance, and ensure we continue delivering life-changing services.

What will you be doing?

As a Committee Member, you will be part of the governing body responsible for the strategic direction, decision-making, and oversight of Shama Women’s Centre. Committee Members work collectively to ensure that the charity remains legally compliant, financially stable, and true to its mission and values. Whether you’re an experienced board member or looking for your first Committee Member role, this is an opportunity to use your skills and expertise to make a real difference to the lives of women in Leicester.

What are we looking for?

We welcome interest from anyone with a passion for empowering women and a commitment to Shama’s mission. In particular, we are seeking individuals with skills and experience in: 

• Finance & Accounting - with the potential to take on the Treasurer role in future (day to-day finances are handled by staff, so this is a strategic oversight role). 
• Business Development & Sustainability - helping us identify opportunities to strengthen and diversify our income. Fundraising & Grant Applications - providing insight and expertise to support successful funding bids. 
• Human Resources - supporting the development of policies and best practices to manage staff and volunteers effectively. 
• Health Sector Experience - particularly around health inequalities affecting racially minoritised communities. 
• Strong Communication & Report Writing Skills - helping ensure our governance documents, strategies, and reports are clear, professional, and aligned with our values.

Reflecting the Communities We Serve 

As Shama is a BAME-led organisation, we are particularly keen to recruit Committee Members from racially minoritised backgrounds, especially women with lived experience who understand the cultural and social challenges facing our service users. We are also happy to support first-time Committee Members, offering induction and ongoing training to help you succeed in the role.

Time Commitment:

• Four board meetings per year (held in person at Shama Women’s Centre, Leicester, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm).
• Attendance at occasional events, such as our Annual Celebration and AGM.
• Some voluntary input between meetings, typically a few hours per month depending on your role and availability.

The TrusteeWorks Team at Reach Volunteering are supporting Shama Women’s Centre with their Committee Member recruitment. Applications should be made via TrusteeWorks in the first instance. To apply please submit your CV along with a covering letter stating why you wish to join the organisation and how your skills and experience would add value to the board. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Each Summer BECA hosts a 3-week, half-day, day-camp for students in elementary grades, to provide students with opportunities to remain immersed in the English language over the long break through fun games and activities – making the transition back to classes in August less difficult and preventing summer learning loss. Each year, we seek out a team of 6-8 Volunteer Summer Camp Counselors to work with approximately 75-100 students across multiple grade levels, with about 15-20 students per classroom. 

In addition to supporting students, Summer Camp Counselors will also: conduct 1-2 home visits per week with the Summer Camp Director, commit to a service project on the school grounds, as well as host team dinners on a weekly basis. 

REQUIRED DUTIES:

• Plan, execute, and document daily activities for students in a collaborative environment

• Make summer camp a fun way for students to maintain/increase their English language ability

• Work collaboratively to plan activities across disciplines including art, reading and writing, and physical education

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• A commitment to BECA’s mission and a dedication to social justice

• Fluency in English

• Experience working with children (preferred, but not required)

• Willingness to operate and be creative in a low-resource environment

• Foundational knowledge of Spanish (not required, but helpful)

Because the Summer Camp is a supplemental program, BECA recoups the program’s expenses through donations paid by Summer Camp Counselors who wish to participate. In exchange for this experience, we ask that you contribute or fundraise $1,500 for the BECA program to help defray costs (food, accommodation, training, materials, and a high-speed internet connection). A reduced contribution may be available for applicants with demonstrated need.

For current college students, please note that volunteers in the past have successfully applied for on-campus grant monies to cover this expense and travel. We encourage you to explore what opportunities your college offers to subsidize summer experiences. Please contact us if you have any questions; we will try to help you in any way possible.

MenWalkTalk has been developing at a pace and is now looking for new Trustees to help strengthen the Board to continue the growth.

Our Trustees play a vital role in making sure that MenWalkTalk achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity ensuring that MenWalkTalk has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the executive team to enable MenWalkTalk to grow and thrive, and through this, achieve our mission.

Board members have a collective responsibility. This means that Trustees always act as a group and not as individuals.

Duties:

• Support and provide advice on MenWalkTalk’s purpose, vision, goals and activities.
• Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
• Oversee MenWalkTalk’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
• Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
• Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
• Review and approve MenWalkTalk’s financial statements.
• Provide support and challenge to MenWalkTalk’s CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority and affairs.
• Contribute to regular reviews of MenWalkTalk’s own governance. Attend Board meetings, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.
• Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect MenWalkTalk’s interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third party interests.
• Contribute to the broader promotion of MenWalkTalk’s objects, aims and reputation by applying your skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts.

As a small charity, there will be times when the Trustees will need to be actively involved beyond Board meetings. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, presenting externally, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.

We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board. The ideal candidates will have 3 or more years previous governance experience in the UK charity sector.

Terms of office

• Trustees are appointed for a 3 year term of office.
• This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

• Attending 6-9 Board meetings annually. Currently meetings are held remotely each month.
• Attending 2 annual strategy / training days

Committee membership

Membership of at least one of the Trustee committees attending relevant meetings and reporting back to the Board.

Oxfam's Wilmslow Shop is looking for Shop Volunteers to help Oxfam’s fight to support the world’s most vulnerable communities.

We’re looking for volunteers who can give 4-8 hours (or more!) of their time in the shop each week, and we’re excited to welcome brand new volunteers to our stores!

Right now, we're looking for people to help out in the shop on the till, helping customers, and for people to help out in our fashion department!

Your time will make a huge difference. We estimate one four-hour shift will, on average, provide enough income to enable Oxfam to provide life-saving handwashing facilities for 81 people.

About Children With Voices

Children With Voices (CWV) is a grassroots non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of children and families through community-driven programs. We run holiday clubs, healthy lifestyle education, and intervention projects for children aged 5–11 to combat childhood obesity, antisocial behaviour, and gang involvement.

The Role – Board Member (Volunteer)

We are seeking passionate, community-minded individuals to join our Board of Trustees. As a board member, you will provide oversight, guidance, and strategic support to help CWV grow its reach and impact. You don’t need previous board experience – just the drive to make a difference and bring your unique skills, networks, or community insight to the table.

Key Responsibilities

•Attend and contribute to quarterly board meetings and occasional strategy sessions.

•Support the development of CWV’s strategic vision and community impact.

•Use your professional expertise or lived experience to inform board decisions (e.g. education, youth work, business, legal, HR, marketing, fundraising, etc.).

•Leverage your personal or professional network to promote CWV’s work and connect us with funding, partnerships, or opportunities.

•Ensure CWV operates in line with its charitable aims, legal obligations, and good governance practices.

•Act as an ambassador for CWV at events, with funders, and across your networks.

What We’re Looking For

We welcome board members from a wide range of backgrounds. You may have experience in:

•Community development or youth services

•Education, social work, or mental health

•Fundraising, business development, or marketing

•Finance, governance, HR, or legal

•Lived experience of the issues CWV addresses

•Or a strong passion for helping children and communities thrive

Commitment

•Time required: 6–10 hours per month (flexible)

•Location: Remote and/or London-based meetings (hybrid)

•Term: Minimum one-year commitment (renewable)

•Training and induction provided

We are a local charity dedicated to providing social welfare advice, information, and support through our incredible team of staff and volunteers. We are now seeking two new Trustees to join our board and help guide our organisation forward.

Last year, we:

✅ Addressed over 37,000 separate issues for those in need

✅ Secured nearly £2 million in additional income to support people during the cost-of-living crisis

Who We’re Looking For

What’s Involved?

As a Trustee, you will:

�� Attend at least five board meetings per year (in-person and remote, often in the evenings)

��Participate in one annual trustee development day

��Have opportunities for further involvement in shaping our work

This is a voluntary role, but all reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Volunteering does not affect state benefit entitlement.

Parkinson's UK local groups offer friendship, support, and numerous activities for people affected by Parkinson's.

In Winchester, the group is a core part of the local Parkinson's community. As a committee volunteer you'll help connect people to the group, whilst making sure existing members stay up to date with the activities provided. You could have a hand in arranging activities too, whether it's seated yoga, or a chance for friends and family of those living with Parkinson's to meet - and all activities are open to you too.

You'll build existing connections, and meet new people in your local area, all whilst making a difference to those living with Parkinson's in Winchester.

The group meets each month, but many of our volunteers undertake parts of their roles from home - at a time that suits them. This is a flexible role, and you could be doing any or all of the tasks on the role description - speak to your staff contact for more detail.

Why we want you

Local groups across the UK are run by volunteers and offer friendship and support to people living with Parkinson's and their families and friends. Each group has a committee, who work together to plan the groups activities or fundraising - all in line with Parkinson's UK guidelines.

What you will be doing

• Keep up to date about the news and developments of Parkinson's UK more widely, sharing these with the group
• contributing ideas for fundraising, activities and speakers
• sharing experiences with the committee and connecting with the local community
• helping to prepare for and clear up after group meetings
• assisting at fundraising events and any activities arranged by the branch
• taking notes / minutes at meetings and events

The skills you need

• be a good communicator, as you will be working with a wide range of different people
• Honest; you'll know when to ask for help, or when tasks might be seen as less important, and able to share that with Parkinson's UK and your group
• be collaborative and team focused, as you will take part in regular meetings and discussions
• be motivated and reliable, and able to show patience and empathy when dealing with sensitive situations

We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Volunteering in the shop

Our Shrewsbury Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

What’s important to us is that you are a team player, open to learning and to follow our policies as well as be an excellent representative for Save the Children.

We know that our shop teams are stronger when they are inclusive and representative of their communities. Everybody can make a real difference. People come to us for all sorts of reasons, from all backgrounds, and we will do what we can to find a role that works for you.

What happens next?

After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal trial shift. It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hopefully allowing you to get a feel for the role and make sure it’s for you. We also ask for a couple of references (these don’t have to be formal workplace ones, just someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related).
