Job description

Volunteer Role: Learning & Development Manager

Join a movement built on care, dignity, and community.

Unlock YOUR Potential is launching in Newham and Tower Hamlets — and we’re looking for a thoughtful, organised, people‑centred Learning & Development Manager to design and deliver the training that will empower our volunteers to change lives.

We are a 100% volunteer‑led organisation supporting adults aged 18–67 who face barriers to employment, education, confidence, and wellbeing. Our programmes are trauma‑informed, community‑based, and rooted in human connection.

If you believe learning should be accessible, empowering, and rooted in care — this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

As our Learning & Development Manager, you will:

  • Design and deliver induction training for all new volunteers

  • Create ongoing learning pathways for facilitators, mentors, wellbeing volunteers, and operational teams

  • Embed trauma‑informed, person‑centred practice across all training materials

  • Develop simple, accessible resources, guides, and toolkits to support high‑quality delivery

  • Work closely with the Head of People, Culture & Talent and Head of Service Delivery to identify training needs

  • Facilitate reflective practice sessions, debriefs, and skills‑building workshops

  • Ensure volunteers feel confident, supported, and equipped to deliver safe, impactful sessions

  • Help build a culture of continuous learning, care, and community

This is a leadership role where your work will directly shape the confidence, capability, and wellbeing of our volunteer team.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll thrive in this role if you are:

  • Warm, organised, and values‑driven

  • Experienced in training, facilitation, adult learning, or learning and development

  • Skilled at creating clear, accessible learning materials

  • Confident delivering workshops and supporting volunteers

  • Passionate about trauma‑informed, person‑centred practice

  • Excited to help build a learning culture from the ground up

Experience in employability, wellbeing, community development, or coaching is helpful — but heart, clarity, and a love of learning matter most.

Why Join Us

  • Be part of a new, community‑powered movement

  • Shape the learning experience for volunteers from day one

  • Work alongside people with lived experience, empathy, and heart

  • Gain leadership experience in a growing charity

  • Make a real difference to adults who feel unseen and unsupported

Time Commitment

  • 4–8 hours per week, flexible
  • Based in London (with hybrid options)

We Welcome You

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, especially those with lived experience of the barriers our participants face.
