We are seeking our first Head of Fundraising to join our Senior Leadership Team, build the function and leave a legacy.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will lead on developing and delivering our fundraising strategy, with primary focus on trusts and foundations and corporate partnerships, with the potential to grow individual philanthropy in the future.
You will be a key ambassador for the organisation, building and managing strong, long-term relationships with funders who share our mission. You’ll bring vision, strategic clarity and emotional intelligence to developing compelling cases for support, always ensuring alignment with organisational goals and understanding that for us, income is a vehicle to impact.
You’ll manage and develop one Senior Officer initially, with the possibility that we may be able to expand the team as income grows. The Senior Officer post is currently empty, so we hope that you’ll be able to be involved in the recruitment of this post enabling you to shape your own team. You’ll also play a wider role in shaping the organisation’s strategy and culture as part of a collaborative and ambitious leadership team.
Key responsibilities:
Strategy and Leadership
- Lead development and execution of a fundraising strategy focused on trusts,foundations and corporates (with a possible addition of individual philanthropy further down the line).
- Act as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to organisational strategy, planning and culture, and supporting the Chief Executive to report to the board on fundraising.
- Manage, develop and grow the Senior Officer role; build a high-performing team.
Fundraising and Relationship Management
- Create and manage a pipeline of funding opportunities, securing multi-year grants and strategic partnerships that support our research, policy and delivery ambitions, and reflect our values.
- Lead the development of major funding bids - including drafting proposals and coordinating input from SLT colleagues and other relevant team members.
- Cultivate, steward and deepen relationships with existing and prospective funders, acting as a confident and credible ambassador.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues to develop strong proposals, cases for support and pitch materials, including engaging in depth with some of the complex research that we seek to fund.
- Represent the organisation externally — in meetings, networks and events.
Innovation, Growth and Sustainability
- Develop and test models to diversify income to enable impact – building on our current strategy, but bringing an open mind to exploring new activities.
- Embed fundraising monitoring, evaluation and performance reporting into the organisation; ensure transparency with senior leadership and trustees.
- Maintain close alignment between fundraising strategy and organisational strategy, ensuring funder relationships are ethical, values-aligned and sustainable.

Essential
- A proven track record of securing significant income from trusts, foundations and/or corporate partners.
- Experience in managing complex relationships with funders, with excellent stewardship and retention skills.

Terms:
- Reporting to: Chief Executive
- Staff supervised: One team member, who we hope you will be able to be involved in recruiting
- Annual Gross Salary: £64,800 (employees who are not London-based receive the same salary, including London weighting, but cover their own travel costs to the office, typically twice a month)
- Location: Either London-based, with two days per week in Money and Mental Health’s East London office, or home-based with the ability to travel to London at least twice per month. The role will also require some travel for meetings.
- Hours: Both full-time and part-time applicants considered, at a minimum of four days per week. Job shares, consolidated hours and other flexible working arrangements will be considered. Please indicate your preferred working hours on application.
- Contract type: Permanent
- Holidays: 28 days per year (including 3 days between Christmas and New Year when the office is closed), plus bank holidays
- Pension: Opportunity to be enrolled in the workplace pension scheme (subject to meeting standard auto-enrolment qualifying criteria). After enrolment, the charity contributes the equivalent of 5.5% of monthly gross salary, subject to an employee contribution of at least 2.5%.

Friendship International UK was established as a CIO in 2020, having previously been active as a Trust since 2010. Its objectives include the prevention and relief of poverty, the advancement of education as well as the prevention and relief of sickness and the advancement and preservation of health.
Job overview
Remuneration: day rate £250-350 for 8 hours depending on experience, anticipated 4-5 days per month.
Reporting to: Chair of Trustees, on a day-to-day basis through the Head of Partnership Development who is based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Contract: The initial contract is for 6 months with potential extension up to 2 years on meeting key fundraising targets.

Role description
The Fundraising/Partnership Development Officer will
· Manage the development and implementation of Friendship’s fundraising, partnership development, and partnership management activities in the UK
· Build a fundraising strategy that incorporates a range of activities and income streams, together with the Friendship International UK Board
· Develop a concrete action plan and core indicators or targets for fundraising in the UK on quarterly basis, which is to be presented to the Friendship International UK Board.
· Foster relationships with supporters, groups and organisations that fund or have the potential to fund Friendship International UK and be the first point of contact,
· Update the UK section of Friendship’s website with information related to fundraising and other information
· Manage social media platforms with information relating to fundraising activity
· Contribute to the work of the Friendship International UK Board, reporting to the Board and attending meetings as needed
· Maintain coordination with Friendship in Bangladesh for the development and finalization of documents, budgets, reports, etc. for submitting to existing and potential donors and partners.

· Have good experience working with CSR funds, grant-making trusts, institutional funders based in the UK, and foundations and high net worth individuals.

· Be able to follow up fundraising opportunities independently.
· Be able to follow up, finalize, and submit donor required narrative and financial reports, in close collaboration with the team in Bangladesh.

About you
We are seeking a motivated, creative and confident individual, who thrives on getting out and about and meeting with supporters. You will have at least 5 years’ experience of securing gifts from high net-worth individuals making gifts privately or through family trusts, donor advised funds and corporations.
Accountabilities
Lead the process of identifying and cultivating individual donor prospects (UK and international) capable of giving six- and seven- figure gifts, fully understanding their funding preferences, criteria and fit with Practical Action.
Steward a portfolio of loyal and high-quality donors, giving five and six figure annual gifts and ensure our donors receive exceptional stewardship, feel valued for their support and become advocates of Practical Action to their friends, family and networks.
Work with autonomy and represent Practical Action at one-to-one meetings and networking events with high net-worth individuals.
Work with senior colleagues and the Board of Trustees to identify prospects, build relationships and secure gifts from high net-worth individuals.
Distil complex information and messaging into powerful, emotive and high-quality tailored communications (including pitches, cases for support, bespoke proposals and donor reports) that demonstrate impact and inspire giving by individual donors and family trusts.
Person Specification
To be successful in the role, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
Significant fundraising experience (5 years+) of securing gifts from high net-worth individuals making gifts privately, or through family trusts, donor advised funds and corporations.
Excellent knowledge about philanthropy sector developments, trends and key philanthropic organisations and networks in the UK and internationally.
A strong and proven track record of building new prospect pipelines and of managing a portfolio of donors, including demonstrable experience of securing six- and seven-figure gifts.
An experienced and confident networker with a proven ability to build and maintain a diverse group of contacts, at all levels, both internally and externally, and represent Practical Action to inspire, secure commitment and support.
Knowledge of data protection principles, legal requirements, and ethical fundraising practice is essential.
Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to summarise and distil complex issues in an inspiring way.
Ability and confidence to influence and manage successful internal relationships including writing reports and donor meeting briefings for senior colleagues.
Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment, ensuring our donors receive excellent stewardship throughout their relationship with Practical Action.
Strong project management skills to lead approaches backed up by an appropriate level of research and analysis.

Support the delivery and evaluation of national campaigns on workplace safety as well as stalking, harassment and other priority areas.

Maintain effective relationships with civil servants, policy makers, national and local decision makers, and other campaigning bodies and build relevant networks of stakeholders.

Proactively keep abreast of issues within the post-holder’s own portfolio, general criminal justice, personal safety and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) policy developments and up to date campaigning techniques.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Policy and Campaigns Officer is responsible for supporting on Suzy Lamplugh Trust’s policy and campaigning work relating to reducing harassment, violence and aggression in society by addressing these issues at their root cause, working with employers to improve personal safety culture within organisations and seeking to influence policy and legislative change where necessary. This role will also support campaigns that ensure that victims of stalking receive better support and protection.

Job purpose: To lead and develop Remember A Charity’s marketing and communications programme, in line with our core mission of making legacy giving a social norm. This core focus of the role is on growing and engaging our audiences across the charity sector (members and non-members) and professional adviser communities (solicitors, Will-writers, wealth advisers).
The Marketing Manager will also contribute to the development of our consumer PR, marketing and digital programmes, led by the Director and Digital Communications Manager respectively.
This role would suit a confident and creative individual who is enthused by the opportunity of helping charities across the UK to grow and develop their long-term income. The successful candidate will work closely with the campaign’s members, professional advisers and, of course, colleagues within Remember A Charity and the wider CIOF.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of marketing activities targeting charity sector and professional adviser audiences, aligned with organisational strategy and KPIs.
- Develop and deliver communications for charity members and Campaign Supporters.
- Collaborate with internal colleagues and external agencies to support the execution of consumer-facing marketing and PR campaigns.
- Create compelling assets and resources to support recruitment, engagement, and retention of members and professional partners.
- Ensure external communications and creative outputs are consistent with the Remember A Charity brand.
- Represent the organisation, exhibiting and/or presenting at relevant events or meetings.
Responsibilities by area:
Charity sector
- Creation of promotional assets to support member acquisition and retention.
- Plan and deliver a dynamic member comms programme, including e-bulletins, impact reports and others.
- Help colleagues to coordinate and present at select member events.
- Manage sector-facing social media accounts (LinkedIn, X, and Bluesky).
- Support the Director with sector-facing editorial content.
- Gather and showcase member testimonials and case studies.
- Develop and promote guidance and resources to help members maximise their legacy fundraising.
- Enhance and develop the members’ area of the website, ensuring content is up to date and relevant.
Professional Advisers
- Responsibility for the marketing budget for professional advisers.
- Planning and delivery of marketing activity to grow our professional adviser network and maximise our impact, in line with our KPIs.
- Manage and grow the Campaign Supporter scheme for solicitors and Will-writers, delivering engaging communications and digital content that keeps charitable giving front of mind.
- Promote the importance of referencing the charitable option during Will-writing to professional advisers through events, direct marketing, social media, and advertising.
- Coordinate the campaign’s Legal Sector Advisory Group, organising quarterly meetings and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to engage wider professional audiences and influential groups within and beyond the legal sector, including but not limited to, wealth managers, Will-writing software providers, local government, regulatory and trade bodies (e.g. CILEX, CLC, NALP).
- Collaborate with CPD content providers to deliver training programmes on charitable Will-writing.
- Coordinate quarterly webinars for professional advisers on relevant Will-writing topics, working with internal and external partners.
- Create materials and promotional assets for professional advisers and campaign partners to equip them to advocate for legacies.
Consumers
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of consumer marketing and PR activity.
- Support members in making best use of the consumer-facing assets provided for them to use during Remember A Charity Week and beyond.
- Equip Campaign Supporters and Will-writing partners with resources to promote legacy giving during Remember A Charity Week and beyond.
All
- Collaborate with the team to review campaign activity and success measures against KPIs.
- Maintain and update website content for charity and professional adviser audiences.
- Uphold brand consistency across all external communications and creative outputs.
About You
Experience & Skills
- Experience of planning and delivering successful marketing programmes.
- Knowledge of the UK charity sector and/or legal market.
- Experience working in a customer-facing environment or dealing with a wide range of members and stakeholders.
- Effective presentation and networking skills.
- Familiarity updating webpages and using simple web-based design / delivery tools such as Canva and Mailchimp.
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) and experience of using a CRM system,
- Budget management preferable but not essential

- Able to work/travel outside office hours on occasions (i.e. attending conferences and meetings).
