We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient. Community Volunteers can choose from a wide selection of activities – including fundraising, talks and demonstrations, supporting at events, volunteer welfare, social media and administration support.

Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives.

Give as much (or little) time as you can afford. With this new role, you simply volunteer when it works for you. The role

We now seek a new Chair to lead the BPSA Board in collaboration with the Managing Director, BPSA team and other Non-Executive Directors. As Chair, you will play a key role in shaping the development of our commercial strategy and ensuring our work remains aligned with our mission to improve prescribing practice. You will guide the BPSA’s growth by supporting the sales and development of new products and services, including online assessment and eLearning, and contribute to the development of new markets. You will provide insight and direction on strategic ventures, commercial partnerships, and decision-making, while fostering a collaborative environment that builds consensus and ensures all voices around the table contribute to shaping the organisation’s success.

Board meetings take place quarterly (virtually or occasionally in person in London), although there will undoubtedly be additional engagement touchpoints. Thus, more broadly, we would expect your commitment to be somewhere between half to a full day per month, on average, to deliver successfully in this key role.

What we seek

We are looking for a strategic and facilitative Chair with experience at Board level, ideally including prior Chairing responsibilities. You will bring a strong understanding of governance, strategic planning, and organisational leadership, along with an ability to foster constructive dialogue and help guide impactful decisions.

Integrity, commitment, and a willingness to dedicate the necessary time and effort are essential qualities. We are particularly interested in those with expertise in healthcare or medical sciences, especially in areas such as prescribing, medical education, or assessment. Experience of working with or within the subsidiary companies of charities, as well as supporting commercial growth and international market development, would also be highly valued.

How does it work?

In 2025 we launched our arm chair volunteering initiative to help us spread the word about our service and to give people the opportunity to take part in surveys and projects to help us deliver the best mental health support to the UK public.

We'd like to embrace what you love doing, whether that be sharing on socials, proof reading, surveys, sharing experiences or getting involved in our fabulous projects.

Important information:

In order to volunteer for knus as an ambassador, you will need to complete a brief application form and a ID check. A DBS is not required for this role, however, if you wish to progress to another role you may need a disclosure. We do this to ensure of service remains a safe place to volunteer for all. Please do not worry about this, we will help you as much as we can.

Training is provided by us and our training partners. You will be required to attend this training using online conferencing software such as zoom or teams.

Facilitating a weekly walking group, you will contribute to a timetable to support people to reduce isolation, improve their physical activity, self-care and create a community for them to come together to build connections and friendships.

Join our team and inspire others to exercise through a weekly walk. You will create an opportunity for people to support each other, provide that additional boost to exercise and go for a walk even when they may not be feeling the motivation. 

What you will be doing

• Coordinate and facilitate weekly walks in local parks to the service alongside other volunteers
• Meet with the walking group weekly
• Hold conversations with people attending the group, checking in on their wellbeing and providing a listening ear/friendly face
• Keep a record of attendees, provide feedback, and report any concerns to the staff team
• Ability to provide a supportive, and inclusive atmosphere that encourages participation

The skills you need

• Inspire and motivate people to attend the walking group
• Ability to identify, manage any possible risks that may arise during the walking group. Training will be provided
• Willing and able to go on a weekly walk lasting approximately 60-90 minutes
• Good communication skills
• Calm and patient approach

Who we are looking for

For both roles, we are interested to speak to those who have governance experience.

For the education role, we are seeking someone currently or recently working in secondary school leadership, ideally at Assistant Head level or above. You will bring a strong understanding of attainment data, teaching and learning, safeguarding, and strategic school improvement. Experience with Ofsted inspection frameworks, curriculum development, or SEND provision would be valuable.

For the business leadership role, we are looking for a local employer or senior business figure with strategic oversight experience, financial acumen and a genuine interest in education and the local community. You will be comfortable operating in a governance setting and prepared to engage fully with the details of reports and strategic plans. Knowledge of organisational development, audit, or risk would be an advantage.

Course description:

This class is specifically aimed at learners (ESOL Entry 2 +) who want to develop their basic digital skills. We work a lot on essential computer functions such as turning devices on and off, using the mouse and navigating applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Lessons are based on a wide range of different topics, but will have a particular focus on practising their digital literacy skills.

• Supporting the branch by ensuring that accurate and up to date records of all cats helped are maintained, using specified systems
• Attending relevant volunteer training sessions and encouraging other volunteers to do likewise
• With the other volunteers, recruit, induct and support all branch fosterers and cat care volunteers
• Represent the branch at relevant meetings
• Play an active part in the branch committee, being part of the branch team leading on cat adoption information and updates
• Collaborating with the cat adoption team leader to ensure the highest standards of cat care are applied in line with our policies and procedures

You'll join a group of enthusiastic volunteers taking actions and giving feedback that directly supports our campaigning work. Some actions will take as little as 5 minutes!

Sign up is easy - we just need a few details and then you'll join our activist pool. Please note you must be 18 or over to sign up for this role.

What you will be doing

The types of actions we’ll ask you to take part may include:

• Build our understanding of what motivates you to support our campaigns, what you’d like to see us do in the future and how best you’d like to take part through surveys and feedback
• Sign a petition, send a letter to your MP using a template or take a survey
• Read / share articles & like / share posts / blogs
• Attend an online session / webinar / training eg on lobbying
• Feedback on campaigns content (reports, website, podcasts)

The skills you need

• An interest in the countryside and environmental issues
• Willing to give feedback as part of the role
• Access to a computer, tablet or smartphone with internet
• No experience necessary!

What will you be doing?

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our experienced Board of Trustees. As a member of the Board, you will play a vital role in steering and supporting the Group. The Board is responsible for providing strategic direction, ensuring we meet regulatory requirements, and overseeing the work of the staff team, ensuring the Group's efficient administration and financial stability.

What are we looking for?

Ideally, we are looking for a finance professional with experience in accounting or financial analysis, who possesses expertise in financial principles and practices. Having a good understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting that will help support our strategic goals and direction.
