The Women & Families Resource Centre (WFRC) is a registered charity based in Wolverhampton that supports, empowers, and advocates for women and children.

We aim to encourage women to become self-reliant by helping them identify their needs, make informed choices, and create their own solutions. Our services include a baby bank, a charity shop, and a range of community support initiatives for women facing crises or challenging circumstances.

About the Role

We are looking for an organised and proactive Human Resources Administrator (On-site Volunteer) to support recruitment and administrative tasks within our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on, real-world experience in HR, recruitment, and coordination while working in a supportive and purpose-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in posting volunteer and team role advertisements

• Screen applications and shortlist suitable candidates

• Coordinate interview schedules with hiring managers

• Conduct initial screening calls (if assigned)

• Maintain applicant tracking sheets and recruitment records

• Support onboarding processes, including documentation and system access

• Ensure new volunteers receive SOPs and onboarding materials

• Follow structured recruitment workflows

• Provide weekly recruitment updates to the Online Business Manager

We are currently looking for a volunteer to help support our bi-weekly Link Group meeting.

The Link Group is a group of approx. 6 – 8 people with learning disabilities and one Speak Out staff facilitator who meet every two weeks on a Tuesday morning. We work with the Learning Disability Partnership Board, a group of LD providers and BHCC decision makers, to represent the views of the learning disability community in Brighton and Hove. We run surveys and consultations with the LD community to get their views on local issues and policy, as well as working directly with Council teams to design good policy and deliver accessible events.

Recent examples of this are the survey we did about the state of activities and services in Brighton and Hove post-Covid; and working with the Council's Healthy Lifestyles team to make their annual sports and physical activities festival. TakePart, more accessible for people with learning disabilities.

What the role involves:

• Being available for 2 hours every other week to provide self-advocacy group support at Speak Out offices or an alternative venue in the community
• You will be present to support people in a group setting
• You may be required to attend the Learning Disability Partnership board quarterly
• You will adhere to Speak Out’s Code of Practice
• You may be required to help clear up at the end of sessions.

Pregnancy Sickness Support is a registered UK charity working to improve care, treatment and support for those affected by nausea and vomiting in pregnancy (NVP) and the severe form of the condition, Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG). For many people this is one of the hardest and loneliest parts of pregnancy. Our social media is often the first place someone finds out they are not alone.

We are looking for a creative  Social Media Volunteer to help us tell that story well. You would help shape warm, accurate and engaging content across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and X, and, if it interests you, help us explore and launch a presence on TikTok. Most of your creative work would be in Canva, using our templates and brand.

What the role involves

• Creating warm, accurate posts and simple graphics in Canva that share support, information and lived experience across our channels
• Helping plan and schedule content across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and X
• Helping us explore and launch a presence on TikTok, if that is something you would enjoy
• Keeping an eye on comments and messages, replying kindly to straightforward ones and passing anything sensitive or distressing to the staff team
• Spotting awareness days, campaigns and moments that matter to our community and suggesting content for them
• Sharing simple updates on what is landing well, so we can learn what our audience values

About you

You do not need to be a marketing professional. We are looking for someone who cares about our cause, writes clearly and warmly, and can handle a sensitive subject with care. You would be comfortable on social media, happy to learn our tools and brand, and able to organise your own time so the volunteering fits around your life.

What we hope you can bring 

• A genuine interest in our cause and a caring, sensitive approach to content about pregnancy, illness, loss and mental health
• Confidence using one or more social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or X), whether in a personal or work setting
• The ability to write clearly and warmly for a general audience, with good attention to accuracy
• Reliability and the ability to organise your own time around the volunteering
• A willingness to follow our brand, safeguarding and confidentiality guidance, and to check content with the team before posting where needed

Helpful extras 

• Making simple graphics or short videos, for example in Canva (templates and guidance are provided, so this is not essential)
• An interest in or experience of creating TikTok content
• Lived experience of hyperemesis gravidarum or pregnancy sickness, or a close understanding of it. This is valued, not required
• Any experience of content planning, scheduling tools or basic social media insights
• Any experience of volunteering with, or working for, a charity

What You Will Do

As part of a dual-lead operational team, your role will span a range of business and project administration duties:

• Programme Delivery: Jointly manage and deliver community hub programmes (90% of which are free), ranging from our Homeschooling Hub to After-School and Holiday Clubs.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Support staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders, ensuring the team remains timely, professional, and kind during service delivery.
• CEO Support: Coordinate directly with the CEO to manage workflows, schedule essential meetings, and align project timelines.
• Human Resources: Assist with tracking volunteer onboarding records and training schedules.
• Fundraising Support: Help track grant applications and coordinate local fundraising events.
• Communications & Social Media: Create engaging content using Canva and manage our active social media profiles to promote hub activities.

What We Are Looking For

Essential Skills:

• Tech Literacy: Mastery of the full Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Teams.
• Design Tools: Proficiency in Canva to create engaging social media and marketing graphics.
• Communication: Warm, professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Organisation: Strong time management, budget awareness, and the ability to manage diverse administrative tasks

Desirable Criteria:

• Driving License: A clean, valid UK driving license is highly preferred.
• Background Checks: A current Enhanced DBS check is ideal, though we can arrange this for you.

Commitment & Flexibility

We require a combined commitment across our core office days: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with online remote workflows on Tuesday and Friday.

As this is an official job-share arrangement, the two Operations Leads will divide and coordinate these days between them to ensure seamless operational cover across the 3 core days.

Our support volunteers usually spend 2-5 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.
