About We Are Family
We Are Family is an extraordinary peer support community for adopters and prospective adopters. We’re there for parents throughout their adoption journey. Online and in person, our parents’ groups, events, resources, podcasts and talks offer mutual support, information and inspiration to adopters and those considering adoption. We currently operate across Greater London and the Home Counties, with ambitions to scale nationally over the coming years.

The Role
We are looking for new trustees to strengthen and enhance our board. The key responsibilities of the role include, governance, overseeing policy and direction, financial oversight and assisting with the leadership and general promotion of We Are Family to support the organisation’s Vision, Mission, Values and needs.
This is a voluntary opportunity with associated Trustee expenses - such as travel / childcare - covered by We Are Family. Trustees can be based anywhere in the UK.
Commitment
Trustee capacity to devote the time needed for the following is essential:

4 Board meetings per year

2 Board away days per year (on a Saturday)

Membership of at least one sub-committee (which also meet 4 times a year)
We estimate 8-10 hours for the charity per month. The duration of membership for a new Board member is for three years in the first instance, with the possibility of appointment for a further three year term.
Skills and Experience
All applicants should be able to demonstrate the following:

Be able to show high levels of professionalism and an ability to work collaboratively with others, including Trustees, our core team and the wider Volunteer network at We Are Family

Be well-organised, with good written and verbal communication skills.

Previous board/trustee experience is not necessary and we welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds. A thorough induction, and further trustee training as appropriate, can be provided.

Although many of our current trustees are adopters themselves, we are also keen to recruit suitably qualified people who are not, but who can demonstrate a commitment to the values and mission of We Are Family.
One of the great strengths of We Are Family is that we are volunteer and member driven, and we represent a diverse community of adoptive parents. We particularly welcome trustees from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds to ensure that the board can benefit from this diversity of experience. We would also welcome single adopters to the board.

The Irish Chaplaincy is a leading social action charity, rooted in faith, providing high quality services and support to excluded, vulnerable and isolated Irish people in England and Wales. Prisoners: A prison visiting, information and advocacy service for Irish prisoners in Britain and their families.
Travellers: Research, advocacy and education to improve the situation of Travellers within the criminal justice system.
Seniors: Pastoral outreach and befriending to alleviate the social exclusion and loneliness of older Irish people, and to offer a knowledgeable, compassionate and comforting presence for end-of-life issues and funeral arrangements.

The Better Together Learning Trust is seeking a suitably committed and experienced individual to join an established Board of six other Trustees as a Director with expertise in one of the following areas. Governance, legal, sustainability or the broader education environment
The role is non-remunerated and carries the full responsibilities of a company Director in line with the Companies Act (2006).
About the Trust
Better Together Learning Trust came into being in September 2017 and is currently comprised of one Academy, Friars Academy, and a free school, Chelveston Road School.
Both schools provide education for children and young people with special educational needs aged 11 to 19 in North Northamptonshire. Friars Academy has been rated outstanding by Ofsted in two inspections in June 2015 and 2019, and Chelveston Road School was rated good in 2023.

Like other Trusts, Better Together Learning Trust is operating in a challenging economic environment. We wish to grow our operation and influence, but we recognise the need to do this organically. We are developing an updated strategy focussing on our excellence in care for pupils with special needs.

Role and person specification
We are looking to recruit two Director’s to join an established Board of six other Trustees. The person’s role is as follows:
· To advise, support and hold to account the leadership team of the Trust as it seeks to grow the Trust
· To utilise their commercial knowledge to advise the Trust Board in the development of its strategy
The person will also act with other directors to develop a clear vision and strategic direction for the MAT and to oversee the prudent use of resources in accordance with company and charity law. The successful candidate will have a track record of working at a strategic level in organisations and preferably a background in leading and developing a business. Like other directors, the applicant needs to have a passion for education and ambition for those with special educational needs.
Commitment of time
The applicant will need to commit to meeting as a Board 6 times a year, which may include an annual strategic review day, and in a sub-committee 3 times a year. There may also be ad hoc face-to-face meetings which consist of hearing appeals or complaints. Board and Committee meetings start at 6pm on Tuesdays or Thursdays and are face-to-face during term time. Sub-committee meetings commence at 4.15pm.

We are looking for a Chair of Trustees who is passionate about the cause but also keen to get involved and help drive the charity’s strategic direction.
Working for a small Muscular Dystrophy family charity, you will work closely with trustees and the charity’s founder and CEO to drive the organisations strategic direction.

The Role
You will work closely with the charity’s founder and CEO but also you will lead the trustees in strategy, good governance, and policy development. As part of this engagement, the Chair will provide support to the CEO, including supporting his wellbeing and ongoing professional development.
Other duties will include:
· When necessary, ensure the Chair and Trustees challenge the CEO constructively and only in the best interests of the charity as ‘critical friends’.
· Liaising with the Charity Secretary, and the CEO with drafting agendas and supporting papers for Trustee meetings, ensuring provision of timely information and sharing with all.
· Ensure charity business is covered efficiently and effectively in meetings.
· Undertake a leadership role to ensure that board members fulfil their governance responsibilities and that trustee decisions are acted upon.
· Maintain trustees’ commitment to board renewal, succession planning and trustee performance reviews, in line with the governing document.
· Ensure board and trustee performance is reviewed annually.
· Ensure the performance of the CEO is reviewed annually.
The Chair will also ensure that Trustees make an effective contribution and are engaged, fully involved and invested in the charity in discharging their responsibilities.
Time Commitments
· The time commitment required to fulfil the Chair role will be somewhere between 2-3 days per month
· MHF’s Trustee Board meets virtually once every 2 months, for 2 hours, within the financial year (1st Mar – 29th Feb)
· The Chair & trustees are encouraged to attend and engage with at least one Muscle Dream programme per year
· The Chair will conduct an annual review meeting with each trustee, outside of any other trustee meetings
· The Association of Chairs (AoC) are an independent association of Chairs of social purpose and not-for-profits – formed to help Chairs with their unique task to lead the board in delivering the organisation’s aims – the AoC offer some excellent resources including Chair Training (if required)

The Association for Palliative Medicine of Great Britain and Ireland (APM) is one of the world's largest representative bodies of medical/healthcare professionals practicing or interested in palliative care, with a growing membership of over 1,400. Most members are doctors, and supporting them is the core focus of the APM. APM members support patients with life threatening illnesses to live and die as well as possible. It is the APM's mission to promote, facilitate, advance and develop excellence for the benefit of every individual patient and those important to them. About the APM:
The APM is a registered charity, and so it has a Board of Trustees acting as its governing body. About the Lay Trustee Role:
As a Lay Trustee, you will have the opportunity to work closely with fellow Trustees to shape the future of the APM. You will note that a medical background is not a pre-requisite of the role. As part of the Board of Trustees you will use your expertise in either a) financial management or b) equity, diversity and inclusion to ensure the APM is solvent, well-run, and delivering on its charitable objective.

Time commitment
The APM Board of Trustees will normally hold four meetings per year (likely to be a mixture of in-person and hybrid meetings). On average, it is estimated that the time commitment will equate to half a day per month, spread irregularly over a 12-month period. Trustees will serve a three-year term. Individual tenure may be extended by up to a maximum of a further three-year term to ensure orderly succession planning, subject to the agreement of the membership.

We are developing and strengthening our clinical services, improving our administrative and business systems and strengthening our financial position. CHEM Trust seeks new Trustees to guide the charity in the next exciting stage of its growth
CHEM Trust focuses its work on preventing this pollution. We bring together science and policy to identify the chemicals that need to be controlled and the best way to do this. We collaborate closely with other environmental and health groups to drive this positive change for people and nature.
Our main area of attention is at the EU level. Even though many improvements are needed, the EU is the region that has the most effective chemicals policy system and EU regulations shape other regulatory systems around the world. We do this work in association with our German partner, CHEM Trust Europe eV, as well as EU-wide groups such as the European Environment Bureau.
We also work in the UK, to keep us closely aligned with the EU system. At the global level we work to deliver improvements to global chemicals management, inspired and informed by the work already done at the EU level.
Since 2007, we have shaped chemicals policies, and are seen as trusted partners. We have a good reputation with experts, scientists, other charities, and industry. Many of our wonderful funders recognise the unique and vital work that we do and support us year in and year out.
We have grown considerably in recent years and now employ an amazing team of 12 people in the UK and a group of experts within the EU.

With a new European Parliament and European Commission starting work this year, and with an election soon in the UK, it is vital that we keep chemical pollution high on the agenda. The PFAS ‘forever chemicals’ are getting a higher and higher profile, but these are just the tip of an iceberg of harmful chemicals.

What will you be doing?
We are currently looking for a new, dynamic, creative and inspiring Chair of Trustees who can bring their energy and expertise to the organisation. We’re looking for someone with lived experience of emotional distress or maybe helping someone else through a tough time. We want to hear from people who like to think outside the box, brave enough to consider new ways of doing things and want to help bring around a new wave of support to our communities. You don’t need to have been a Trustee before, but you do need to be willing to do some training to help you understand the role and the responsibilities that come with it.

Expenses
You won’t get paid for your time, but we’ll make sure you aren’t out of pocket by covering the cost of your travel to meetings, childcare or other care if you need it, and a range of other expenses you might have while doing the role. We’ll book and/or pay for these in advance if you prefer.

After 3 years of sustained growth Mind in Somerset are seeking to recruit a further trustee to the Board.
We are a local mental health charity serving the people of Somerset. We are part of the national Mind network, and, like other local Minds, we run as an independent charity with our own strategy, funds and leadership. As a Trustee, you will be joining a charity in a strong position with a turnover of over £3 million and with an ambition to build on our successes and growth over the last few years. We will be looking to build on existing activities and also by bringing in innovative new projects.
