About the Role:
Are you a visual artist passionate about using your creativity to inspire and make a difference?

Penificent is seeking talented freelance artists to lead our comic and zine-making workshops. These sessions empower young people to express themselves while tackling real-world issues like identity, mental health, social media, and financial literacy ,all through storytelling and illustration. Being arisit  is not esstinial but could be really useful.

You’ll not only facilitate impactful workshops, but you’ll also have the chance to represent Penificent at Comic Con events, collaborate with fellow creatives, and even have your work featured in our published comics and online content.

Key Responsibilities:
�� Lead comic and zine-making workshops in schools and community spaces
�� Help participants create original characters and stories around social themes
�� Use art to spark dialogue and build confidence
�� Prepare and manage workshop materials (resources provided)

About the role

The role of Software Tester is responsible for the testing of Youth4Youth’s technology solutions. The role involves communication with other Youth4Youth team members; creating test plans; creating test cases; running tests and analysing results to produce reports. The tester will be supporting a website and chat system.

Responsibilities 

• • Conduct functional, acceptance, end-to-end, and regression tests to ensure software quality and performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product design and development teams to develop comprehensive user experiences across mobile, web, and app platforms.
  • Regularly liaise with the wider team to ensure that test plans align with user requirements and core charity objectives.
  • Analyse test results and write detailed reports, communicating findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Identify areas for improvement and work proactively to enhance software functionality.
  • Stay up to date with technological innovations and new testing tools.

At My Black Dog, we provide free, anonymous and judgement-free peer support for those struggling with their mental health. Our volunteers have been there, they’ve faced their own challenges and truly understand what it’s like. Through real conversations, we offer empathy, hope, and a safe space to be heard. No stigma, no pressure, just people who get it, ready to listen. We are now looking for someone with experience of fundraising to join our Trustee team. 

Hartlebury Parish Hall was built in 1952 with the support and effort of the whole community. The parish hall is a charitable institution, run as a non-profit making organisation by a voluntary committee. It is a key focal point for events in the village and is close to St James parish church, Hartlebury Castle and the White Hart village pub.

The role of Treasurer is an important one in our team. We require someone experienced in managing accounts, used to excel spreadsheets and who comes with a friendly and community spirited mindset.

The work involves close liaison with our bookings secretary and we also have an excellent Trustee who helps with monetary issues(but works full time). Our bookings system is 'Hallmaster' and it may be helpful to be acquainted with this , but not at all essential.

We’re looking for 1 or 2 volunteers over the age of 18 years old, to provide communication support to stroke survivors at some of our support groups in the OX16 Banbury area, with the potential to volunteer in wider Oxfordshire as well.

You’ll be volunteering fortnightly on a Wednesday morning between 10:30am and 12:30pm. In addition to a regular commitment on a Wednesday morning there may be additional hours required. The date and time for these would vary depending on the needs of the of the stroke survivors we were supporting at the time but advance notice would be given.

We are looking for communication service supporters to assist stroke survivors in developing their communication skills in a group setting.

The volunteers will:

· Be an effective communication service supporter you need great listening skills and be able to support people in an empathetic and non-judgemental way.

· Be willing to learn and use the technique, called ‘supported conversation’, that is used to support people with communication difficulties.

If you are someone who enjoys conversation, meeting new people and likes to try new things, then this role might be a good one for you.

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this role.

We want to change the perceptions of male caring and fatherhood and support more partners to get involved because it creates value for everyone.

Supporting men to be equal and active parents from the start is key for gender equality. Research from Sweden suggests that every additional month of paternity leave taken by fathers increases the mother’s lifetime earnings by 6.7% (Johansson, 2010).

80% of the gender pay gap is attributed to the motherhood penalty (World Economic Forum, 2022)

The gender pay gap more than doubles for women over 40 (ONS, 2022)

Yet despite increasing willingness and interest in taking an active parenting role, in 2022, dads spent, on average, just 55 minutes per day with their children (ONS, 2023).

This is largely due to the fact that one in three working dads don’t feel comfortable talking to their employer about family commitments and/or are not adequately supported to be the best dads and partners they can be.

We have developed an affordable, comprehensive online platform called "Father's Ed" that provides guidance, support, wellbeing services and a community for new or expectant fathers. This includes peer support between dads, science-based online, digital well-being courses covering a range of strange and anxiety triggers, e. g. financial well-being, loneliness, insomnia, etc.). We are also working on providing mental health services for new fathers through partnerships.

Do Me A Favour Buddy is seeking volunteers for an exciting research study exploring how personalised acts of kindness impact wellbeing, happiness, and sense of purpose.

About the Study

We're conducting an 8-week research project to understand how targeted acts of kindness affect both givers and receivers. Our research aims to gather evidence on how personalised kindness activities might improve mental wellbeing, reduce feelings of loneliness, and enhance life satisfaction.

What's Involved

• Complete an initial onboarding survey about your personality traits, preferences, and wellbeing
• Participate in our 8-week programme
• Receive personalised suggestions for simple acts of kindness
• Track your experiences and feelings
• Complete brief weekly check-ins
• Share your feedback through a final survey
• Participate in follow-up assessments at 3, 6, and 12 months to help us understand long-term effects

Time Commitment

Education for Health Trustee: Digital, marketing and communications

Education for Health is a charity that aims to improve the lives of people with long term physical and mental health conditions by providing high quality education to health care professionals and others who support them.

We are seeking two new Trustees to join our Board and would welcome Trustees with a digital skill set and experience in marketing and communications as well as the ability to deliver core Trustee responsibilities. We would be keen to recruit someone who is early/mid career. A background or interest in healthcare and/or education would be an advantage.

The Board meet four times a year and this Trustee would also be a member of the Commercial Committee which meets four times per year. Meetings are a mixture of in person and on line. The role is voluntary but we pay travel expenses

Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of Education for Health and for developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals, whilst operating within financial, legal and regulatory guidelines.

Core Responsibilities:

To ensure that the charity functions within its legal and regulatory requirements and in line with the organisations’ governance, continually striving for best practice.

To undertake such duties in a professional manner acting with integrity.

To use reasonable care and skill in their work as trustees, using their personal skills and experience as needed to ensure that the charity is well-run and efficient.

To act in the best interest of the charity and its beneficiaries at all times.

To promote and develop the charity for it to grow and maintain its contribution to health and wellbeing.

To maintain sound financial management of the charity’s resources, ensuring expenditure is in line with the organisations’ objects, and investment activities meet accepted standards and policies.

To interview, appoint and monitor the work and activities of the CEO and executive team, according to the Scheme of Delegation.

To ensure the effective and efficient administration of the charity and its resources, including, where appropriate, acting as a counter-signatory on bank payments and any applications for funds.

To maintain absolute confidentiality about all sensitive/confidential information received in the course of trustee’s responsibilities to the charity.

Digital, marketing and communications:

Working with the executive, use professional skills and expertise to support the growth of the charity through the following activities and functions:

Development of a marketing strategy, identifying gaps in the market and opportunities for growth

Creation of a digital marketing strategy and brand strategy

Social media management and content development

Website optimisation and creation of market funnels that lead to purchase of courses

Brand and product development

Communications

Optimising digital solutions and AI to drive operational efficiency

Familiarity with learning technologies and the use of AI in an educational context would be an advantage

The post holder should have an understanding of effective data security practices

Accountability

As the board are responsible and liable for the governance and functioning of the charity, they are accountable in varying degrees to a variety of stakeholders including learners, commissioners, University of Hertfordshire (our awarding body), the Charity Commission, and Companies House.

Requirements:

To attend Board meetings approximately four times per year and to read papers in advance of meetings.

To attend the Commercial Committee four times per year.

To attend the AGM (usually adjacent to a Board meeting).
