Our work, operates on 2 levels:

• Grassroots Community Support – including responsive actions (e.g. Grenfell, COVID-19), education, IAG, family programme and volunteering  

• Wider Reaching Dialogue Events and Influencing – focussing on challenging stigma, prejudice and inequality – working with individuals, organisations, networks and decision makers to move through conversation to action 

Role Description: 

This role will be to act as a teaching assistant to tutors delivering ESOL/ English classes for learners 19+. 

You will: 

• Enjoy working in a team 

• Provide tutorial support 

• Position yourself as a resource for learners 

• Work one-on-one or with smaller groups of learners who need additional help 

You need to be: 

• DBS Checked 

• Confident in the use of IT 

• Some experience of supporting learners with English 

• Committed

• Learners may come from various cultural backgrounds and face different learning challenges. You will need to be at ease whether supervising an entire class or working one-on-one with students.

Animal Fosterer

As an animal fosterer, you would be supporting the RSPCA in providing either our cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, or other small furries with the safety of your home whilst tending to their welfare needs such as feeding and grooming. In addition to this, by providing a temporary loving environment, you will play a crucial role in their wellbeing and socialisation, which will significantly improve their chances of successful rehoming.

Once everything is in place, the animal center will guide you through the fostering process and ensure that you have all the necessary equipment, food, and veterinary care for your foster. The RSPCA is also happy to reimburse any other pre-agreed expenses that you may incur through volunteering for us.

Whilst our animals are in your foster care, you will:

• Provide them with care, suitable housing, and a safe environment as per our policies and guidelines.
• Feed, water, and groom them in line with our advice.
• Transport them to any veterinary appointments if required.
• Provide them with your time and patience.
• Help us spread the word about the animals in your care so they might find their forever home quicker.
• Playing and cuddles are also a must!

What we are looking for in a volunteer Fosterer

• Volunteers aged 18 or over who have had plenty of experience caring for animals.
• Fostering experience is beneficial but not essential as training is provided.
• For their wellbeing, the whole family should be on board with fostering an animal.
• Any existing pets or animals need to have been spayed/neutered (some medical reasons may mean they cannot be so, please let us know if this is the case).
• You will need to live in our branches area.
• You will need to be able to pick up supplies from our office in Eastcote and transport animals to the vets for routine and emergency appointments.

Treasurer Role Overview
The Hospice Lottery Partnership is seeking a Treasurer to join its Board and chair the Finance Committee. This is a voluntary position for an experienced and committed finance professional who can take a collaborative, hands-on approach in partnership with the Head of Finance and Operations and the executive team. The role focuses on enhancing financial insight, strengthening reporting, and supporting strategic planning.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strategic thinking, a passion for the charity’s mission, and a commitment to supporting the hospices that provide compassionate care in their local communities.

Key Information

• Vacancy: The current Treasurer will step into the role of Chair of the Board in September, creating an opportunity for a new Treasurer to join the organisation.

• Dedication and Commitment: The role requires dedication and a willingness to support and mentor the Head of Finance and Operations, along with regular collaboration with the executive team.

• Hands-On Involvement: The Treasurer will have active oversight of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, internal controls, and the annual audit process.

• Essential Skills: A qualified accountant with experience in strategy and governance is sought. A collaborative working style is essential. Knowledge of the Gambling Act is advantageous but not required, as training will be provided.

• Location: Partner hospices are located across Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, and West London. HLP’s office is based in Tring. Board meetings are generally held at partner offices, while Finance Committee meetings are held in Tring. Most work can be undertaken remotely, with occasional in-person meetings as needed.

• Time Commitment: The role involves attendance at four Finance Committee meetings (March, June, September, and December) and four Board meetings (April, July, October, and January) annually. Each meeting typically requires half a day of preparation and half a day for attendance. An additional 2–4 hours per week is recommended for reviewing documents, following up on actions, and liaising with the Chair and executive team.

This voluntary opportunity is central to ensuring HLP continues to raise vital funds for partner charities that support individuals during life’s most challenging moments. Individuals who are aligned with the mission and possess the required expertise are encouraged to apply.

We need an innovative, strategic, and proactive individual with proven experience in brand, marketing, and communications. You'll likely possess:

• Marketing & Communications Expertise: A strong background in developing and executing marketing strategies, brand building, and public relations, ideally in the charity or youth sector.

• Strategic Thinking: Ability to conceive and implement creative campaigns and long-term communication plans that resonate with diverse audiences.

• Content Creation Acumen: Experience in developing a range of compelling content, including written (copywriting for web/social), visual (directing photos/videos, graphic design), and digital assets.

• Digital Fluency: Strong understanding of social media platforms, website management, email marketing, and other digital tools for outreach and engagement.

• Storytelling Prowess: Ability to craft powerful narratives that communicate impact, inspire action, and build strong connections with young people, volunteers, and funders.

In this vital set-up phase, you will be instrumental in:

• Developing Brand Strategy: Working with the team to refine REMIX's brand identity, voice, tone, and visual guidelines, ensuring a unique and compelling presence.

• Creating Excitement & Awareness: Devising and implementing launch strategies and ongoing activities to generate enthusiasm for REMIX across London.

• Building a Resource Bank: Overseeing or directly creating a library of high-quality visual content, including photos, videos, and graphic templates, that align with our brand identity.

• Driving Recruitment Campaigns: Designing and executing targeted marketing campaigns to attract young people to our personal development, employability, and mentoring programmes.

• Youth-Friendly Aesthetic: A natural understanding of what appeals to young people (aged 14-25) and how to create designs that feel authentic, vibrant, and approachable.

• Versatility: Ability to design for different mediums, including social media, print (booklets, flyers), and digital presentations.

• Attention to Detail: Meticulous in ensuring brand consistency and high-quality output.

• Collaborative Spirit: Eagerness to work with our Trustees and the Brand, Marketing & Communications Manager to translate our mission and existing logo into a powerful visual story.

YOUR ROLE AS GRAPHIC DESIGNER:

In this vital set-up phase, you will be instrumental in:

• Developing a Brand Styling Guide: Collaborating with our team to build a comprehensive visual identity guide. This includes defining our brand colours, typography, imagery style (including photography and illustration direction), logo usage, and overall design principles to ensure a cohesive and impactful look.

• Designing Core Communication Materials: Creating templates and initial designs for:

  • Social media posts: Engaging graphics for Instagram.

  • Information booklets: Designing layouts for programme information, volunteer guides, or impact reports.

  • Presentation templates: Creating professional and appealing templates for pitches to funders and partners.

• Ensuring Brand Consistency: Helping to apply the new brand identity across all our communications, ensuring everything we produce feels distinctly REMIX.

• Visual Storytelling: Translating REMIX's mission and impact into compelling visual narratives that resonate with our audiences.
