Evolving Communities is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company that specialises in patient, public and stakeholder engagement and insight to drive and support improvements in health and social care.

Working a national, regional and local level, Evolving Communities delivers local Healthwatch services and Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnerships, and consultancy/advisory work for those who commission, provide and develop health and social care services and products.

About the roles

Evolving Communities is looking to expand its Board with a view to building on the company’s success in health and social care and consultancy/advisory and so develop and expand its business into other areas where the experience of the public voice translates. This could be, for example, care, housing or education.

Key responsibilities include:

• Constructively challenging and helping to develop business proposals and strategy.
• Overseeing the performance of management in meeting agreed goals and objectives and monitoring the reporting of performance.
• Ensuring the integrity of financial information and that financial controls and systems of risk management are robust and defensible.

Who we’re looking for

The existing Board is looking for people to complement their individual and collective skill set and who are interested in and supportive of public advocacy. Candidates may have experience in either:

• Communications and marketing (Ideally within a health-focused organisation)
• Service development within the health and/or social care sectors
• Business development/sales/commercial (ideally from the health and social care sectors)
   

Candidates will also demonstrate a range of knowledge and skills, such as:

• Strategic thinking and planning. Able to analyse complex information, including statistical data. Able to draw logical conclusions and contribute to rational decision making.
• Entrepreneurial mindset.
• Strong communications and interpersonal skills, able to liaise effectively with a wide a range of stakeholders and audiences.
• An interest in health, social care and wellbeing issues and how these may affect people.

Time commitment and term

This is a voluntary role with a term of three years, with the option to serve for a further two years if invited to do so by the Chair. The commitment involves attending a Board meeting every other month (option to join in person or virtually), and other ad hoc meetings such as training and away days. Overall, this is a role requiring a time commitment equivalent to approximately two days per month.

WORTH is a charity providing long term aftercare to women affected by Domestic Abuse. We offer clients 1-1 support and a range of wellbeing groups including art, writing, music, and self-defence to help rebuild their confidence and self-esteem.

We provide a safe space for clients to share experiences, give, and receive practical and emotional support, learn new skills, reduce isolation, build friendships, and give women their voice back. It is a space where women can focus on their future and we can support our clients in their healing, post abuse.

To be able to provide this support we rely on a wonderful team of volunteers with a wide skill set and a whole lot of passion to enable our services to work effectively.

Our Board of Trustees play a vital role in making sure that WORTH achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management, administration, and governance of the charity. They also ensure that WORTH has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the CEO to enable WORTH to grow and thrive and support more women in need.

Trustee Duties:

• Support and provide advice on WORTH's purpose, vision, goals, and activities.
• Approve operational strategies and policies and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
• Oversee WORTH's financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
• Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
• Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored, and controlled effectively.
• Review and approve WORTH's financial statements.
• Provide support and challenge to WORTH's CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority and affairs.
• Keep abreast of changes in WORTH's operating environment.

• The secretary will be responsible for record taking, including writing, and distributing minutes of trustee meetings, putting together agendas for meetings and sending these out with notice of the next meeting.
• The Secretary will work closely with the Chair to enable the smooth running of meetings.
• The Treasurer will be responsible for overseeing and presenting the accounts to the Trustee meetings. We have an accountant doing the day-to-day management of our finances.
• The treasurer will work closely with the CEO in putting together the budget and monitoring the accounts.

As a small charity, there will be times when trustees will need to be actively involved beyond Trustee Board meetings. This may involve scrutinising meeting papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.

What we are looking for

We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking and skills on our Board of Trustees. We are particularly interested in candidates with business, finance, and fundraising experience.

Previous governance experience is preferable but not essential. The role is open to remote and local applicants.

Terms of office

The EUK Board meets online, quarterly as well as at an annual face to face two-day overnight strategy session usually in Autumn and an annual face to face meeting in Spring. What We're Looking For

We aim for our Trustee Board as a group to have a mix of skills and backgrounds. Ultimately, we want to find people who are committed to ABandOfBrothers’s mission and who have the time to meaningfully engage at board level. Some additional things we're looking out for this time include:

• Lived experience of the care system or experience of the care system from your working life
• Lived experience of the criminal justice system (this might be your own experience, but could also be that of a partner or family member) or experience of the criminal justice system from your working life

• A background in successful charity fundraising or a network that you are happy to share to further our fundraising efforts

Time commitment

Our Board meets four-six times a year, for about three hours. Trustees also provide support and advice to the leadership team between meetings on subjects from fundraising to programmes. We are happy to pay travel and childcare expenses to enable Trustees to attend.

Trustees are normally appointed for four years. This term is sometimes then extended for a further four years to a maximum term of eight years.

There's a small range of offences-  mainly fraud, sexual offences and terrorism-related offences – which can currently disqualify some people with unspent convictions from serving as a charity Trustee. This is a home working role and will be for immediate start.

Our charity

You and Me Counselling is a charitable organisation established in 2011. We are a counselling and psychotherapy service based in Hornchurch, Essex that works with children, young people, adults, and their families in the boroughs of Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest. Our counsellors and therapists work both within schools and from our counselling rooms located in Hornchurch and Ilford.

You and Me Counselling are an organisational member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). This means we are fully governed by the BACP’s Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Job Description

As a trustee you will need to:

• Acknowledge emails at least once a day.
• Give a minimum of one hour per week to the role.
• Attend quarterly trustee meetings online.

Youth Advantage UK (YAUK) is seeking a Volunteer Senior Policy Advisor to support its Long-Term Research & Policy Team in identifying and delivering on opportunities for the organisation to grow its impact. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring research developed by YAUK can be moulded into policy positions capable of influencing and informing policy makers. Working closely with the Heads of Policy, the ideal candidate will use their prior experience to develop convincing narratives to achieve the aims of the organisation. Responsibilities:

•    Taking raw research and developing a convincing narrative that will convince policy makers to take action based on our evidence-based recommendations.

•    Work effectively with members of YAUK’s research team to turn their research into succinct policy documents.

Our network brings together over 180 members in more than 40 countries. You will work remotely alongside our dedicated management team to develop robust financial processes that will support our journey toward becoming a self-sustaining arts organisation. Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting us in managing our diverse revenue streams, including workshop fees, journal and poetry publications, grants (hopefully we get some soon) and event income.

The Jawbone Collective is a dynamic arts organisation dedicated to nurturing creative voices across the Wessex Region. Founded in 2022, we've evolved from our initial mission of publishing the poetry collections of under represented groups to becoming a comprehensive creative hub offering multiple platforms for artistic expression. Our initiatives include the upcoming Jawbone Journal - May 2025; developing a Substack community, Jawbone Radio for spoken word performances; plus workshops - in person and online; and mentoring programs. Based in Dorset, we've established strong creative communities in Dorchester and Bridport as well as attracting attendees to real world activities coming from Dorset, Devon, Wiltshire and Somerset, whilst also maintaining an active online presence attracting people from the UK and across the world.

At our core, we're driven by a commitment to diversity and accessibility in the arts. Our community of 15 core creative members represents a rich tapestry of voices, including creatives from neurodivergent, disabled, LGBTQIA+, female and  working class creators from various age groups and backgrounds.
