WK Foundation cares deeply about providing opportunities for young adults from low income contexts through practical skills & socio-emotional training and job opportunities. WKF is a recently registered charity in South London, seeking to add trustees to their board to add skills & bring diverse voices that will best represernt our young adults. Our work is dedicated to reconnecting low income urban communities with sustainable food pathways, with the aim of breaking the cycles of poverty that are perpetuated by dysfunctional food systems. The board are particularly interested in candidates who identify as Black Caribbean or have mixed racial backgrounds, such as mixed race Black Caribbean/White or Pakistani/White British.

Our board is female led (Chair & CEO are female), and consists of a clinical phschologist, social entrepreneur, trained counsellor & HR practicioner, and regenerative food specialist. We are a friendly but professional bunch who start meetings with a moment of reflection and prayer, record excellent minutes and stick (for the most part) to a pre-agreed agenda and schedule. We are big on creating a culture that combines support and listening with action, accountability and forward movement and our vibe is positive, and inclusive. 

We are currently re-developing our holistic hospitality training programme called Nourish, for an October 2025 launch. Nourish provides hands on skills training, work experience and employment opportunities, as well as employment progression and support for young adults from low income context facing disadvantages. We work with young adults for up to 12 months.

Our work is underpinned by our regenerative food practises and is run in accordance with our Christian faith values & principles.

Chair/Co-Chair - Tamasha Theatre Company Ltd

Tamasha is seeking its next Chair or Co-Chairs. This is a wonderful opportunity to lead the Board of one of the UK’s leading Global Majority (ethnically diverse) theatre companies.

Tamasha is looking for someone who is passionate about arts and creativity and who has lived experience (or a significant understanding) of the challenges and opportunities facing Global Majority artists and communities in the UK today. About the Chair Role:

The incoming Chair will be an accomplished and influential senior leader, capable of motivating, developing, and getting the best out of our dedicated non-executive team. They will play a pivotal role by fostering a positive and collaborative relationship with the CEO, supporting them in setting ambitious goals and navigating strategic transitions effectively. SolarAid seek an individual with prior experience of chair roles, preferably with a background in international development focusing on poverty alleviation, although direct experience in the energy sector is not mandatory. An understanding of African operational contexts, along with expertise in program leadership and delivery, would be advantageous.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Provide effective strategic leadership to the Board and organisation.
• Ensure full engagement of all Trustees, prioritising decisions in SolarAid's best long-term interests
• Establish and build a strong, effective and constructive working relationship with the CEO, ensuring they are supported in achieving strategic objectives during this period of change for SolarAid.
• Facilitate inclusive, effective and efficient meetings of the Board of Trustees.
• Work with the CEO to represent the views of SolarAid to key stakeholders and the general public, and otherwise act as ambassador as required.

Time commitment

Around 24-30 days per annum. The board meets four times each year. The Chair is required to work informally with individual board members, and with the CEO, as required. There will be some ad hoc work relevant to SolarAid business, within or outside the charity from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively participate as a key member of the Board of Trustees.
• Support the development of the annual budget and future trajectories in line with the aspirations of the Irise’s strategic plan and fundraising strategy.
• Advise on all financial matters, including regulatory compliance.
• Oversee the development and observation of financial policies.
• Keep the Board of Trustees regularly informed of key financial events, trends, concerns and assessment of fiscal health in addition to completing financial reporting in a timely fashion, making these reports available to the Board within reason.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have sound financial knowledge and the time needed to comprehensively fulfil the role:

• Competent and experienced in handling finances, ideally within small charities (formal accountancy qualification preferred).
• Good understanding of the charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP)
• An understanding of the voluntary sector and previous experience as a Trustee

In addition, all trustees are required to fulfill the following duties as outlined by the Charity Commission. 

Before you apply, please consider:

Time Commitment: The Board meet at least every 3 months. All of our core Board meetings are held virtually on weekday evenings lasting approximately 1.5 hours. Board papers are circulated 1-week prior to each meeting to enable plenty of time to read through and ask questions prior to the meeting. In between Board meetings you may be invited to provide additional ad-hoc input such as providing insights via email or taking responsibility for researching and writing Board papers on particular issues. We also have 1-2 in-person meetings per year; where possible, we strive for hybrid access to enable inclusion of those people unable to attend in-person events. Trustees are also encouraged to participate in online and in-person events with our wider networks and supporters from the UK and East Africa, and to support our youth leadership initiatives, for example we ask one of our trustees to provide mentorship to our Empower Period Committee. In total, you can expect to spend an average of 1-2 hours per week on activities and meetings related to the role. The role is meant to be compatible with a full time job and caring responsibilities, and we always aim for trustee input to be as flexible and time efficient as possible. We are always open to new ideas to make our Board as accessible as possible.

Term: Trustees serve a mutually agreed term, usually of at least 3 years, as agreed by the trustee and the board depending on the needs and desires of the organisation and the individual trustee. As a Board we engage in a continuous cycle of reflection, and each year our Chair meets with each board member, one to one, to review and reflect.

Expenses: Trustees shall be reimbursed whenever possible for all reasonable traveling, subsistence and other expenses incurred in connection with their attendance at meetings or in carrying out any other duties or responsibilities of the role, but otherwise shall not be paid a remuneration.

About Saint Francis Hospice

Saint Francis Hospice is the main local provider of hospice care. The hospice has 18 specialist palliative care beds on its Ward within the Hospice. It also has an active well-being and day therapy service which provides one-to-one clinical and therapy appointments, as well as group wellbeing activities. 85% of our care is undertaken within the community.

These services are for anyone affected by advanced, progressive disease living in any of our catchment boroughs as shown on our map below. All areas are also covered by our hospice 24-hour Specialist Advice Line and by our Hospice at Home team; a team particularly supporting family and friends, and carers in the last few weeks of life.

We have a range of Well-being services including Bereavement Support for adults and Children, and our Orangeline support services for people in need of support during times of loneliness and loss.

The hospice is also the provider of specialist community and crisis support to people at home and in care homes in Barking & Dagenham, Havering and South West Essex, via a nurse-led specialist team. In Redbridge, that community specialist support is provided by the NHS and other care partners. Partnerships between our local Hospital Trusts and the hospice are well established including in the areas of end of life care services, education, out-of-hours consultant cover, shared cover for senior doctors between hospice and hospital and widening access to specialist palliative care services.

The hospice has an Education Centre on site offering a range of bespoke training and development opportunities for our staff and partner organisations. We offer junior doctor training and work closely with Southbank University providing BSc and MSc Palliative care programmes.

Our care strategy focuses on meeting growing demand whilst still delivering care tailored to each individual. It also includes an emphasis on the teaching, training and support of family, friends and our health and care partners and providers.

About the roles

Trustee recruitment:

To meet the changing needs and aspirations of the most diverse generation of young adults ever, our Board needs a range of perspectives, skills, and lived experience.

About the role

As our new Chair, you will be to lead the Board, working with the Chief Executive to raise the profile of The Association, represent us externally and support the continued development as a recognised and vital partner to our members. You will play an important role in consolidating a strong strategic position and effectively promoting the voice of our membership at a national policy level, utilising evidence from the sector.

You will be appointed on a three-year term, with a commitment of two days per calendar month on average. The Chair is appointed by members of the Board, recruited by a sub-committee formed by Member CEO Trustees.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking to appoint a Chair who is independent of any current or potential member agency and who has knowledge of the health and/or social care fields. You will have an understanding and experience of charity and/or public sector governance, with experience as a Chair, providing support and challenge to a Chief Executive.

Evidence of critical thinking and prioritising at a strategic level and an understanding and visible commitment to EDI will be key. You will come with well-developed communication skills, with internal and external audiences, and a commitment to support the Association’s membership to improve the mental health, care and support of individuals and communities.

The Quality of Life Foundation is looking for a new Trustee with financial expertise to join our existing board.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced professional to join the board of a growing and impactful organisation that is bridging the gap between health and wellbeing and the built environment.

The Quality of Life Foundation

The Quality of Life Foundation was established in 2019 by Prof. Sadie Morgan OBE. Its vision is for a housing system that improves people’s quality of life in their homes and neighbourhoods over the long term.

Our activities include research, thought leadership, training and strategy development, based on the organisation's Quality of Life Framework. Working with organisations in the public, private and third sectors, we are instigating practical projects to support more long-term thinking in industry and government. We are a small but influential organisation and have ambitious plans for growth over the coming years.

We were formally registered as a charity in 2022 and operate a wholly-owned commercial trading subsidiary.

The Role

The role of the Trustees is to set the organisation’s strategic direction, monitor the delivery of its objectives, and uphold its values and governance. The board will also guide, advise and support the Chair, who leads the delivery team towards achieving the Foundation’s vision and purpose.

For this role, we are specifically looking for someone with a finance background and existing or previous experience in charity finance and governance to work with existing trustees to oversee the financial matters of the charity in line with good practice and the legal obligations of the Charities Act.

The appointed trustee will sit on the Finance, Governance and Risk sub-committee and work with the Foundation’s Director and other trustees to update the board at regular intervals about the financial position of the Quality of Life Foundation and its trading subsidiary, QOLF Trading Ltd. NB all trustees are jointly and severally responsible for the administration of the charity.

• Supporting the Director and board to oversee the financial matters of the charity, and to ensure appropriate presentation of budgets, accounts, management accounts and financial statements.

• Ensuring that financial resources are spent in accordance with the Charity’s objectives, good governance, legal and regulatory requirements.

Main duties:

In addition to the general duties of a trustee, your time will be spent:

• Liaising with the Director and/or Business Manager and supporting on financial matters.

• Supporting the board to monitor the financial viability of the Quality of Life Foundation and its trading subsidiary, QOLF Trading Ltd.

• Creating, in conjunction with relevant senior staff, a set of sound financial processes and procedures for the control of the charity’s assets.

• Advising on the financial implications of the Quality of Life Foundation’s Strategic Plan.

• Reviewing the annual accounts and, where applicable, liaising with the Foundation’s external accountants to ensure the accounts are compliant with the current Charities’ statement of recommended practice (SORP).

• Ensuring that sound financial management is maintained and ensuring expenditure is in line with the Foundation’s charitable objectives.

Commitment

The board meets formally four to six times per year. In addition, you will be expected to join the Finance, Governance and Risk sub-committee of the board and to represent the Foundation at external events.

Board meetings are held online and once a year at a location in central London. They are generally held midweek during the working day.

Trustees report to the Chair of the board. The position is unpaid, but reasonable expenses will be covered.

The Vice Chairs’ role is to support the Chair in executing their duties. The Vice Chair continues to fulfil all those duties assumed when he/she became a trustee as outlined in the document The Trustee Board, Role and Responsibilities. The Vice Chair will assume the role of Chair in the absence of the chair. To this end, their duties are similar in that the Vice Chair will be expected to provide leadership in giving firm strategic direction to the charity and will be responsible for ensuring that the board meets regularly, keeps transparent records, agrees priorities, and ensures that the charity’s income sources, and expenditure allow it to meet its charitable aims. This includes:

• Ensuring the Chair has all information he/she requires in order to carry out their role to the best of their ability.
•  The Vice Chair will discuss and offer his/her advice to the Chair based on her understandingof the charity’s’ vision, values, mission, strategy and policy when the documents are due to be reviewed. 
• The Vice Chair may be, on occasion expected to represent the Chair at external functions and events. The Vice Chair must always act in the best interest of the charity.
• The Vice Chair will act as a point of contact for the trustees and others between formal meetings when the chair is unavailable. 
• The Vice Chair will ensure that regular meetings are held between the Chair and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to discuss any managerial issues and strategy. 
• The Vice Chair must remain abreast of the laws and regulations relating to the charity’s’ activities. 
• The Vice Chair will support the Chair in monitoring the financial stability of the charity. 

PIP works mainly in the Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster communities to support adults with learning disabilities and autism. Our focus is on teaching and learning life skills so those we work with self-identify as PiP students. Ranging in age from 18 to 92, our average student is around 34 years old.

PiP students have a range of learning disabilities including Down's Syndrome, Fragile X, Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), dual diagnosis with mental health problems and/or physical health conditions such as Diabetes and Epilepsy.

What will you be doing?

Main Responsibilities:

● To liaise with the chair and chief executive to plan, arrange and produce agendas and supporting papers for trustee meetings and for drafting the subsequent minutes

● To act as charity secretary and ensure that charity law, and regulatory requirements of reporting and public accountability are complied with

Deputy Chair of the Board of Trustees - Role Description

Trustees play a crucial and key role in the strategic direction and steering of Youth Mix, ensuring we are a fantastic youth-led organisation for young people aged 16 to 26 years old. Trustees will also ensure quality, stability and positive outcomes for both young people and our new charity as we continue our journey.

This is an exciting time for the Charity as we roll out our mentoring programme. Following strategic discussions, we are now looking to reinforce and enrich our Trustee Board to provide support and guidance to our Operational Team to enable them to achieve our ambitious 1 year and 3-year plans, whilst also ensuring robust succession plans in place for the Board.

We are looking for a new Treasurer and Trustee with professional financial experience to support L’Arche in an ongoing financial transformation project.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Treasurer’s responsibilities:

• Providing financial accountability and supporting the Finance Director.
• Helping other trustees to carry out their financial responsibilities by presenting reports in an accessible way.
• Signing the accounts and receiving the audit report.
• Presenting the accounts to the AGM.
• Chairing the Finance Sub-Committee, which leads the Board on financial accountability and strategy.

• Ensure that L’Arche in the UK has a clear vision, mission, and strategy and is focused on achieving them.

Time Commitment

The Board typically meets five times a year, including the AGM. Some of the meetings are on video call, and others in person. Routine meetings are on a weekday afternoon, interspersed with full day sessions for strategy, and for meeting the L’Arche National Speaking Council (made up of members with learning disabilities). The Treasurer also chairs the Finance Sub-Committee which meets online for two hours four or five times a year. Board members are asked to cultivate some contact with L’Arche community life, and to find ways to build relationships in one or more of our local L’Arche Communities.
