The Cyber Helpline is a charity founded by the cybersecurity community to ensure no one faces cybercrime alone.
We provide free, expert support to individuals affected by cybercrime, digital fraud and online harm, helping them understand what has happened, secure their accounts and devices, recover safely and regain control.
Since launching, we have supported more than 100,000 people through our helpdesk and millions more through accessible self-help guidance. Every month, more than 25,000 people access our self-help service for practical advice and support.
We bridge the gap between technical cyber response and human support, combining expert digital guidance with empathy, clarity and care.
As demand for our services grows, we are investing in a stronger brand, marketing and audience engagement to ensure more people can find us when they need us, and more supporters can help sustain and grow our work.

Role Summary
The Company Secretary is the guardian of The Cyber Helpline’s compliance with both the law and best practice. The Company Secretary will play a key role in ensuring that Board procedures are followed and regularly reviewed. Acting as a resource for the Board, the Company Secretary will also provide guidance on Board members' responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
The Company Secretary will be responsible for the following:

Ensuring the charity operates in accordance with its governing document, the Charities Act, and the Companies Act 2006. Advising the board on their duties and on any legal and regulatory changes.

Being the subject matter expert on charity law and regulation within the Board.
-
Organising, attending, and taking minutes at trustee meetings (board and sub-committees), including preparing agendas and circulating papers.
-
Supporting the trustees by commissioning papers and other work required by the board, recording and tracking progress of actions agreed
-
Ensuring all mandatory returns, including the annual report and financial statements, are filed on time with Companies House and the Charity Commission.
-
Informing the Charity Commission of any significant changes in the charity’s structure or management, for example, the appointment or resignation of Trustees.
-
Assisting with the recruitment, induction, and training of new trustees, and managing conflict-of-interest registers.
-
Maintaining accurate records, including the register of members and trustees, the register of any charges on the company’s assets and managing high-level correspondence.
-
Maintaining the charity's registered office as the address for any formal communications. Ensuring that all the charity’s business stationery carries its name, registered number, country of registration and registered address.

Ensuring the security of the charity’s legal documents and owning the charity’s policy for the filing and retention of documents.

Ensuring The Cyber Helpline has adequate insurance in place.
-
Ensuring the charity is compliant with relevant UK law & regulation.

Supporting the protection of intellectual property.
Person Specification
This role would suit either someone in a Company Secretary role or someone with aspirations to become one. We are happy to support someone looking to make the transition into this role.
Essential Experience

Experience of auditing against standards and policies.

Preferred experience

Additional Requirements
Candidates must be 18 years old or older and resident in the UK with the right to work in the UK.
Due to the nature of this role, successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal record check (e.g. DBS). This is because the role involves access to sensitive information. Any disclosures will be considered on a case-by-case basis in line with relevant legislation.
Engagement: Trustee meetings are quarterly (three remote and one in-person). The individual will provide additional time as required, we expect this to be between 2-4 hours a week for 42 weeks of the year.

We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Volunteering in the shop
The Clapham shop is a modern, contemporary and urban street store, unlike any other charity shop you've ever seen - full of vintage treasures, gorgeous greenery and creativity!
Our Clapham Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.
It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal trial shift. It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hopefully allowing you to get a feel for the role and make sure it’s for you. We also ask for a couple of references (these don’t have to be formal workplace ones, just someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related).

We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic people to help us in our brand-new Visitor Centre at Crystal Palace Park!
The Visitor Centre is a welcoming hub where visitors can discover the history and heritage of Crystal Palace Park through a permanent exhibition, browse our gift shop and find information to help them make the most of their visit to Crystal Palace Park. The building also includes a flexible space available to hire for community events, meetings, and activities.
Volunteers will play a vital role in ensuring that visitors have an informative and positive visit. You’ll volunteer in pairs, supported by paid staff, to welcome visitors and support our Visitor Centre shop and membership opportunities.
This role will suit you if you are a friendly, outgoing individual who is keen to gain retail and customer service experience while learning more about working for a charity.
What’s involved:
- Welcoming visitors to Crystal Palace Park and helping to ensure that we provide an inclusive and friendly environment for all our visitors.
- Supporting the Visitor Centre shop, including serving customers, processing sales through our cashless till system and helping to ensure the stock is monitored and the space is welcoming and tidy.
- Wayfinding – helping visitors map out their route around the park, including information about park services; toilets, cafes and seating areas
- Promoting Crystal Palace Park, including our aiding visitors to join as Crystal Palace Park Members using our membership tablets.
Time involved:
This role is available Wednesday – Sunday throughout the year. Hours involved will be across two shift patterns, AM: 9.45 – 1.00pm and PM: 12.45 – 4.00pm.
There will also be ad-hoc evening openings throughout the year which volunteers can also be involved in.
We encourage volunteers to take part in this role for at least 3 months to get the most out of the opportunity.
This role will suit you if:

- You’re happy to volunteer as part of a team
- You’re interested in learning more about our history and communicating information to our visitors
- You’d like to gain retail experience and customer service skills

Support and training:
We will provide you with all the training necessary for your role, including:
- An induction and full briefing before your first session
- Training in how to assist in the shop and membership engagement
- Support from Trust and Freelance staff.
- Volunteers are covered under Crystal Palace Park’s public liability insurance
We will offer you:
- A volunteer uniform (lanyard or pin badge)
- Reimbursement of travel expenses up to maximum of a zone 1-6 travelcard
- Support from a dedicated volunteer officer
- Access to facilities, water and light refreshments
- Ongoing support and supervision from Trust staff

We are looking for a Volunteer Shop Assistants to assist in the running of WFRC’s retail shop to maximise sales of new and used goods that help us to generate vital funds to support the vital services that we provide for women and families. You will be providing invaluable help in the operation of our charity shop
Principal Responsibilities:
- To serve customers and record purchases on the cash register
- To work with staff and other volunteers to sort, steam, hang, ticket and size donated
clothing for sale in the shop
- To help keep the shop clean.
- To assist with shop displays.
- Provide information leaflets and signpost any enquiries for WFRC services
- Comply with WFRC relevant Policies and Procedures
- Wear personal identity badge whilst volunteering
- Represent the professional standards of the charity
