Mavar is currently seeking a seasoned networker to join the Mavar Trustee Board as a Trustee with special responsibilities for strengthening our fundraising practice and broadening the charity’s donor base. Working with our Board and CEO, you’ll bring experience, insight and strategic guidance to help develop our fundraising capacity in support of the strategic development of the charity.

Trustee Role Details
The day-to-day operations of Mavar are conducted by staff and volunteers under the leadership of our CEO and with the overall oversight of the Trustee Board.
Main Duties of the Fundraising Trustee:
- Contribute to the overall governance of the charity as a member of the Board of Trustees.
- Provide advice and support on fundraising strategy, ensuring income generation is planned and executed in alignment with Mavar’s budget framework and objectives.
- Act as a fundraising champion on Mavar’s board, working with the CEO and supporting other trustees to explore fundraising possibilities.
- If you have personal networks with fundraising potential, utilise them to support the work of the charity.
- Support the development of diverse fundraising streams (e.g. individual giving, trusts and foundations, community fundraising, corporate support) and advise and support with appeals and major fundraising events/campaigns.
- Act as an ambassador for the charity, promoting its work and helping to raise its profile.
- Ensure compliance with fundraising regulation and best practice, as well as Mavar’s policies and procedures. You are expected to give at least one day per month to your role. Board meetings take place four times a year in London, with a mixture of online and in-person meetings and are complemented by occasional online or in-person feedback meetings with the CEO and the Treasurer.

Context: Mavar’s Service Users
Some men and women who have grown up in the closed world of the Charedi community hold personal and religious values that are not in line with the rest of the community. Attempts to follow their own path often bring them into direct confrontation with family, friends and neighbours who regard expressions of individualism or self-determination as heresy. These individuals fear that the community will ostracise them, leaving them feeling trapped, isolated and helpless.
Some may simply wish to explore options for obtaining a general education or improving their access to employment opportunities whilst wishing to remain within the ultra-orthodox community; others may look to divest themselves of the strictures of ultra-orthodoxy and to lead a more mainstream lifestyle. They all typically lack the everyday life skills to cope with the challenges of the secular world, which appears to them as a confusing, frightening and alien planet. Any effort to integrate with the outside, secular world is hampered by limited English language skills, cultural disorientation, lack of basic education or qualifications and negligible skills for employment.

White Ribbon UK is the leading charity in England and Wales working to engage men and boys in ending men’s violence against women and girls. We do this by challenging harmful attitudes, behaviours, and systems that allow gender-based violence to continue. We are seeking to recruit three new Board members to join our committed Board of Trustees. We are looking for candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
▪ Clinical Leadership with substantial leadership experience in NHS or charity trauma services;
▪ Transformation expertise at senior level, whether in a service context or a broader organisational setting;

Just Like Us is the LGBT+ young people’s charity. Growing up LGBT+ is still unacceptably tough. Founded in 2016, we work with schools across the UK to change this; empowering young people and teachers to champion LGBT+ equality.
We run programmes in schools across the UK:
● School Diversity Week and Resource Library: More than 7,000 primary and secondary schools are signed up to receive our free educational resources to help them celebrate in June every year
● Ambassadors and School talks: We train LGBT+ young people (18 to 25 year olds) to deliver relatable talks in secondary schools on allyship and growing up LGBT+
● Pride Groups: We help secondary schools and young leaders to set up a Pride Group for LGBT+ pupils and their allies; providing training, resources and 121 support

General Responsibilities

● Review board papers and attend board meetings (minimum of 4 times a year)

Specific Responsibilities

● Ensure that effective and appropriate financial procedures and controls are in place

● Work with the CEO to produce our annual accounts and budget forecasts, and be a key point of contact during the annual audit of accounts
● Act as a counter signatory for online banking and applications to funders

- Influencing / Campaigning - We are seeking experience and ambition that will help us influence policy and industry practices through the development of relatinships with policymakers, travel and tourism industry and media etc. Also shape campaigns, raise awareness, drive systemic change and support advocacy strategies to remove barriers for families.
- Digital Transformation - We wish to evolve and develop our digital strategy and technology adoption. A key priority is to ensure our digital growth is considered and aligns with accessibility and security.
Your Skills and Contribution
You'll need:
- Strategic vision, independent judgement, and an ability to think creatively.
- A proactive attitude, willing to bring new ideas and perspectives to our Board, and confident about challenging decisions, where necessary, in the best interests of the charity.
- Willingness to understand and take on the duties and responsibilities of trusteeship.
- Commitment to the charity and our mission, and the ability to devote the necessary time and effort to do the role well.
The Commitment
We’ll ask you to participate in four two-hour Board Meetings per year, typically in person at our office in London or remotely.We also get together for a Strategy Day in September/October, which is held on a weekday in London, and you’d need to attend that in person.
We can support with any access needs for in-person meetings.,
There are two Board sub-committees- one which focuses on our Finances and Risk, and one which considers our people (Trustees and Staff). Once you’ve settled into the role, most Trustees join one of them. They meet remotely around four times a year.
Outside of formal meetings, you’ll be warmly encouraged to get to know the staff team, and attend fundraising events
or other events to meet referrers, families, and supporters wherever possible.
Overall, you’ll need to be able to commit around 6 hours each month for a mix of meetings and events, contributing
your skills and perspective to projects, building your knowledge of the charity and developing as a Trustee.

Volunteer Trustee (Secretary Role)
Location: Kent- however this role can be done virtually.
Time Commitment: Around 3–5 hours per month
Reporting to: The Board of Trustees
About the Role:
We’re a charity supporting young people and families through grief, loss, and emotional wellbeing. As our Secretary, you’ll be the organised heartbeat of the board, keeping everything running smoothly, making sure meetings are well-structured, and helping us stay on top of our legal and admin responsibilities.
You don’t need to have charity admin experience — just good organisational skills, a bit of tech confidence, and a passion for helping young people heal and thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
Meetings & Records

Arrange trustee meetings (usually every 1–2 months) and make sure everyone has the agenda and papers in advance.

Take clear minutes and track action points so nothing slips through the cracks.

Keep an organised record of all meetings, decisions, and official documents.
Governance & Compliance

Help ensure the charity meets its legal requirements with the Charity Commission.

Maintain up-to-date trustee contact details and declarations of interest.

Support the Chair and Treasurer with key governance documents like policies, annual returns, and reports.
Communication & Coordination

Be the main point of contact for trustee communication — keeping everyone in the loop.

Aching Arms is recruiting a committed and experienced Treasurer to oversee the charity’s financial affairs and support the Board in ensuring long-term sustainability, transparency, and compliance. As Treasurer, you will play a central part in strengthening our financial stewardship.
