Brief role description:

At parkrun, we’re working to transform our tech stack to make it fit for the future. The Junior Software Engineer will be a key team member, supporting this transformation.

The Junior Software Engineer will work on a wide range of systems and technologies, including C#, PHP, JavaScript, AWS, Azure. Working independently and collaboratively, you will help to build and maintain our websites, apps and backend systems.

No two days will be the same as you find ways to balance technical best practice against the requirements of the wider business as it grows.

The Junior Software Engineer must be proactive and have a willingness to learn, rather than having deep technical knowledge.

Please note this role will require regular travel between our London and Leeds office. 

Main responsibilities:

• Supporting the implementation of accessible and responsive websites and apps, supporting parkrun’s mission to make a healthier, happier planet.

• Proactively contributing to the development and maintenance of new and existing systems.

• Maintaining accurate documentation.

• Diagnosing and fixing issues within parkrun’s technical ecosystem.

• Participating in the out-of-hours support rota.

Essential experience requirements:

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

• Basic knowledge of a programming language (e.g. Python, PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#) and databases (SQL or NoSQL)

• Understanding of:

  • how REST APIs work

  • using automated software testing such as unit and integration tests

  • version control systems (e.g Git)

• Awareness of:

  • frontend/backend decoupling and design patterns such as MVC

  • web accessibility requirements

  • computer security fundamentals and best practices

Desirable experience requirements:

• Basic understanding of mobile application or web development

The Role

The Communications Manager (to Executive) is responsible for what, where and how the Chief Executive, Directors (collective referred to as ‘Directors’ from this point forward) and members of the Board of Trustees communicate about the charity to employees, volunteers and supporters.

You will enable charity leaders to convey and reinforce consistent messages to build reputation and trust in both the charity and the leadership of the charity.

As Communications Manager (to Executive), you will be responsible for Directors’ communication about the charity and its:

- purpose

- brand

- public affairs

- reputation (including crisis management and responses to complaints)

The role holder will help to identify communication gaps and opportunity, working with Directors to address these through a communication plan.

You will plan, agree, draft and support Directors to deliver proactive thought-leadership.

Specifically, you will:

· Develop and agree a bespoke internal/external communication plan for Directors, reflecting both their shared, collective role in leading the charity.

· Optimise existing, and develop new, communication channels to enable Directors to reach new audiences and reinforce messages to existing audiences.

· Identify corporate developments, projects and initiatives that will benefit from Director communication and work with project/initiative leader(s) to ensure a planned, aligned and integrated approach to key messages and their delivery.

 

Brand

· Ensure the charity’s brand, strategy and purpose is accurately and proactively reflected in all messaging and content which quotes or is on behalf of Directors.

· Reflect the charity’s tone-of-voice, taking a plain-English approach to communication by avoiding technical terms, jargon and acronyms.

 

Process and Governance

· Ensure Directors are advised about potential PR and communication opportunities and can consider and input before they are committed to.

· For proactive communication, diarise approval time in Directors’ diaries and provide Executive briefings and content well in advance (giving weeks’ rather than days’ notice) so that there is plenty of time for Directors to review, adapt and approve before the deadline or event.

· Where reactive opportunities (e.g. tv and radio interviews) are available, ensure the relevant Director has adequate notice and time to prepare, negotiating longer timeframes on their behalf where this is possible and necessary.

Job Purpose

The Head of Community Support and Operations is a pivotal new role being introduced to the executive team at Barnsley CVS.  This person will be a key role in the growth and development of the executive team.  You will play an exciting part in the delivery and development of the recently developed 4-year strategy and theory of change. As the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will play a critical role in shaping the operational future of Mermaids. Working closely with the CEO and wider team, you will lead the development and delivery of robust finance, people, income generation and operational strategies that ensure we are well equipped to meet the needs of the communities we exist to serve. We are looking for someone with a track record of delivering meaningful transformation across finance and operational functions, ideally in a charity or values-driven setting. This role is fully remote, full time with a four day working week (32 hours).

You’ll be responsible for managing events, engaging supporters, and contributing to a strong pipeline of fundraising activity. Children and young people across the UK are facing a growing mental health crisis. At Transforming Lives for Good (TLG), we believe the local church has a vital role to play in responding - offering early, relational and therapeutic support that can fundamentally change life trajectories for children and families. Our vision is fullness of life for every child, no matter what struggles they face.

As Director of Programmes & Impact, you will be a key member of TLG’s Core Leadership Team, with responsibility for the growth, quality and impact of our UK‑wide programmes, currently supporting around 5,000 children in partnership with more than 220 churches. You will lead a talented senior team, pioneer new and existing models of support, and ensure everything we do delivers deep, measurable and meaningful change in children’s lives.

We are seeking a senior leader who can lead programmes at scale, use insight and evidence to drive impact, and navigate change and complexity with confidence. You will model prayerful, emotionally healthy leadership, with a deep commitment to therapeutic, trauma‑informed practice firmly rooted in the life and mission of the local church.
