What will you be doing?

Daz In The Hat Radio Community Interest Company is a volunteer-led internet radio station broadcasting 24/7 and supporting unsigned and independent artists from around the world. Alongside providing a platform for new music, we offer volunteers opportunities to gain practical experience in radio, media, administration and promotion.

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Presenters Admin Assistant to work alongside our presenters and wider station team. The main purpose of the role is to help promote our radio shows, support presenters with administration and strengthen communication between the station and the artists and promoters whose music we broadcast.

A key responsibility will be promoting presenters and their shows across social media. The volunteer will help create and publish posts advertising upcoming programmes and highlighting the music and artists featured. Where appropriate, artists, bands and promoters should be tagged in posts, helping increase engagement and encouraging them to share the station's content with their own audiences.

Another important part of the role is artist and promoter liaison. Daz In The Hat Radio receives music from unsigned artists, bands, promoters and other music industry contacts. When their music is included in one of our shows, the Presenters Admin Assistant will help notify the relevant artist or promoter that their music has been aired. This may include providing details of the programme, presenter and broadcast.

The volunteer will also help presenters gather and organise information required for show promotion. This could include artist names, social media accounts, release information and other relevant details. Good attention to detail is important to ensure artists are correctly identified and tagged.

Key responsibilities will include:

Promoting presenters and their shows through the station's social media channels.
Tagging featured artists, bands and promoters in relevant promotional posts.
Informing artists and promoters when their music has been played on the station.
Supporting presenters with general programme-related administration.
Gathering relevant artist and social media information for promotional purposes.
Maintaining appropriate records of artists and promoters who have been contacted.
Encouraging artists and promoters to share station and programme publicity.
Helping build positive relationships between presenters, artists, promoters and the station.
Using the station email address for all station-related communications.
Communicating professionally and representing Daz In The Hat Radio CIC positively.

The role is fully remote, and the volunteer will work with presenters and other members of our international volunteer team. Much of our team works remotely, so good communication and the ability to manage tasks independently are important.

The role requires approximately 4–8 hours per week, with flexibility around other commitments.

By supporting our presenters and maintaining contact with artists and promoters, the volunteer will play an important part in increasing the visibility of our programmes and helping more unsigned and independent artists get their music heard by audiences around the world.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a reliable, organised and enthusiastic volunteer who enjoys communicating with people and has an interest in music, radio, social media or the wider media industry.

The Presenters Admin Assistant will regularly communicate with presenters, unsigned artists, bands, music promoters and other members of the Daz In The Hat Radio team. For this reason, one of the most important qualities is good communication skills. The volunteer should be confident writing clear, friendly and professional emails and social media messages and be comfortable representing Daz In The Hat Radio Community Interest Company when contacting external organisations and individuals.

Good social media skills are particularly important. The volunteer should have experience using platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or similar social networks and understand how tagging artists, promoters and other relevant accounts can increase the reach of posts. Experience creating engaging promotional posts would be an advantage, although guidance can be provided.

The ideal volunteer will have:

Previous experience in administration, social media, marketing, publicity, radio, music promotion or artist liaison would be useful but is not essential. We are equally interested in hearing from people who would like the opportunity to develop practical experience in these areas.

As most of our volunteers work remotely, the ability to communicate effectively online is particularly important. Volunteers should be comfortable using email and other agreed communication methods to stay in contact with presenters and the wider station team.

Attention to detail is essential. The volunteer may be working with information relating to numerous artists, shows and promoters, so they will need to make sure the correct people are contacted and accurately tagged when content is published.

We also value initiative and creativity. We welcome volunteers who can suggest new ways of promoting shows, increasing social media engagement and encouraging artists and promoters to share Daz In The Hat Radio content with their audiences.

The role will also provide valuable administrative support to our volunteer presenters. Presenters invest considerable time in researching music, recording and producing their programmes. Having someone available to assist with promotion, artist liaison and related administration allows presenters to concentrate more of their time on producing engaging radio shows.

As a volunteer-led Community Interest Company, volunteers are central to everything we achieve. We operate with a remote team carrying out a wide variety of roles, including presenting, administration, music submissions, social media, website management, finance and publicity. Every volunteer contributes towards keeping the station operating and developing our services.
