As a Fundraising Volunteer you’ll assist with fundraising events and collections throughout the year, as and when you can.

You’ll engage with members of the public and use your knowledge of your local area to promote the work of Ty Hafan.

By becoming a fundraising volunteer, you'll help us raise essential funds for children with life-shortening conditions and their families.

Activities include:

• Take part in our bucket collections throughout the year in town/city centres, supermarkets, shopping centres and other venues. You'll be added to our mailing list and receive occasional emails throughout the year with information about upcoming volunteering opportunities. • Use your knowledge of your local area to place collection tins in your community, visiting the premises on a regular basis and count and bank the money on our behalf

• You will promote Ty Hafan fundraising events and campaigns in your community (for example Tea for Ty Hafan) and encourage others to register to hold their own tea party

•You will encourage local community groups and organisations to support and fundraise for Ty Hafan, using your existing networks and knowledge of your community

• You will work closely with the Regional Fundraiser to maximise all opportunities within your area

Our People Team is looking for a volunteer to help enhance the efficiency and accuracy of people-related processes related to data. By ensuring the secure and organised management of confidential documents, you will play a vital role in reinforcing compliance and safeguarding our ways of working.

What will you be doing

The Volunteer will assist with various People activity, including:

• Being a critical eye in reviewing and updating existing people-related processes and documentation to maintain and increase compliance and accuracy.
• Managing and documenting confidential and sensitive mail delivered for the People Team at the Bristol office; this can include Criminal Record Certificates, Access to Work information as well as Deduction of Payment Orders from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
• Ensuring compliance with data protection regulations when dealing with sensitive information.
• Supporting the HR Coordinators with general people-related tasks that contribute to organisational efficiency.
• Assisting with aspects of our recent SharePoint migration, ensuring documents are properly organised, categorised, and maintained in line with best practices.
• Supporting the People Team with the new ways of working in relation to GDPR admin, ensuring historic records are updated, cleansed and compliant with data protection requirements.

Your availability

Ideally, you are in the Bristol area as it would make it easier for you to volunteer with us at our Bristol office, although we can discuss this.

We’d like you to join the team for up to 12 months, with the possibility of extending it further.

However, we are flexible and open to chat about how much time you can commit to the role. Your enthusiasm and expertise are important to us, and we appreciate your insights into what will be needed.

This role is primarily remote, with the option of making use of our Bristol office.

 The goals of Community Connections are:

• To link individuals with, and affected by, MS throughout Wales and the South West of England (including Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire, and Wiltshire) to services, activities, and resources that promote living well with MS.
• To establish connections with local service providers that enable people with, and affected by, MS to access support and activities in their communities, while enhancing community connections.
• To offer information and guidance on various topics, including financial advice, cost of living information, energy efficiency tips, carbon monoxide awareness, and the Priority Service Register.

 As part of this initiative, we are seeking a Community Connections Volunteer to assist in directing people affected by MS to information about relevant local and national services. This could involve helping someone access information on benefits or supporting them with grant applications. This role will be conducted from home, providing assistance over the phone and via email.

 Here’s a summary of what the role entails:

• Guiding individuals to sources of support, such as our Living Well services, Helpline, health and social services, MS professionals, and local group activities.
• Referring any complex support needs to our Community Connections project team or Helpline.
• Occasionally assisting individuals who need help with grant applications and gathering necessary paperwork.
• Communicating relevant information to our Community Connections Project Administrator to maintain and update our service signposting lists.
• Staying in contact with referrals to ensure they are progressing with the support provided.
• Listening to and gathering feedback on the service as individuals conclude their involvement with the Community Connections project.

We will provide you with the necessary training and support to develop the skills required for this role, including an induction covering all outlined areas. Please note the role requires a DBS Check.
