Volunteer Role: Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Strategy Design

We are Bees Abroad, working to enable communities to empower themselves through sustainable beekeeping. Together with local beekeeper trainers and organisations we educate, guide, and mentor communities in local best practices in Beekeeping, business creation, and protecting the environment. 

We are a majority volunteer organisation, with projects led entirely by volunteers working in partnership with our in-country training teams, while still in close collaboration with the core team and Board of Trustees. Whilst we are a small charity, we drive a lot of impact and have great ambition. 

We are looking for a volunteer to help us strengthen how we measure and evaluate our impact so that we can drive better and wider impact still. This individual will be reporting to our CEO and a member of the Board of Trustees. 

The goal of the project is to deliver a revised Measurement and Evaluation Strategy and put in place the foundations for a more efficient and consistent MEL process. We expect a commitment of 4 hours per week, with room for more, should the individual wish to do so. 
 
The role will involve: 

• Gathering information from our project teams to understand current monitoring and data/information collection practices across the various countries and projects. 

• Working with the CEO, a member of the Board of Trustees, and select country leads to design a monitoring and evaluation strategy that provides consistency across projects while allowing flexibility for context-specific approaches.

• This strategy document will also become publicly available to corporate and grant donors. 

• Designing and piloting simple, effective monitoring and evaluation processes and tools that can be used both where technology is available and in low-tech settings.

• Supporting any trainings of local teams in the new tools and processes 

• Exploring opportunities to use automation and digital tools, including AI, to streamline reporting where possible. 

• Bi-weekly meetings with CEO and Trustee

 You will ideally have... 

• Experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) in community development or similar fields. This includes: 

• Designing and implementing frameworks to measure project outcomes and impact. 

• Collecting, analysing, and reporting data from community-based projects. 

• Developing indicators and tools to track progress and learning. 

• Facilitating feedback loops to inform decision-making and improve project delivery. 

• Ability to design practical, user-friendly MEL processes and tools that can be adapted and implemented in a variety of settings

• Comfortable working with both digital and offline MEL methods. 

• Strong communication skills to collaborate with our international project team, with an ability to adapt language and communication approaches to different personalities and local area contexts

Leeds Mind promotes positive mental health and wellbeing, and provides help and support to anyone who needs it in and around Leeds. We offer many services, including: counselling, peer support, social prescribing, employment support, suicide bereavement support, creative wellbeing activities, mental health training and more. The aim of our work is to help people build on their strengths, overcome obstacles, and become more in control of their lives. We have faith and optimism in our clients and so the services we deliver are built around their needs. We support the people of Leeds to discover their own resources to ‘recover’ from periods of poor mental health, and to live life independently with their mental health condition.

Leeds Mind appoints external co-opted members to its relevant committees in order to strengthen the breadth of experience and skills available.  It recognises the very valuable contribution that co-opted members make to the success of Leeds Mind and wants co-opted members to feel that the job they do is rewarding and satisfying.

Co-opted members are expected to contribute their professional, specialist, generalist and management skills to Leeds Mind’s committees in a non-executive role. 

This role provides strategic insight, challenge, and support to the Quality and Performance Committee, with a specific focus on race equity and broader EDIB issues. The role will help ensure the charity’s services and internal practices are aligned with the NHS Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF) and tailored to meet the unique needs of the communities we serve.

As a minimum, co-opted members are expected to prepare for and attend all meetings of the relevant committee. Committee meetings are held quarterly and are up to two hours in duration.

Additionally, it would be beneficial, for the co-opted member to attend Leeds Mind’s Race Equity Steering Group on a bi-monthly basis where possible to enhance understanding of developing strategic and operational work.

Key tasks & responsibilities

• Strategic Oversight & Advice

• Advise on the integration of race equity and EDI principles into the charity’s quality assurance and performance frameworks.
• Support alignment with the PCREF while adapting approaches to reflect the charity’s values, mission, and community needs.

• Service Equity

• Provide scrutiny and guidance on how services are designed, delivered, and evaluated to ensure equitable access, experience, and outcomes for racialised and marginalised communities.
• Champion culturally responsive and trauma-informed care models.

• Workforce Equity

• Advise on HR practices, workforce development, and organisational culture to promote race equity and inclusion.
• Support the charity in developing inclusive recruitment, retention, and progression strategies.

• Data & Impact

• Support the committee in interpreting and using data to monitor disparities, drive improvement, and measure impact.
• Promote the use of lived experience and qualitative insights alongside quantitative metrics.

• Governance & Accountability

• Contribute to the committee’s assurance role by challenging assumptions, identifying risks, and promoting transparency in equity-related performance.
• Ensure the charity remains accountable to the communities it serves, particularly those most affected by mental health inequalities. 
• Attend committee meetings, induction, training and other events, as required
• Get to know Leeds Mind through discussion with the Chair, CEO, Trustees, staff, volunteers and service users, reading relevant papers and participating in events
• Comply with all governance policies and procedures
• Represent and act in the best interests of Leeds Mind at all times

About this role

You may be doing lots of interesting support service actions:

• Answering calls from our shops, helping to resolve concerns
• Answering contacts from our customers, learning how to deliver great customer service
• Working on our retail operations online support system, dealing with suppliers and shops online and by phone
• Creating marketing assets to send to shops
• Joining teams working on specific projects like training packs, cost evaluation or shop merchandising
• Creating social media posts for our shop colleagues to share
• Learning how to use word, powerpoint and excel.

Every day is different, we manage lots of different projects whilst working on our annual plan. We can find a project to suit everyone.

Volunteering in the office could enable you to gain the skills needed to support searches for employment.

You must be over 18 for this role.

When and where

This role can be remote so can be worked from anywhere in UK or you can come into the Here East office one or two days per week.

Depending on your availability we are suggesting 4 hours per week during office hours, but would welcome any suggested volunteering patterns.

We're looking for 2-3 detail-oriented and strategic Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Specialist Volunteers to help optimise our online presence and ensure our campaigns and content reach the communities that need them most and increase the charity’s search engine results rankings. The SEO Specialist Volunteers will play a key role in enhancing the visibility and searchability of Burning Nights CRPS Support’s website and digital content.

The SEO Specialist Volunteers will be volunteering within the Communications & Marketing Team to implement SEO best practices, conduct keyword research, improve site structure, and analyse web performance – all to ensure our content reaches a broader audience and amplifies the voice of our charity’s supporters online.

Key Tasks and Objectives

• Competitor and Keyword Research: Conduct keyword research to inform website content and campaign strategies.
• On-page optimisation: Optimise existing content for improved search engine ranking (meta tags, meta descriptions, headers, alt text, etc.)
• Monitor and analyse SEO performance using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and SEMrush.
• Technical SEO Implementation: Identify technical SEO issues and collaborate with content teams to resolve them.
• Backlink and Off-Page SEO: Assist in developing backlink strategies and improving domain authority.
• Support the content team in creating SEO-optimised articles and pages.
• Provide monthly reports on SEO performance and suggest improvements.
• Stay up to date with SEO trends, Google algorithm updates, and emerging best practices.

Key Skills or Qualifications

• Excellent understanding of SEO principles and search engine algorithms.
• Proven experience in conducting SEO audits, strategy development, and implementation.
• Experience using SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Ahrefs, or SEMrush or similar platforms.

Training and Support

• This a remote volunteering opportunity with regular online team check-ins and collaborative sessions with a supportive, creative, and inclusive team environment.

The Role

The Supporting Chapter Manager provides support to Chapter that are deemed to be struggling. They should assess chapters frequently to ensure they have a clear awareness of what a chapter requires support, in addition to input from other Trustees. They will then provide hands on support to the struggling chapters with focus on recruitment, events and costumes.

Time Commitment

This role is flexible and can be done remotely. We ask for around 4–6 hours per week, though this may vary depending on activities or events.

By joining our Board, you will help shape financial strategy, strengthen organisational resilience, and ensure that CYP can continue to provide a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment for all its members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Strategic Oversight: Monitor the financial health of the project and report to the Board.
• Budgeting: Oversea annual budgets and ensure we stay on track.
• Compliance: Oversee annual accounts and ensure we meet Charity Commission/Companies House requirements.
• Mentorship: (Optional but great) Occasionally advise our young leaders on basic financial literacy or project budgeting.

We need someone who is organised, communicative, and shares our values.

• Financial Expertise: A background in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial management (qualified or part-qualified is a plus).

CPRE Buckinghamshire is seeking a Treasurer to join our small, committed team, to oversee our charity's financial affairs. This role is ideal for someone with a financial management background who also cares about the environment.

CPRE Buckinghamshire champions the countryside and promotes sustainable land use. We advocate for responsible planning, the protection of green spaces, and we engage with local and national decision-makers, as well as the local community. This is an exciting time to join us as we celebrate CPRE’s Centenary in 2026, with various activities that you are welcome to get involved in!

We're looking for someone who is dependable, methodical, and quietly confident in managing financial responsibilities. You'll be comfortable working with numbers, keeping clear records, and helping us plan ahead. You'll bring a practical mindset to budgeting and reporting, and be able to explain financial matters in a way that's accessible to others.

You will:

• Maintain oversight of income, expenditure, and budgeting

• Prepare financial reports and ensure compliance with legal requirements

• Manage transactions and process payments

• Attend our bi-monthly Trustee meetings and other regular meetings

• Advise the board on financial sustainability and planning

• Share our commitment to protecting Buckinghamshire's countryside

• Be motivated by a belief in CPRE's mission and keen to make a difference locally.

This is a voluntary role, with a time commitment of no more than 2 days a month. Our team usually works remotely, but we do try to meet in person from time to time. Reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
