The Position

We are looking for a Grants Officer who can support us with diverse tasks that include looking for grants opportunities, project development, proposals writing, and liaising with potential partners and donors. In this role you’ll be a key contributor to the continued existence of Second Tree, which is dependent on grants to survive, and to the creation of new projects and partnerships. To do this successfully, you'll need to employ meticulous time-management and organisation skills, as juggling multiple tasks with competing deadlines is common in this role.

The role will include:

• Researching and identifying new grant opportunities on a weekly basis

• Summarising relevant grant opportunities and suggesting how to best respond and comply with them

• Researching information and data necessary for grants and grant reporting

• Supporting the design of new projects

• Supporting with proposal writing

• Maintaining necessary records, files, reports, databases, and resource materials for the Grants team

• Working with the wider Second Tree team to ensure that all project proposals align with organisational, and programme strategies

• Establishing and maintaining connections with funding bodies

You should be able to:

• Professionally communicate in English (verbally and in writing)

• Read, comprehend, interpret, summarise and follow proposal guidelines

• Work to tight deadlines with flexibility and a problem-solving attitude;

• Conduct thorough, high-quality, independent research

• Work both independently and as part of a team

• Manage and prioritise projects effectively to meet team and proposal deadlines

The ideal candidate will have:

• Working knowledge of project management techniques such as LFA

• Knowledge of and experience with grant-giving bodies and other external funding sources (e.g. European Commission)

• A strong sense of logic while building an argument

You’ll deliver fun and inspiring talks to local groups, schools, and clubs, sharing the incredible impact of our assistance dogs and the lives they change. This role offers flexibility, is deeply rewarding and perfect for confident communicators. We provide all the training, support, and materials you need to make a meaningful impact in your community.

About the opportunity

This role involves providing talks to a variety of groups, schools and organisations within your local area, raising awareness and promoting our fundraising activities.

There is no minimum commitment for this role. Times can vary, and you can choose which talks you attend. Talks primarily take place during the week, with some evenings. The length of each talk will vary depending on the group’s requirements.

You will be provided with speaker training before beginning this role. Talk requests are handled by the Canine Partners fundraising team; however, we would encourage you to secure your own talks within your local area.

The Lisa Ullmann Travelling Scholarship Fund (LUTSF) is seeking new board members to support the next phase of its development. Established in 1987 in memory of dance pioneer Lisa Ullmann, the charity exists to enable individuals working in dance and movement to travel internationally in order to deepen their practice, learn new approaches, and contribute to creative and cultural exchange. LUTSF awards small scholarships annually and operates as a UK‑registered charity (no. 1203903).

Board members meet twice per year in central London to review applications, discuss strategy, and agree on scholarship awards. Meetings are scheduled well in advance and take into account members’ availability. These are voluntary, unpaid roles, though reasonable expenses are reimbursed. Prior experience serving on a board is not required; LUTSF provides a full induction, training, and ongoing support for all new board members.

The charity welcomes applications from individuals of all backgrounds and is particularly interested in people with experience in marketing, communications, or fundraising. LUTSF is committed to promoting equality, championing diversity, and challenging discrimination across all areas of its work.

Why we want you

As branch chair you and your branch members will create a range of activities to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community. To ensure that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.

What you will be doing

• Overseeing an appropriate programme of awareness raising activities so that potential beneficiaries, volunteers and supporters are aware of SSAFA as first in mind for support.
• Building relationships with the regional and national SSAFA team, local voluntary organisations and, if applicable, SSAFA serving community teams, local military establishments, etc.
• Attending events as a key SSAFA representative.
• Providing timely reports and information to SSAFA’s central office
• Overseeing a programme of meetings including an AGM, branch meetings, committee meetings, training etc.
• Working with other volunteers, regional and national team members to attract and recruit new volunteers as required.
• Work closely with the community engagement co-ordinator to recruit, welcome, induct, support, and manage volunteers in line with SSAFA policies, such as the Volunteering Policy, Volunteer Code of Conduct, Data Protection Policy, and Safeguarding Policy.
