At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. 

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient by sharing your first aid skills and knowledge. As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.

Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives. 

Through volunteering as a Community First Aider, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time. 

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. We have training hubs throughout the Network, we are looking for volunteers in St Austell, Par, Bodmin, Liskeard, Wadebridge, Callington, Bude, Saltash and Torpoint (basically anyone with a PL or EX postcode living in Cornwall)

We meet on various days throughout the week for training and support; you will be expected to attend these as often as you can. As a Community First Aider, you will be expected to do 80 hours of volunteering every full calendar year which usually equates to an event or two a month, but you will be presented with some amazing opportunities.

We will be running a number of information events locally and these are:

We are looking to run a volunteering selection session on: 12th & 16th of July. Here you will have an interview for role (which is informal) and a Right To Volunteer Check

If you are successful you will need to undertake induction & training for role at these dates:
Welcome Event (Induction) - Induction to the role will be done at your local hub, where you will be introduced to our organisations systems, assigned a buddy, get to know people and take part in some of the local training.
Training for role - The First Aid Course will be at St Austell training centre, the dates will be confirmed but you will be given plenty of notice. You will be provided with an opportunity to do some online training before these dates.

The Children’s Book Project is a grassroots charity, powered by volunteers at every stage of what we do. At our Book Sorting Hub at Seagulls LS11 9UD we would love you to join us as a Volunteer Coordinator, helping to oversee our regular book sorting events which take place during term time.

We are a very friendly bunch and you will be working as part of a small team working with our corporate groups. We try to give each group of volunteers the fullest insight into our work and so during the course of their time with us they will quality control, organise, sort and box books for delivery to schools ready to gift to children. Your role will be to lead them in these tasks to help them understand the value of their contribution and to help the day run smoothly.

Children Not Numbers (CNN) is a UK-based medico-legal NGO whose mission is to provide immediate support and long-term rehabilitation for children in Gaza - ensuring access to the medical care, education, and advocacy they deserve. We’re looking for one or two service group supporters over the age of 18 years old, based at Beefeater, Hilden Manor, Hildenborough, TN10 3AN. 

You’ll be volunteering, fortnightly, on a Friday between 10:00am and 11:30am.

As a stroke group supporter you will be part of a team assisting in the running of one (or more) of these service groups and in doing so you help make a real difference to the lives of stroke survivors.

The volunteers will:

· Support people to take part in activities organised for the group.

· Assist our staff in arranging activities for the group, providing information and researching local activity options.

· Meet and greet group members and support our staff in setting-up and clearing away venues for group meetings.

· Help with other tasks to help the group run smoothly such as risk assessments and gathering feedback from people who attend.

· You might also assist stroke survivors in developing their communication skills in small groups. You would be willing to learn and use the technique, called ‘supported conversation’, that is used to support people with communication difficulties.

Our mission is to empower young people and their families in South East Hampshire by supporting their emotional health and well-being. We provide vital one-on-one and family counseling, support, a young carers project and group services for individuals aged 8-25 and their families.

We are currently looking for new volunteers to join us, especially in the following locations:

As a Campaign Volunteer, you will help us achieve change for animals by:

• Joining in-person events locally and nationally
• Including peaceful protests, public outreach and social meet-ups
• Events are organised by your local Grassroots Organiser or THL staff
• Travel and food expenses are available, to ensure as many people can attend as possible
• Taking part in campaign actions from home
• This may include writing emails and letters, making phone calls to companies, connecting with your MP and taking social media actions
• In addition to this, you can order leaflets and stickers to distribute locally for awareness raising
• And much more!

This flexible and rewarding role is perfect for those looking to make a difference for farmed animals but without a strict time commitment. Around 4-6 hours a month is the average for this role, depending on how much you choose to get involved with.

No prior experience is required, just a passion and drive to make a difference to animals. Whether you're retired, working full time, a student, or somewhere in between - we would love to welcome you.
