The Whiteley Homes Trust, “the Trust,” is a charity that manages Whiteley Village in Surrey. The purpose of the charity is to provide homes for older people of limited means from all over the country.  Founded over a hundred years ago in Walton on Thames, Surrey, the Village is located in 225 acres of beautiful grounds and is a very special place to live and work.

Established in 1917 the village has many Grade 2 listed buildings and provides housing for nearly 400 older people of limited means. There are 265 Almshouses and 51 extra care apartments and the Village also has a church, activity centre, pool, village hall, shop and community café. There is also a small number of market rent properties within the village.

Huntley House is CQC Registered Extra Care Accommodation in the heart of the Village. Our Support Team provide high quality support to residents 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This includes supporting people with complex needs to live as independently as possible, promoting dignity, choice, and wellbeing in line with CQC regulations and best practice standards.

This role is perfect for friendly, approachable individuals who enjoy interacting with people and creating a welcoming environment. As a Meet and Greet volunteer, you will play a vital part in ensuring residents, visitors, and team members feel comfortable and supported.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcoming Visitors: Greet residents, families, and guests with a warm and friendly attitude.
• Providing Directions: Assist visitors in navigating the village, directing them to specific locations, events, or team members.
• Administrative Tasks: Manage visitor sign-ins
• Companionship: Engage in light conversation with residents, offering a listening ear and fostering a sense of community.

Foodbank Volunteer

About Olive Branch Aid

Olive Branch Aid is a foodbank and wellbeing charity committed to supporting individuals and families experiencing food insecurity and related challenges. We provide food, practical support, and a welcoming, compassionate environment where people are treated with dignity and respect.

Role Purpose

As a Foodbank Volunteer, you will play a vital role in helping Olive Branch Aid deliver essential food and wellbeing support to our community. You will be part of a friendly, supportive team ensuring that clients receive the help they need in a safe, respectful, and non‑judgemental way.

Key Responsibilities

Typical tasks may include:

• Welcoming clients and providing a friendly, respectful point of contact

• Preparing and packing food parcels according to dietary needs and household size

• Stock checking, sorting, weighing, and rotating donated food items

• Replenishing shelves and maintaining an organised food storage area

• Assisting with food deliveries and collections (where appropriate)

• Supporting signposting to other wellbeing or support services

• Keeping the foodbank area clean, tidy, and safe

• Following food hygiene, health & safety, and safeguarding procedures

• Working collaboratively with staff and fellow volunteers

Skills and Experience

No formal qualifications are required. We are looking for volunteers who:

• Are friendly, reliable, and compassionate

• Have good communication and listening skills

• Are able to treat all clients with dignity and confidentiality

• Can work independently as well as part of a team

• Are physically able to handle light lifting and standing tasks (reasonable adjustments welcomed)

Full training and ongoing support will be provided.

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Would you like the opportunity to volunteer with a national charity raising awareness and funds for the thousands of people affected by dual sensory loss in the UK?

We are looking for friendly, outgoing people with good communication skills to join our Community Fundraising Team.

What we'd like you to do.....

You will use your enthusiasm, great interpersonal skills and independent working abilities to support our passionate team and to raise funds for Deafblind UK in your community. This could involve running a fundraising event like a pub quiz, manning a stall at an event, taking collections or putting up posters. Whatever your background, if you want to make a difference then we want to hear from you!

This is a flexible role that allows you to do as much or as little as you want to do and an opportunity to make good use of your own skills, have a go at new activities and gain knowledge of fundraising in the charity sector.

By sharing your skills and time, you will help us to reach and help more people living with sight and hearing loss.

We ensure all volunteers who join our team are well equipped to undertake any tasks and will provide training and supervision throughout your journey with us. Any specific training will be outlined within your onboarding and induction stages and then discussed at your reviews with your named lead contact.

All materials to support your role will be supplied by Deafblind UK, including a fundraising pack with ideas for raising money and all the information you might need. The Fundraising Team will also be on hand to provide ongoing support, advice, and guidance.

Deafblindness affects everyone in different ways. Some people might have mild sight and hearing loss whereas others can’t see or hear anything. It can be isolating and lonely and can lead to mental health issues - but it’s far more common than many people realise. Around 450,000 people are affected by sight and hearing loss in the UK.

• Supporting the efficient running of the branch by ensuring administration processes are carried out effectively
• Supporting the administration and update of the branch annual plan 
• Sign-posting queries from members of the public
• Keeping branch records and information up to date and secure, using Cats Protection systems – training will be provided

Time expectation

Our support volunteers usually spend 2-5 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.
