At Bank Green, our mission is to lower this vast carbon footprint via technology and consumer action. We empower bank customers with the tools and insights they need to influence their banks towards sustainable lending, or switch to greener alternatives. To date, our bank-checking tool has been used over 500,000 times by bank customers worldwide, while we have shifted at least £40m towards banks who are financing a greener future. Role Overview

As our Philanthropy Lead, you will play a pivotal role in powering our mission by identifying, cultivating, and stewarding high-value donors who share our vision for systemic change. Beyond major gifts, you'll help shape a thoughtful and inclusive supporter journey to create meaningful engagement opportunities for a broader community of donors, including legacy givers, mid-level supporters, and monthly contributors. You'll ensure our communications open clear pathways to connection and action. Volunteering for Sense

Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales.  Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers

The Senior Researcher in an Initial Research Team is the operational lead for one
particular project at a time, they will work with the Research Manager and within
the Initial Research Framework in order to plan and execute the research. At the
conclusion of research projects the Senior Researcher is responsible for providing
an accurate research report which allows for consideration as to what happens
next with the research inline with our organisation's purpose.The role of Senior
Researcher is key in our organisation's progress and overall positive output as it is
the starting point for all of our work. It is therefore important Senior Researchers
are committed and capable.

Responsibilities may include:

• To oversee and take part in the planning and execution of initial research projects

• To supervise a team of approximately 4 research volunteers, delegating and creating tasks according to the research plan

• To work with and support the Research Manager, ensuring task coordination across platforms such as ClickUp and a high level of communication across the team 

• To ensure outputs such as literature reviews and surveys are completed to the highest standard possible, in line with ethical considerations if relevant

• To comply with and advise on using the OSCOLA referencing system

• To organise analysis of Freedom of Information request data sets

• To collaborate with the rest of the team and the RM to provide an internal research report at the end of the research project, including a summary and key recommendations for next steps

The Prison Reform Trust Trustees play a vital role in making sure that we achieve our core purpose. Our Trustees oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that the Prison Reform Trust has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the executive team to enable the Prison Reform Trust to grow and thrive, and through this, work towards our mission to create a fair, humane and effective justice system. Board members have a collective responsibility. This means that Trustees act as a group and not as individuals.

Duties of PRT trustees include;

• Support and provide advice on the Prison Reform Trust’s purpose, vision, goals and activities.

• Approve operational strategies and policies and monitor and evaluate their implementation.

• Oversee the Prison Reform Trust’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.

• Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.

• Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.

• Review and approve the Prison Reform Trust’s financial statements.

The Prison Reform Trust is lookging for a new Treasurer, to maintain an overview of the Prison Reform Trust’s financial affairs. The Treasurer ensures that effective and appropriate financial measures, controls and procedures are put in place and reports to the Board at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation.

The Treasurer’s responsibilities are as follows:

1. Chairing the quarterly finance and fundraising subcommittee meetings, which includes regular reviews of; a. Financial statements (cash flow, management accounts — forecasts and budgets) b. Investments c. Financial management policies d. Risk register e. Fundraising progress f. IT function and security

2. Acting as signatory on bank accounts and on fundraising applications as needed (e.g. for National Lottery funding).

3. Liaising with external auditor through a meeting at audit time and as needed.

4. Overseeing the presentation of budgets, internal management accounts and annual financial statements to the Board of Trustees.

5. Ensuring that proper accounting records are kept, and that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place and support the development of policies covering financial reserves, and cost management.

6. Ensure accounts are as required by relevant statutory bodies, for example, the Charity Commission and/or the Registrar of Companies.

7. Monitoring and advising on the financial viability of the charity and ensuring investments and assets are maximised.

8. Perform additional duties and checks as tasked by the full board and/or report back to the full board on financial governance issues.

9. Advising on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plan, including overseeing the charity’s financial risk-management process.

10. Keeping the board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities and liaising with the Chief Executive to develop the financial understanding of the Board of Trustees. In addition to the above, the Treasurer will also have the responsibilities and qualities of all trustees.

Items in the lending library need a lot of care to keep them in good working order. All electrical items need PAT testing and all items need to be checked to see if they work.

Responsibilities: You would check over items for any damage and also that they work when they come in. Ideally the item carer would also be a trained PAT tester so that they can PAT test items when they are donated (we can also train you if you need).

Skills required: Experience of working with various tools including power tools. Experience of PAT testing or willingness to learn. Basic electrical skills. Any expertise in repairing, either electrical or mechanical, would also be beneficial.

Time commitment: Ideally you could commit to coming in to the shop once a week Saturday (10am-12noon). This could be flexible though. We also need reserves who are happy to be contacted as and when we need someone to step in.

We are seeking new Trustees and a new Chair to join our committed and dynamic Board.

We have a group of committed Trustees who support and guide the organisation in delivering its key objectives. Sadly, some of those trustees are due to step down in the next twelve months, as is the Chair, and we are beginning a process of recruiting new Trustees and a Chair.

There is excitement and expectation within the current Board and our Executive Team that along with our supporters and partners, we can achieve something special over the coming years.

To reach our potential though, requires the highest level of governance and strategic decision making, which can only be achieved with a talented, experienced and diverse Board of Trustees.

About The Role

The Aviculture department is pleased to offer the opportunity for students to apply to complete their 100 hour work experience requirements within our specialist team. 

In this role you will be assisting the Living Collections - Aviculture team in all aspects of caring for the birds in our living collection which includes rare and endangered species of wildfowl from around the world.

We have 5 placements available throughout June, July, August and September. This opportunity is designed for you to complete your 100 hours within 6 weeks by volunteering for 2 or 3 days per week.

Someone with a background in animal care will find this a varied and interesting role within a supportive and experienced team.  The role is also an ideal placement for someone looking to gain practical experience in animal care / biology / ecology or conservation science. 

Candidates will be identified, chosen and allocated following an informal interview.

You must be Over 18 to apply for this role. 

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need. 

About You

Candidates need to have a genuine appreciation for wildfowl and a knowledge of WWT and what we stand for.

Communication is the key to good teamwork, and bird husbandry volunteers will need to demonstrate exceptional communication skills in order to join our team.

· Shadowing bird feeding according to best practice guidelines.

· Assisting with bird catches and movements.

· Maintenance of pens and breeding facilities.

· An induction in bio-security and best practice care.

· Experience communicating with the visiting public.

· The potential for research experience and censoring techniques.

· The potential for experience in bird habitat and exhibit design.

BloodForce

We work in Ghana to eliminate the burden of blood acquisition on providers and patients in crisis by leveraging technology to galvanize the public to increase Ghana’s Blood Collection Index to greater than 10 by 2030, because no patient in crisis should die from unavailability of blood products.

Ghana at 5.6 per 1000 population, is significantly behind WHO minimum standard [10 per 1,000 population] required to meet a country’s basic transfusion needs. As a result, restrictive blood disbursement policies have resulted in delayed care for critical patients in Ghana and in many cases, avoidable deaths.

We believe that public communities can be mobilized to close gaps in health care delivery, particularly in developing countries. BloodForce plans to build an online blood donor community that can reliably and meaningfully increase blood donation rates in Ghana while helping patients and families navigate their blood product health crises. This community will also serve as a platform for advocacy and education, strengthening transfusion services across the country.

Shelter Bucket Collection – Slough Tesco Extra

Role summary

Through their ‘Taste and Tesco’ scheme, the UK’s biggest supermarket offer charities across the UK opportunities to apply for fundraising collections outside their stores. Following a successful application, this bucket collection will take outside the Slough Wellington Tesco Extra, Slough. Volunteers will be required to stand with buckets and card machines asking the public for donations.

• Availability: This is a flexible opportunity, with various shifts between 10:00 - 17:00
• Suggested involvement: Whatever works for you - you choose the shift you volunteer at!

But in Britain today, that right is denied to millions of people whose lives are blighted by homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. The time for change is now. Together with individuals, in communities and across society, we will lead the way for a safe home for all. But we need your help to do it. Becoming a Community Fundraising Volunteer will give you the opportunity to take practical action and to meet other people who are passionate about tackling the housing emergency.

Learning & Development

To enable you to take part in this opportunity we will:

• Put you in contact with a Community & Events Assistant who will support you in the role
• Provide you with relevant policies
• Provide relevant induction, training and information
• Refund any out-of-pocket expenses in line with Shelter’s volunteer expenses policy
