About the role
The Writer role sits within the Communications Team, which in turn sits within the wider Department of Communications and Fundraising. You’ll work under the guidance of a Creative Content Manager and alongside a Senior Designer & Videographer.
Your role will never be dull as you take on the task of crafting the compelling stories we tell our supporters about the work that they make possible. Whether working on print magazines or digital resources, content for churches or our weekly email newsletter, you’ll play a vital part in the story-gathering and story-telling aspects of our major appeals and communications work.
About you
You will love stories. More importantly, you will have a care and concern for the people who own the stories we have the privilege to tell. As a confident writer, you’ll be interested in messaging and writing for impact. And you’ll understand how to tailor the stories you hear into content that engages your audience, whether that be a magazine subscriber, first-time donor or church volunteer.
You’ll enjoy juggling a variety of tasks in a busy environment and thrive on building relationships both within and outside the organisation. Ideally, you will have experience setting up, conducting and writing up interviews with individuals from international backgrounds and will have played a part in the creation of campaigns or appeals within a charity setting.

About the role
We have a new opportunity for a Senior Business Development Officer to join Sustrans. In this pivotal role, you'll support Sustrans’ commercial strategy by leading and improving our competitive bidding process and delivering high-quality business development support across the organisation.
Key responsibilities will include:

About you
As an excellent communicator, you work well with other people and develop strong relationships.
You have experience of working in business development or a relevant setting. You have previously developed successful funding bids and competitive tenders. You work well with others, identifying new opportunities and gaps in the market. You coordinate activities using an established process - holding people to account and meeting deadlines. Your copy is of a high standard and you are confident reviewing others' work. You have a proactive mindset with a focus on quality, impact, and continuous improvement.
Previous experience of working in this area isn't a necessity. If you are well-organised, with an eye for detail, and work well with others - we'd welcome an application from you.

Your role in summary • As part of a proactive team, you will produce excellent, creative written content that captivates and motivates hospice supporters, donors, customers, staff and volunteers. • Support our communications output, both digital and physical: covering our events, shops, stories and ongoing campaigns. • Capture and convey stories that reflect the diversity of our hospice stakeholders, showcasing the positive impact that the community’s support has on our hospice care. This will include writing about fundraisers, volunteers and staff, as well as people who benefit from our care or support. • Using your skillset, understand the tone and message to use in our content in line with our hospice values and brand. • Support the delivery of our fundraising and shops’ social media activity. Working alongside colleagues, produce effective content delivered through the main hospice and shop channels to encourage supporters to shop, donate or register for events. This will require effective forward planning and hands-on creation of visual (video/still) and written content. • As required, provide design support/delivery in relation to fundraising, trading and general hospice posters, flyers and digital content. • Ensure hospice artwork is accurate and on-brand. Ensure that content adheres to brand guidelines, bringing your ideas and experience to protect our hospice and fundraising brands, whilst keeping it fresh. • Help coordinate and update any changes to our website (specific platform training provided) • Ensure our Digital Screens are fresh and accurate, showcasing relevant hospice activity. • Help share relevant social media across appropriate community groups, providing timely responses to comments. • As required, dive into our CRM/Database system to understand, profile, and personalise communications. As our communications officer, you will join our communications and marketing team. Part of our external relations division, the team play an essential role, crafting engaging communications that help achieve our mission and supporting colleagues across the charity to do the same.
This role is perfect for a creative comms professional with a passion for writing and storytelling. Through compelling and strategic communications, you’ll help raise awareness of Frontline’s mission, attract supporters, influence public perception, demonstrate our impact and promote our vital work.
