The Alice Ruggles Trust was established in 2017 after the death of Alice following a tragic stalking case perpetrated by her ex-boyfriend. The Alice Ruggles Trust is a charity that educates young people under 25 about stalking; it is our mission to foster generations of young people who understand stalking, the potential risks of stalking, and what they can do about it.
We’re looking for a skilled volunteer who can contribute to the Board, as well as provide strategic and operational fundraising advice and guidance.
As a Trustee with fundraising expertise, you will work with fellow Trustees and staff to advise on the financial stability of the organisation.
The role holder will be responsible for:

We are looking for a team player with experience of finance and fundraising best practice, preferably within the charity sector, to join our Board of Trustees As we continue to expand our services, our new Treasurer will help us to develop our procedures and strategies to ensure we maintain good governance. This is a hands on role which requires close working with our CEO, Finance Manager, Chair of Trustees and Accountants. The primary purpose of a Board Trustee is to work with the Chair, the Chief Executive, and the other Trustees to ensure that the Community Foundation fulfils its objectives and performance targets. For all the Trustee roles:
- The Trustee role is a voluntary position, open to all applicants, prior trustee experience is not required and a full induction programme will be provided.
- We are particularly looking for Trustees who can help us to ensure that our Board is as diverse as the local community that it serves in order to ensure a range of opinions and lived experience on our Board.
- Minimum engagement equivalent to one full day per month (typically spread out).
- Trustees must be able to attend 4 Board meetings per year (2-3 hours each). Offices are in Woking, and all meetings are hybrid to support remote attendance.
- And attend annual Board Away Day.
- And Trustees are also encouraged to participate in a minimum of one Board Sub-Committee (2-6 meetings per year depending on the committee).
- Trustees should also be able to commit to attending occasional Donor development events and/or visit grant recipient events from time to time.
- Trustees are appointed for an initial three-year term of office, after which they may be re-elected for a further 2 consecutive terms of three years.
- Trustees are voluntary positions, but expenses incurred in their duties may be reclaimed from the Foundation with the approval of the Chair and Chief Executive.

What will you be doing

The Alternatives to Violence Project is a network of skilled volunteers who run workshops for anyone who wants to find ways of resolving conflict without resorting to violence. We work in the community and in prisons.
What difference will you make?
The Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) serves people who want to handle conflict well without using or suffering violence, whether physical or psychological. Our trained volunteer facilitators deliver intensive, low-cost, conflict-resolution skills workshops in the community, in prisons and in other settings. We reach diverse communities, attracting people from across a wide spectrum of ages, ethnic backgrounds, and socio-economic backgrounds.
What will you be doing?
The overall role of the chair is to lead the Board as it sets strategic direction and oversees the good governance of the charity. You will be responsible for ensuring that the organisation is following correct governance and meeting its charitable obligations.
This is an active role, where time will need to be invested regularly outside of meetings to support this small charity.
In addition to the general responsibilities of a trustee, duties of the Chair include the following:

What will you be doing?
Main Responsibilities:
● To liaise with the chair and chief executive to plan, arrange and produce agendas and supporting papers for trustee meetings and for drafting the subsequent minutes

Job Summary:

Strategic

We are seeking a new Secretary to undertake administrative duties to support the board of trustees of the African Bird Club in fulfilling its responsibility for the good governance of the charity and in delivering its strategy. You will be one of five executive officers and as such, have a key role in helping to progress ABC’s status and mission.
The African Bird Club is dedicated to conserving birds and their habitats across the continent of Africa and related islands and furthering ornithology in this region. Who are Blood Pressure UK?
Blood Pressure UK is a national charity which was established in 1996. In the UK, 16 million people are estimated to have high blood pressure with one in three (5 million+ people) unaware their blood pressure is raised. Known as the Silent Killer as you can be unaware your blood pressure is raised until you experience heart attack or stroke, or it’s picked up in a random check.
For over 20 years we have been leading the light on people understanding their blood pressure numbers so if needed they can take the steps needed to reduce it. This culminates each year with Know Your Numbers Week! in September, a week-long campaign with a range of partners for people to understand their blood pressure numbers with advice and guidance of how to make vital changes to their lifestyles to change it.
Our Team
Blood Pressure UK currently have a staff team of three (two who are part-time). We contract an external accounting company to provide financial services to the charity including annual accounts, monthly management accounts, payroll, invoice creation and book keeping, making sure the charity complies with relevant governance for the charity commission and companies house.
What we are looking for…
We are looking for a qualified accountant, either working or recently retired with ideally experience of charity financial processes but not essential.
You may have a connection either personally or through family and friends with high blood pressure but it’s not a prerequisite for the role. Your experience and enthusiasm are the key factors we are looking for.

The Iolanthe Midwifery Trust is a registered charity that aims to promote and improve the care of mothers, babies and families through awarding grants and fellowships in support of midwifery education, practice and research. Our aim is to reach more midwives and student midwives with our awards programme and need to look to increase and diversity our fundraising streams.
We need your fundraising skills, experiences and knowledge to help us drive this aim forward. You will sit on the board alongside our midwife and lay trustees and head up our Fundraising sub committee that feeds into the full board. You will work closely with our Executive Director
You will help us by
Taking the lead on the Board to oversee fundraising and to make sure it is carried out in legal, honest and accountable ways
Strategically assessing where fundraising fits in with our overall organisational strategy and to work with the Executive Director to ensure effective income generation is achieved
Contributing knowledge of fundraising techniques and strategies, understanding results and approving budgets
Networking on our behalf to solicit funds

L’Arche is a worldwide federation of people with and without learning disabilities, working together for a world where all belong. We believe in the transforming impact of genuinely mutual relationships between people with and without disabilities. We are looking for a new Treasurer and Trustee with professional financial experience to support L’Arche in an ongoing financial transformation project.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Treasurer’s responsibilities:
- Providing financial accountability and supporting the Finance Director.
- Helping other trustees to carry out their financial responsibilities by presenting reports in an accessible way.
- Signing the accounts and receiving the audit report.
- Presenting the accounts to the AGM.
- Chairing the Finance Sub-Committee, which leads the Board on financial accountability and strategy.
Jointly with other trustees:
- Ensure that L’Arche in the UK has a clear vision, mission, and strategy and is focused on achieving them.
- Be responsible for the performance of the Charity and its corporate behaviour.
- Ensure the L’Arche UK Charity complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Be a guardian of the Charity’s assets, both tangible and intangible, taking all due care over their security and proper use.
- Ensure the charity fulfils its purpose and aims.
- Use your specific skills, knowledge, and professional and lived experience in support of L’Arche.
- Inform yourself of the key responsibilities, expectations, and best practice for Charity Trustees as set out by the Charity Commission and others, and stay up to date with best practice in the sector.
Time Commitment
The Board typically meets five times a year, including the AGM. Some of the meetings are on video call, and others in person. Routine meetings are on a weekday afternoon, interspersed with full day sessions for strategy, and for meeting the L’Arche National Speaking Council (made up of members with learning disabilities). The Treasurer also chairs the Finance Sub-Committee which meets online for two hours four or five times a year. Board members are asked to cultivate some contact with L’Arche community life, and to find ways to build relationships in one or more of our local L’Arche Communities.
