We are looking for an organised, experienced, and proactive Fundraising Officer to drive income generation at ELR. This exciting new role will be key in securing essential capital and revenue funds to support all areas of our work, from restoring historic locomotives and repairing bridges and viaducts to supporting education projects in our Transport Museum and covering day-to-day operational costs.
In this role, you will raise the profile of fundraising across the organisation and work closely with colleagues, volunteers, and the Board to increase income from diverse sources, including trusts and foundations, individuals, corporations, and statutory bodies.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator and a self-starter, eager to develop and lead new fundraising initiatives with a keen eye for detail. As an enthusiastic ambassador for our work, you will build our supporter base and clearly convey the impact of ELR to potential partners and stakeholders. You should have strong experience in building fundraising relationships, managing administration, and creating compelling content for various marketing channels (social media, website, crowdfunding, print, etc.).
This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the fundraising strategy for a leading North West visitor attraction and heritage site. With significant potential to explore new fundraising avenues, accelerate activity, and foster a visible culture of philanthropy, this role offers great scope for professional growth.
The position is initially for two years, with a review after 18 months and the potential to transition into a permanent, full-time role upon the successful achievement of key objectives.
There are four criteria that will disqualify applicants, so please only apply if you meet all of the following requirements:
- At least three years of fundraising experience.
- Experience securing funding from various sources, including trusts, foundations, corporations, individuals, and government bodies.
- Experience providing excellent stewardship and relationship management with supporters.
- Experience conducting prospect research to identify potential supporters.

Remuneration package:
Salary range: £27,000 - £30,000, depending on experience.

Good Journey promotes car-free travel to visitor attractions and venues across the UK – cutting traffic and widening access to leisure, nature and culture. We are an independent social enterprise, supported by leading transport and environment groups.
Our website provides car-free travel directions and discounts to over 500 attractions across the UK - including all five RHS Gardens and over 50 National Trust and English Heritage sites. We have also helped Blenheim Palace increase car-free visitors from 5,000 to 64,000 a year.
We are a membership organisation for visitor attractions and tourism businesses. We advise our members on improving and promoting green travel options and award them the Good Journey Mark. We also work in partnership with national organisations and local authorities to grow car-free leisure travel.
We now want to build on our success, by expanding our membership and partnerships – to cut carbon and transform UK leisure travel. That’s where you come in!
About the role
We’re looking for an experienced manager and strategist to help us grow our income and impact. You will have a proven track record of running social enterprises or charities, managing staff and boosting income.
You will manage the development of Good Journey, including:
- Setting the business strategy, goals and targets
- Securing income from partnerships and grants
- Managing a small, dedicated, home-based team
You will be assisted by Founder Nat Taplin, who has led Good Journey since the launch in 2018 and will provide expertise on car-free travel.
You’ll be working from home 3-4 days a week. You will need to travel for some meetings. We support flexible working and have a strong ethos of work-life balance.
Salary is negotiable, depending on experience, in line with the non-profit sector. We also offer a pension scheme.
Start date will be Spring 2025, by agreement.

WithYou are recruiting for a Head of Service Delivery, to help us improve outcomes for people who use our services. We are a drug, alcohol and mental health support charity and with over 80 services across England and Scotland, we provide free and confidential support and advice to more than 100,000 people a year.
This role will lead our Wigan and Leigh service, which provides support to adults and young people facing challenges with drugs and alcohol. The service is across two sites based in Wigan and Leigh, along with recovery within a farm/cafe setting. This is a varied role, with the aim of driving the delivery of one of our sector leading integrated Drug and Alcohol services. As a Head of Service Delivery, you will provide clear direction, accountability and leadership to deliver services which improve outcomes and radically improve the chances of people getting better. As well as this, you will be:
- Working closely with clinical colleagues, ensure consistently high standards of service are delivered across the organisation
- Leading and performance managing your service against internal and external key performance indicators and meet or exceed regulator requirements
- Building leadership capability across the team and select, motivate and develop a team of managers to fulfil their potential as leaders of service delivery
- Collaborating across your region to contribute to and use the resources of the wider team in helping services deliver
- Providing in-person visible leadership within the service being physically present in service
Working with a range of stakeholders, this is an opportunity for a proactive and influential individual to deliver outstanding performance across your services. By building a strategic business plan for your services, you will ensure that our commissioners are confident and excited by our provision.

We are looking for an individual with exceptional operational skill - you will be someone who enjoys putting strategies in place and thrives off ensuring successful service delivery. You will be confident when dealing with a variety of tasks, including those in need of a swift resolution and should be able to build meaningful working relationships quickly with both internal and external stakeholders.
