Hours: 36 hours per week (full time), Monday to Friday with occasional weekend working required
Croydon Health & Wellbeing Space (CHWS) is an exciting and dynamic service, run in partnership with Mind in Croydon and Croydon BME Forum and commissioned by South London and Maudsley Mental Health Service (SLaM). The CHWS opened in 2022 with the aim of providing advice, information, and specialist support to Croydon residents with mental health concerns, who drop-in, or have been referred to the via the local Integrated Care Network Plus multi-disciplinary clinical and community mental health support teams.
The Advice Worker will be part of a friendly team, including crisis workers and clinical mental health professionals and function as the first point of access for visitors to the CHWS. Following an initial conversation to ascertain the clients’ needs, the Advice Worker will provide information and advice, as well as signposting and referrals to specialist services, such as the Mental Health Personal Independence Co-ordinators, Social Prescribers and Community Link Workers, in addition to the wider voluntary and statutory services in the borough. The role will be fast paced and vary each day offering a fantastic opportunity for the postholder to develop their knowledge and skills and make a difference to the users of this service.

The Destitution Caseworker is a full-time post at the JRS UK offices in Wapping with regular visits to our houses in South London. The post-holder will be joining the Advice and Casework Team, a small and diverse team of Caseworkers, Befriending and Practical Support Coordinator and volunteers.
The Advice and Casework Team provides refugee friend led advice and casework, supported by the practical offering of hardship payments, regular mobile phone top-ups, and befriending. We also provide temporary accommodation through our hosting scheme 'At Home’ which has operated since 2012. Additionally, we also offer support through our 10- bedroom house for women and 6 – bedroom house for men in South London.
This role is busy and varied, with a focus on combining accompaniment with advice and practical support and assistance particularly to those in our accommodation project. The postholder will provide in-depth and proactive support on a broad range of issues including destitution and homelessness; access to legal advice; asylum support and health related matters. The postholder will utilise relationships with NGOs and specialist agencies, signposting and making referrals as appropriate.
They will be responsible for managing their own caseload and will support with the smooth running of the accommodation project and other aspects of the wider team.
The postholder should have a good working knowledge and empathy of the issues and challenges faced by destitute asylum-seekers and refugees, with particular focus on destitution, homelessness and access to immigration advice. They will need highly developed listening skills, personal resilience, and emotional maturity to respond to the emotional and practical needs of asylum seekers, accompany them and support them to positively progress with their lives. They need to have and maintain an up-to-date knowledge about the immigration and asylum context as it relates to our work with destitute refugees.
The Destitution Caseworker will be enthusiastic about working in a small faith-based organisation and have a willingness to integrate JRS UK’s ethos of accompaniment in their approach whilst also demonstrating sensitivity in responding to the needs of individuals facing destitution. They will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and possess excellent communication skills and will adhere to JRS’ values and commitment to social justice and tackling racism and discrimination. They will work flexibly as a member of the team and organisation and undertake other reasonable duties and responsibilities as needed.
Role Specific Responsibilities
Accommodation:
• Preparing needs assessments and inducting guests and residents.
• Facilitating matching meetings and providing ongoing support during placements including review meetings.
• Coordinating food grants for accommodated refugee friends.
• Being the main point of contact and a supportive presence, providing basic advice and casework support for guests and residents.
• Support with coordinating the move-on process from hosting and housing as appropriate.
• Support hosts and other volunteers including assisting with coordinating and facilitating volunteer meetings.
• Support the facilitating of monthly house meetings and activities.
• Proactively identify and respond to risks and health and safety issues, escalating as appropriate.
• Promptly flagging any housing maintenance issues
• Take part in the on-call rota.
• Travelling within London to visit host homes, as well as the properties in South London. Some evening and weekend work is required, but time in lieu will be provided.
General Advice and Casework Support:
• Identify, register, and assess needs of individuals seeking support
• Provide information, advice, and support to individuals on a range of issues including homelessness, access to legal advice, destitution, and asylum support.
• Identify, prioritise and provide pro-active advice and casework support to individuals requiring ongoing support.
• Facilitate access to services and support for individuals through signposting, referrals and ongoing advocacy where appropriate.
• Ensure hardship provisions are distributed, and resources utilised in line with policies, guidance and procedures.
• Maintain and develop positive working relationships and referral pathways with relevant statutory and third sector partners.

This may be through the telephone helpline or through an advocate working directly with a child, for instance, to support them at a review meeting or to help them make a complaint about their care. Coram Voice provides visiting advocacy services to most of the secure units nationally, to Secure Training Centres, Juvenile Young Offender Institutions, psychiatric hospitals, residential special schools and children’s homes.
· A National Helpline to provide access for children and young people to advocacy and advice, with access to legal advice and links with other national services.
· Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA) to advocate for young people as qualifying patients under the Mental Health Act, in order to fully support them to get their views heard in matters relating to their mental health.
· Independent Visitor services offers a child or young person in care an adult volunteer who provides independent, one-to-one visiting, advice and befriending support. Our independent visitors can become the only long-term, consistent source of support throughout a young person's time in care.
· Independent services provide independent person services for complaints by children and for reviewing whether children should be locked up in secure units on welfare grounds.
· Policy and campaigning to create a better system for all children and young people looked after by the state, for their care to be more child-centred and to give young people a greater say in decisions about their lives.
· Participation services to ensure children and young people have a voice in the development and delivery of services and campaigns, and through the process, provide the opportunity to develop relevant skills which will be of benefit to them in their future lives.
· Training, development and information for young people, advocates and child care workers, offering courses in advocacy, children’s rights and child-centred practice across a range of areas including the National Advocacy Qualification.
About the Role
You will co-ordinate and deliver a statutory independent visitor service to children and young people in care or care leavers of London.
You will recruit, assess and train volunteers to become independent visitors, who are volunteer befrienders to children and young people looked after or care leavers. You will manage a cash flow to fund suitable activities for independent visitors to enjoy with the young person. You will manage data and reporting for this statutory service so that service leads and other stakeholders can understand the activity in the service.
We are a child led service, you will not act outside of the young person’s instructions (except in matters of child protection and safety.) You will build strong relationships with the child or young person, independent visitors and other significant adults, you will support Independent Visitors to develop long term, meaningful friendships with the young person.
You will work in partnership with other parts of the service, organisation and external agencies and professionals. This is to ensure there are pathways to attract and retain Independent Visitors in the area and sometimes out of area.

Duties and Key Responsibilites
Sarcoma UK’s research programme
- To support Sarcoma UK’s grant application processes under guidance from the Research Manager. This will include calls for proposals, identifying expert peer reviewers, administering a high-quality peer and lay review process, communication with applicants and potential applicants, administration of grant awards and supporting patient involvement.
- To provide support to the Grant Review Panel and Research Strategy Committee, including organising meetings and preparing minutes.
- To manage Sarcoma UK’s portfolio of active research grants, under guidance from the Research Manager. This will include use of grant management software for administration of newly awarded grants, monitoring progress of current grants, oversight of grant finances and reporting on final outputs.
- To support opportunities for patient involvement within the research programme, including managing a network of lay reviewers and facilitating new opportunities, with support from the Involvement and Volunteering Coordinator.
- To support new developments in Sarcoma UK’s research programme, including organising and attending events, collaborative funding calls and initiatives to support early career researchers.
Research Impact and Communications
- To monitor and gather outputs and long-term impact of research grants funded by Sarcoma UK and support in ensuring these are shared with internal and external audiences.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic & Operational Leadership
· Lead the day-to-day running and strategic direction of the charity in line with the Board’s vision.
· Develop, manage, and oversee the charity's resources and workstreams.

· Support the Board with fundraising strategy and financial accountability, including financial forecasting and reporting to funders.
2. Programme Management & Delivery

· Drive the delivery and expansion of our core programmes, including the Physical Activities (Walk & Talks, Sports Hubs), Volunteer Engagement, Community Partnerships and the Personal Wellbeing Plans (PWP)18.
· Develop and implement the Marauders Pathway Programme to establish a culture of good citizenship and peer support.
3. People & Volunteer Management
· Provide leadership, support, and development for staff, managing issues such as payroll, sickness, and holidays.
· Oversee the Volunteer Co-ordinator to develop a comprehensive volunteer management process, including recruitment, training, and 'Reward & Recognition’.
· Help inspire 100 men to give back to the community through volunteering.
4. Partnerships & IT Development
· Maintain and forge new community partnerships (e.g. with voluntary organisations, NGO’s, other charities and social enterprises) to enhance volunteering, education, and wellbeing services.
· Spearhead the development of our IT Platform, focusing on a robust website and a Beneficiary Management System (CRM) for efficient reporting, data capture, and engagement.
· Oversee digital marketing and communications, including newsletters and social media content.

One in 20 adults in the UK has never learnt to read at all. This can have a serious impact on their confidence and wellbeing, limiting access to training, employment, and everyday opportunities that many take for granted. Being unable to read as an adult can be isolating and dangerous, reinforces social inequality, restricts economic growth, and worsens intergenerational disadvantage - but it is never too late to learn.
Read Easy helps adults transform their lives by learning to read. It does this by supporting its growing network of locally run, volunteer-led affiliated groups that offer free, confidential, one-to-one reading coaching—both in person and online to adults - aged from 18-88.
With its free, flexible, confidential approach, Read Easy encourages people who are too embarrassed to join a class to come forward for one-to-one support. Each new reader is provided with their own personal Reading Coach, so that they can learn in private and at their own pace. Learning to read transforms their lives in many other ways as well, including enabling them to support their children’s and grandchildren’s reading, and so transfers the benefits to the next generation.
There are currently 80 affiliated Read Easy groups across England, together involving more than a thousand volunteers. Read Easy UK is the registered charity and umbrella organisation which supports this network of affiliated volunteer groups and provides the structure, training and support to enable volunteers to establish groups in new areas.
As our North Regional Adviser, your role would be to provide strategic leadership, guidance, and oversight to ensure that all volunteer groups in your region consistently deliver high-quality services aligned with Read Easy UK’s strategy.
You will support local volunteer leaders to strengthen group performance, and foster collaboration across affiliated groups, so that that they deliver coaching to Readers with consistent quality, and a positive and worthwhile experience is had by all.
You will also find volunteers to ‘pioneer’ four new groups in the counties where there is no Read Easy presence and provide them and our 17 existing groups and pioneers in the region, with high-quality support. Your quality support will ensure that they provide the same for their volunteers and new Readers. From meeting (mostly online) with Team Leaders to provide one to one support, and hosting online and annual in-person volunteer forums, to delivering presentations and occasional training for small groups of volunteers, this is a dynamic and rewarding role.
This is a home-based post requiring flexibility, some early evening working and occasional travel to visit groups. The role is available on a part time basis (22.5 hours p/w, 60% of 37.5 hours p/w FTE).
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Live within one of the following areas: York, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire or Greater Manchester (Due to the location of our groups in the region, and to ensure efficient travel);
- have been employed to work with volunteers for at least two years;
- have strong people management and interpersonal skills; excellent communication skills; and the confidence to run meetings and deliver presentations.

Unfold is an established local charity supporting young people and families to reach their potential by identifying and achieving their goals through mentoring. We support families and young people in Westminster and its neighbouring boroughs through mentoring programmes and peer support groups for women with children.

We’re looking for a Development Co-ordinator to help shape and deliver a vibrant programme for older Nepalese women (50+) in Greenwich. This is a hands-on role focused on improving health and wellbeing, reducing isolation, and strengthening access to community and mainstream services.

We’re seeking an experienced charity leader to work with our partner charities, Lintel Trust in Scotland and Lifting Lives in England & Wales.
As an experienced, motivated charity leader you will drive LHCPGs charitable aspirations through working with our partner charities, Lintel Trust in Scotland and Lifting Lives in England and Wales, so helping us deliver meaningful community benefit across the UK.
In this central role, that will require some travel as you attend meetings in Edinburgh and Uxbridge offices, you will ensure governance, lead strategic development, build partnerships, and support and facilitate fundraising and operational activity, ensuring our charitable work continues to improve lives and places.
What You’ll Do
- Lead governance, statutory compliance, and Trustee support across both Trusts.
- Work with Trustees to develop charity strategies, policies, and risk management frameworks.
- Support the grant-making and reporting processes, ensuring high-quality delivery.
- Build strong partnerships and represent the Trusts at events and sector forums.
- Drive fundraising and income generation to expand charitable impact.
- Oversee marketing, digital presence, and communications.
- Line manage the Charities Liaison Coordinator and foster a collaborative team culture.
What You Need
- Strong knowledge of charity regulation (OSCR and/or Charity Commission).
- Experience running or overseeing a charity and working with Trustees.
- Proven fundraising, grant assessment, and budget management experience.
- Excellent communication, report writing and relationship-building skills.
- Experience in marketing, events and digital content management.
- Understanding of social value, housing issues, and community-focused work.
- Desirable: public sector/housing experience and degree-level qualification.

We are recruiting for an Out of School Childcare Leader to join our Out of School Childcare team. The role is for a Fixed Term Contract until July 2026.
You will be responsible for leading and delivering a programme of Ofsted registered Breakfast and After School Clubs, offering a range of free play opportunities as well as structured programmes. The post holder will lead a team of playworkers and volunteers, to ensure that the service provided is of high quality and appropriate for the varying children who attend.
This role requires someone with Level 2/3 qualification in childcare, play work or equivalent or be willing to undertake this level of training upon employment.
You must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working in a childcare setting.
Working Hours: 25 hours per week, Monday-Friday 7.15am to 9am and 2.45pm to 6pm Term time only with optional role in holidays.
Applications can be considered as a mixture of a job share for doing Breakfast and After School Clubs or just doing Breakfast Club only or Afterschool Club only.

Key responsibilities:
·To lead the delivery of St Joseph’s Breakfast and After School Club.
·To work with individual children to offer a range of free play opportunities, as well as a structured programme of social, play and leisure activities to the varying ages and needs of the children attending the service
·To build trusting relationships with parents and families, checking that we have the correct information about the children that attend and ensuring that children are collected by authorised people only.
·To ensure that parents and carers are kept informed of incidents/accidents or other issues relating to their children.
·To work with the Out of School Childcare team to help promote the YMCA schemes so that attendance figures reach agreed targets in line with budgets. This includes sending weekly photos of children with the appropriate consent to the team.
·To ensure that all practices within the setting adhere to the Safeguarding Children policy, as well as meeting OFSTED requirements, so that the service offered is of a safe and high standard.
·To be responsible for the health and safety of children attending all sessions, including carrying out risk assessments and ensuring risk assessment checklists are completed daily.
·To ensure that resources are well looked after, and to inform the OOSC Senior Coordinator if extra resources are required.
·To ensure that appropriate care plans and risk assessments are carried out for children with additional needs and for those on the EYFS register.
·Where necessary, to administer First Aid for children who have had an accident, as well as medication for children with health issues, ensuring appropriate training has been completed beforehand.
·To ensure that all children and young people are made to feel valued and enabled to develop and improve self-esteem self-confidence and positive experiences.
·To lead a team of playworkers and volunteers, and to ensure that the service provided is of high quality and appropriate for the varying children who attend.
·When the OSCC Senior Coordinator is not available, to act as the responsible person in charge of the setting.
·To be flexible in order to meet the needs of service, including when required also working at other Y-Kids Afterschool clubs to help provide cover.
·Undertake any other duties and responsibilities reasonably requested by the OOSC Senior Coordinator and/or Childcare and children’s activities Senior Manager.

The Role
The Operations Manager is a pivotal leadership position designed to bridge the gap between the CEO’s strategic vision and the frontline delivery of services.
- You’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of the Brent Carers Centre, ensuring that information, advice, and respite activities are delivered to the highest standard.
- You’ll act as the lead for Safeguarding and GDPR, ensuring all staff follow best practices and that the centre remains a safe, confidential space for vulnerable residents.
- You’ll manage the CRM and data reporting systems, translating daily activities into "impact stories" and performance metrics for the Board of Trustees and local commissioners (Brent Council/NHS).
- You’ll provide direct line management to a diverse team, including Advice Officers, Counselling Coordinator and the Volunteer Co-ordinator.
- You’ll manage staff resources to make sure that our service remains responsive and empathetic.
- You’ll make sure the physical office environment is fit for purpose, managing health and safety, equipment, and IT infrastructure.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a "hands-on" leader who combines operational grit with a deep-seated passion for social justice and carer rights.
Essential Experience
- You’ll have a track record of managing teams and operations within a charity, health, or social care setting.
- You’ll possess a working knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and of providing or managing advice and information services and the specific challenges faced by unpaid carers.
- You’ll be "tech-literate” and will be comfortable using databases (CRMs) and proficient in using a range of Microsoft software.
- You’ll be a strong communicator and will be able able to build rapport with a range of stakeholders
- You don’t just manage processes; you care about people. You align with our mission to ensure carers are "recognised, valued, and supported to live rather than just exist."
