Job description

Join CPRE London as a HR volunteer; bring your recruitment and HR experience to attract volunteers who help London become a well-planned, climate resilient, nature-rich city.

As an HR volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in recruiting to our various teams and ensuring volunteers feel valued and can develop in their roles. You’ll help us to achieve our vision by attracting new volunteers to meet skills gaps and make us a more resilient and effective organisation. Helping shape the organisational culture and helping to ensure CPRE London is a great place to volunteer and work is also a vital part of this role.

Who are we?

At CPRE London we campaign to save and promote green spaces in Greater London and make London a better, greener and healthier place for everyone to live in, work in and enjoy.

We are part of the national network of CPRE, the countryside charity.

What will you be doing?

Helping build the team – devising ways to attract talented people who bring key skills to the team

  • Recruitment - vacancy promotion and administration - helping us track down people who bring key skills to strengthen our teams
  • Using our Assemble platform, administer staff onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Creating a positive environment and recognising volunteers for their contribution – so people want to stay involved
  • Work with the HR team on surveys and addressing survey outcomes
  • Optional: policy reviews in any areas of expertise

Additionally:

  • Also supporting staff in relation to encouraging them to access training and shaping a positive culture within the organisation
  • Helping to coordinate the work of the volunteer team – especially in relation to supporting events such as nature walks and hands-on planting or environmental improvement work

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with HR knowledge and, ideally, someone with recruitment experience in either being a volunteer or supporting other volunteers.

  • Capacity and experience to manage the full recruitment cycle
  • Previous experience of being a volunteer or supporting volunteers
  • A friendly personality and an ability to relate to people from different backgrounds
  • Good organisational skills and confidence in the use of online systems
  • Self-starter, happy carrying out tasks independently or as part of a team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Access to a computer and the internet at home and be confident using them
  • Be able to commit to volunteering regularly to suit your availability with occasional attendance at meetings
  • An interest in the countryside and environmental issues

Availability:

A six-month plus or long term commitment is preferable.

7-10 hours per week, flexible, hybrid work pattern, but office attendance some Thursdays very useful.

Benefits of the role

  • Use your skills and experience to contribute to the success of our charity and make a positive difference to London’s green spaces and the countryside.
  • Meet like-minded people and enjoy being part of a team, with occasional local social events
  • Enhance your CV by developing new skills and gaining valuable experience
  • We’ll support you to develop in your volunteering role and provide you with relevant training
  • We’ll give you a reference for your future work or volunteering
  • Get involved with events and workshops on a local and national level
  • The opportunity to attend a volunteer induction day at CPRE’s national office in London or a regional centre
  • We provide out-of-pocket travel expense
